The steak and onions is so tasty and tender, and so is the roast pork! You get to choose between white rice or brown rice and your sides choices are Mac salad, tossed salad, or hot veggies! The prices are very reasonable, this place is a hidden treasure!

The food and the environment is bad. I have been there a few times before but this last visit was bad. The food is displayed right in front of people as they are ordering and not covered so if someone sneezed that’s it. I kept thinking… where are the gloves? The seating is in a dark place, the place needs a scrub down and the table was sticky. The only thing I can say is that the people were friendly enough.

I absolutely love the food! We catered through them and ordered ahi poke, Lau Lau, kalua, lomi salmon, long rice and haupia. Everything was very good. Best Hawaiian food I’ve had thus far!

Ron and his family were very friendly and their food was amazing. They catered my son’s graduation party of 220 and everyone LOVED the food! They provided warmers to keep the food«HOT», serving utensils, cups, cooler, juice jugs… the whole 9 yards! Thanks Ron. We’ll be back for lunch :-)

All time best local«da Kine» plate lunch. I go regularly and enjoy it, every time. Always tasty [if a bit salty] but the service is friendly and plates are a very good value for the $. Get there early if can, as the last ones in have to choose from what is left. Certainly worth a visit.

Winnah, Winnah, Sweet Sour Spare Rib for lunch or dinnahh! Ahhh, if you haven’t tried Kanakz sweet sour spare ribs & you about that rib life(lol); this is bombbbb! I whacked a whole plate, which included 2 scoops rice, side mac salad(with tuna in it), and the loaaaad of spare rib with sauce poured over it! All for SIX dollars! You really can’t go wrong with plate lunches like that in Hawaii! Kanak Attack is located to the right of Helena’s Hawaiian food in Kalihi(the corner restaurant) and they mostly do take outs & catering now. But trust & believe no regrets on it! They hook it up with good size portions & great prices!

Thanks to my best friend, I found the best catering company EVER!!! My BF and her entire family use Kanak Attack for all their parties, luaus etc. I was in search of a good caterer at a reasonable price, and I struck GOLD! :) Ron and his staff were so friendly and very easy to work with! They dropped off all the food, and set everything up! They were so awesome! And I cannot tell you how many people LOVED the food! So many of my guests asked where it was catered from! Thank you RON and Kanak Attack staff! The food and service was beyond my expectations!!!

Hawaiian Menu is awesome! So impressed with the squid luau. Not easy to make, but KA is on point with taste. Kalua pig, chicken long rice, lau lau, poi, poke, sweet potato, lomi salmon… all delicious!

I finally found this place. Thanks for the earlier posts and finally talking with Ron about the location. I’m glad I found a new place to get the grindz at… Today I had the Stuffed Salmon and the Braised Beef mixed plate. Talk about«Kanak Attack». I think I filled the stomach and the chest cavity and started piling up food in the eyelids cause I wanted to sleep before I could finish the plate. Very reasonable prices, great selections, and ‘ono food. I will definitely be back, to the Kanak Attack, for more than a snack, so how you gonna act, Zach? Thanks Ron for a great lunch… see you again!

I work right across the street and tried Kanak Attack for my first time. Not bad! I like that they have squid luau — my ultimate fav when it comes to Hawaiian food! I was warned beforehand that the food is a bit salty. I still didn’t mind checking it out though since I’m a salty food kinda eater. I got a mini plate consisting of squid luau, rice, and lomi salmon for only ~$ 6. The squid luau was okay — would be nice if there were chunks of squid in there but I didn’t taste much at all. But maybe it’s cuz I literally had the last last serving. I actually thought that this needed a tad bit more salt. I admit that the lomi salmon was super salty. Might be cuz I’m use to eating it with poi. So, in the end, it balanced out the sweeter squid luau. If you go during the later hours of lunch, stuff starts running out. Beware if you eat right outside of the place. There are lots of weirdos that come up to you asking for money. Apparently there’s some kind of shelter or something nearby. Gets a bit sketch. I would be back to try other things on the menu. But next time, just for take-out!

I have two horrible experiences here so I probably will never go back. First time: Wings — flavorless, dry, lacking meat Second time: Kalua Pork — Only thing I could taste was salt. It was more of stew rather than what you would normally expect when ordering Kalua pork. Seating is poor. The atmosphere is dark and dingy. I’ve had better meals out of the trunk of a car.

Someone catered from Kanak Attack for lunch. The laulau and chicken long rice was ono, and the poi was FRESH! However, the lomilomi salmon was very salty and a little fishy. The kalua pig tasted like it was bbq’d over keawe wood, so that was pretty good, except that it was a litlte salty also. I think the reason why they make the lomi salmon and kalua pig saltier than usual to match it with the poi when mixing. The haupia tasted pretty good, but on the sweeter side. There’s hardly any places that sell pretty good Hawaiian food, so I’d order from them again. Too bad they don’t open later so I could pick up for dinner.

I work in the building and come here when I’m craving a local plate lunch but don’t want to drive. I always order a $ 5 mini plate which comes in a foam«hoagie» container. I’ve had the hamburger macaroni and baked spaghetti which were very bland and light on the meat and cheese — I usually drown these two items with tabasco to give it some taste. Their other items like the braised beef, sweet and sour spareribs, chicken adobo, and a salmon-mayonnaise casserole were extremely salty. The only thing I was ever really happy with was some kind of mexican casserole dish. I really want this place to succeed, but the food needs to improve.

We visited Kanak Attack twice within a month recently. We had the: Grilled Steak plate Rating: 4 stars Note: Buggah’ was WINNAHZ! Although it was top round, it was still very tender, thanks it being prepped with a needle tenderizer to the meat prior to cooking it. The seasoning blend was also just right, not over or underpowering. And this plate was HUGE. I’m talking serious«T-Rex Poundage». Lemon Pepper seasoned Salmon, Chow Mein and Mac Salad with Wasabi Aioli mini plate Rating: 4 Stars Note: Salmon was very moist ‘n fresh-tasting and packed with flavor thanks to the lemon pepper seasoning. Teriyaki Beef Plate Rating: 4 stars Note: n/a Squid Luau plate Rating: 2 stars Note: TOOSWEET! Way too sweet. Plus nevah get poi for serve with it. Grilled Hamachi Kama Rating: 4 stars Note: Meaty, moist and tender with that great fatty tuna flavor you get from the collar bone area of the fish. Seafood Curry Stew Rating: 4 stars Note: Very hearty, with plenty of «goodies» in it, including baby octopus(tako), shrimp and fish. Curry itself had good flavor too and that desirable«coat the back of a spoon» thickness. Mini Teriyaki Hamburger Steak plate Rating: 2 stars Note: Thumbs-up on the Teriyaki gravy sauce, but thumbs-down on the very plain, uninspiring hamburger patties, which seamed almost as if they had been steam-cooked, and had no breading or seasonings whatsoever in it. The Mac Salad is good, so that was its saving grace. Note, Kanak Attack doesn’t have a set regular menu, but changes it daily. You never know what you’ll find here, and it can always be a welcoming surprise! There were some misses, but I think the hits overcome them. Now if we can only figure out how in the heck the owner came up with the concept of selling jewelry alongside plate lunches. lol

A true hole in the wall with good food! Kind of hard to find but worth the hunt. Food selection is great and they have mini plates available for about $ 4.50. Selection ranges from New York steak to baked spaghetti. the spaghetti must have been a classic favorite, cause the were all out(see photo). I ordered a Teri Chicken and Chicken Adobe mixed plate a was choke with food and must have weighed at least 3 lbs. I normally polish my plates but there was so much food, I could not finish it this time. My mixed plate cost me about @7.80 but was worth it. The Chicken Adobo was kind I liked with a lot of sauce instead of the dry type and was flavorful with the right amount of vinegar in it. The Teri Chicken was simply ono had had choke pieces. I was surprised when I lifted one piece, there was two more under it. Mac salad was among the best being nice and creamy with the right amount of sweetness to it. One big disappointment was that they used store bought pre-formed hamburger patties. So don’t order their hamburger steak plate unless you like that kind of thing. Overall good food, good prices and free 1-hour parking available. I would definitely go back for more.

Man, this place is hard to find if you don’t work in the area. It’s located in the Nimitz Business Center, you know the area with New Eagle Café and Sensually Yours. In the back of that building(picture) where World Café use to be(old school days) You’ll walk down a little hallway where you’ll find a koi pond. They are a local plate lunch place, with mini, regular and mix plates. The mini will run you 4.20+ pending if what you get is a special. You see every day is a different special from Hamburger Mac(local style of course, the mini clocks in at a good 1 lb; I know this cause I weighed it on my post office scale:), to Hawaiian Plate lunch which involves the usual laulau, squid luau, and long rice. They are a SUPER small walk in, order what you want and move on out type of place. They have a few tables, which always seem to filled come around lunch time. Around 11:30AM be prepared to stand in a line. Like I was saying the Hamburger Mac Mini clocks in at a good 1 lb. Just for a mini. Their name truly lives up to what will happen. Sure you can finish a regular but be prepared to be useless at work and wishing you should have tapped out before finishing the whole thing.
