Koala Moa Rotisserie Chicken

I love this place! Every time I get into town I make sure to come here for their yummy juicy rotisserie Chicken and pork ribs. The Kim Chee and pickled daikon are tasty and compliment the rice and meat well. It’s located off Nimitz hwy and easy to get to when you get off the plane before heading to Waikiki.

This is a must visit when in Hawaii! They food is amazing! Chicken is moist VERY good.

This truck pops up in the middle of no where between beautiful beaches! Very yummy, well marinated and very juicy! Good place for quick lunch and picnic. For sure will come back next time if we are coming to Honolulu again.

Koala Moa earns 5 out of 5 in my book. I was in the area after running a few errands. I drove past on my way to Home Depot and it’s hard to miss because all of the chicken being grilled right out front. The smell and smoke is unavoidable. After seeing and smelling this I decided to give it a try.
They have their offices and small restaurant on the property. The restaurant is simple. It consists of a few tables and an are where you walk up and order. I showed up around 1030AM, so well before any lunch rush. I was greeted by two sweet staff members that were very pleasant. I ordered the chicken plate with 3 sides. The sides I went with were corn, mac salad and white rice. The chicken was amazing! It was how this style chicken should be cooked. It was moist and very tasty. The sides were pretty standard except for the mac salad. It was a little less thick than usual. It was okay, but not great.
Overall, the food was amazing! The restaurant is simple and very accessible. If you are in the area and love chicken, than I highly recommend trying Koala Moa!

This is our families favorite spot to eat, we come at least once a week. So you are probably wondering why I only gave it one star? The owner is a big B**CH. Every other employee here is always so nice when my family comes in. As usual, my 4 year old daughter goes straight to the toothpicks because it’s a cool bird that picks up the toothpick for you. She usually get one for me and my husband. Today my daughter does that and gets the first one and goes to get the 2^nd and the owner rips off the entire toothpick dispenser right off the counter. This woman obviously hates kids cause once before when my daughter was a baby, she was standing by the door and she yelled at me to get her away from the door. So yes everyone but her here are extremely nice and it’s disappointing being that this is one of our favorite spots to eat.

Best chicken and ribs ever! I don’t even like ribs that much… I tried one bite of my bfs plate of ribs and I couldn’t get enough! Also, it’s not as expensive as I thought it would be. Most chicken/​rib plates like this are at least $ 15. Two plates plus two drinks and side kimchee came out to about $ 23 altogether! ;)

Saw this place featured on Food Channel’s «Man, Food,& Fire.» It was on my «To Eat At» list on my last visit to Oahu. It looks good on Tv but I must say I was disappointed with the quality of taste.
I ordered the combo quarter chicken & pork rib came with rice and choice of two side orders of corn & salad for $ 13.00. The ribs has no sauce on it at all. It was simply grilled over fire with salt so it tasted very blend. Can tell that it was pre-​cooked on a stove before they put it over the. The cooking style is roasted over fire, not BBQ. The chicken was dry, overly cooked, and lack anything BBQ flavored sauce. A dry rub was used, but to me that was nothing close to BBQ chicken. Ginas BBQ Huri chicken in Hilo is still the best yet!!! Second is Lahaina Chicken at Ala Moana Food Court, NOT the Airport Lahaina chicken. This place is not a BBQ place but a fire roasted.
There are plenty of parking spaces. The place is right off Nimitz highway from the airport on the left right before Kmart. Inside of restaurant was not big but clean with air condition. Staff were okay. This is a place to good for a quick lunch. Happy Eating!

This place was soooo good, but pricy to fill our tummies. Well worth it. I would still like to buy a couple ribs for less though.

The chicken here is so good. Very moist in the inside and crisp on the outside. Also they are very reasonable on the price. I will definitely be returning.

Expensive for what u get. Ordered the combo $ 10.95 and we received a quarter chicken and a single rib with brown rice, canned corn and salad in a to go tray. The best part was the chicken, normal huli huli grilled chicken. The single spare rib was very salty and seemed to have been boiled then put in the smoker for flavor. The sides were brown rice that were mushy, canned corn or from frozen, salad was fresh & crispy. Would only order to go rotisserie chicken from this place! Whole chicken is $ 10.95 and half chicken is $ 5.95 otherwise go elsewhere as there are way too many choices to spend your money for better food. Not good.

The food was good for something quick and fast to eat. It wasn’t amazing, but good. I most likely won’t go there again, but it’s definitely something worth to try if your hungry and happen to be around the area.

Having tried Kiawe chicken in the north shore, I was looking for a local alternative and came away very impressed. Very tasty chicken.
Parking wasn’t a problem at all and food came out fairly quickly.
Next time I’ll definitely try the ribs!

I eat here for lunch all the time. Combo meal is great and it comes with ¼ chicken and ribs. I prefer dark meat and what’s great is that they will allow you to choose white meat or dark meat. Get a side of kimchee while you are at it!

If you’re in Oahu and craving some rotisserie/​huli-​huli chicken for a great price, serving size, and service this is the spot. Chicken is moist and tender, not dry at all. Rib I got in my combo meal was good and decent size. Overall I love the food here, if I ever come visit Oahu again it’ll be one of my definite stops. The lady, who I think is the owner was nice enough to bring the food to us too!

Asked some locals where we could get some good local grub and they recommended this place. And we are so glad they did!
After eating cruise ship food for a week it was so refreshing to get fresh, real food!
The Mrs ordered the large chicken plate and I ordered the jumbo chicken plate. White rice and corn were the sides.
Everything was served hot, with large portions and lots of flavor. So good. We ate every bite!
As good as the food was, the service was even better. Super friendly and lots of Aloha!
We recommend Koala Moa to all of our friends when they visit Honolulu. It’s that good.

Great food!!! Love the chicken and I think they have decent prices! Never have lines when I come through. Just be careful coming in and out of their parking lot.

This is our second visit to Koala Moa. Their chicken and ribs are very good. In this visit, we ordered 2 of the double combo. Each double combo came with a quarter leg chicken and 2 pieces of ribs. Enough to stop the hunger for the four of us but still have some great food. If you only drink water, they do have complimentary water but they give you small bathroom size cups. If you can, bring your own water bottle, but otherwise, they do have other beverages available for purchase.
Service was good but not excellent. The women need to be more friendlier. Food did come fairly quick. Service was much friendlier in our first visit. different people working behind the counter.
They don’t have a lot of parking spaces, but they seem to not have enough customers to fill them all. In both of our visits, there were 3 other parties of 2 – 3 people.
You have to try them if you’re in the area.

One of the best HuliHuli chicken places on island, travel here 4 times and year and this is my first stop.

Lemongrass ribs,??? Don’t think many people know the flavor of lemongrass.
I for one. Tried the mini lemongrass plate and was pleasantly surprised. A mild and refreshing taste. Different from the western or teriyaki style. Tender and cooked to perfection.

Classic hulihuli chicken in mini, large, jumbo, and combo offerings with sides of rice, corn, and fresh salad. Combos include chicken and ribs. Moist and delicious chicken with that classic smoked flavor!
I enjoyed my large chicken plate and couldn’t finish it.
Will be back again to try the combo plate!
