I started coming back here again during my lunch break. Last time I came was back in Nov. ’14. Got the Shoyu Chicken from this spot before and I didn’t like it. Gave it a shot again yesterday. And for $ 5, was GOOD and WORTHIT. I only go for the Shoyu Chicken with Tossed Salad with the sauce all over the rice so it’s WET, haven’t tried anything else. But this my go to spot for the time being now for lunch.

New owners, but goo-ud! I had the fried ahi plate. No bowls here! It comes with rice of course and I opted out of the salad and mac salad. The man before me ordered the roast pork plate for only $ 7.50. And it came with sides, kim chee, and a drink! Most of their dishes are meat, but if you’re a pescatarian like me, they have some fish eats.

I wonder if this place is still around? Joe’s used to be open at 4:30am. Cookie, the owner at the time, used to make the most awesome, cheap breakfasts in the area. She would always try to give you more than you paid for, so I would just give her a larger tip to balance it out. I was introduced to this place by my friends from the Wal-Mart warehouse. From day one, I knew the place one was good because there was a line of Samoans at the truck. Breakfast: Steak and Eggs Adobo fried rice Portuguese Omelet with fried rice The best thing was you never paid more than $ 5. If it’s still around, I hope the current owner is just as good as Cookie.

This is a review for the Joe’s lunchwagon on Mapunapuna street in front of Hardware hawaii. This lunchwagon is awesome! One of the cheapest lunchwagons with an extensive everyday menu with more than 15 entries. The majority of all their standard size plates is $ 5.00. Their portions are good and their food taste quite good.(some plates are a bit more but average is $ 5.00) The workers are friendly and accomodating.(daughter is a doll). The service aint fast nor slow… So far I have tried their: Spaghetti with fried chicken –(good) Hamburger steak –(not patties seems to be home made) French dip sandwhich –(good but I am not a fan of too much cheese) Steak –(not as good as times but not bad) Roast beef –(not fatty and good gravy) Battered ahi –(not overly seasoned and even good without sauce) Teri Beef –(broke my fork) Garlic ono –(l love fish) Teri hamburger —(good) hamburger curry(yum) fried chicken(my favorite) Meatloaf 9−6−11(not one of my favorites) Garlic butter snapper(mmm real good) 9−14−11 Grilled Snapper(good even without tartar) 1−30−12 They even give you an option of mac salad or tossed. A good value. pretty good lunch wagon. Cheap enough to eat there almost everyday. Unheard of variety of menu items for a lunchwagon.

This is a lunchwagon located in front of the Hawaiian Air Cargo center. It’s the first driveway off of Elliott Street on the left as you head towards Hickam AFB. You can usually find them there M-F from morning into the afternoon… although I think they’re also there on weekends, too. This wagon used to be a staple of everyone’s lunch back in the Aloha Airlines days when they were situated at the Red Brick Building parking lot. I used to love coming here if I forgot to bring lunch and didn’t feel like driving. They used to have pretty damn good mochiko chicken on Thursdays, but have since discontinued it. The guys who run the wagon are nice and friendly. The food is OK. Nothing fancy, nothing spectacular. The menu spans the regular plate lunch fare including regulars like shoyu chicken, garlic fried chicken, teri chicken/beef, hamburger steak, papaya soup, pork guisantes, pork adobo, mahi mahi, etc. You can get a plate lunch for $ 5, the mini is $ 4.50. They also have a steak plate for $ 6 and they serve breakfast as well in the mornings, which can be nice. Try the Joe’s Omelette or the Big Breakfast. Often, this place is a last resort for me if I don’t feel like driving too far for lunch. I may stop getting the steak plate as the steak is often tough, fatty and sometimes rubbery. The rest of the food is decent enough for the price and the servers are nice. They recently put the kim chee jar back outside, so you can add as much kim chee to your plate as you want(as long as still get).
