Dr. Inouye is: careful with your teeth/mouth, respectful and friendly towards you, and truly knows his dental stuff. He will answer your tooth-and-gums-related questions succinctly, with practicality. His energy is reassuring and non-invasive. As the saying goes, «quiet and effective.» His dental assistants are always pleasant and professional, creating an atmosphere of comfort, care, and reliability. Keri(Kerry?), the office manager, is a sardonic machine of efficiency and works to schedule you with flexibility and great attention to detail. She keeps everything super-organized and on-schedule, communicates with accuracy and sensitivity about billing and insurance, and generally sets the universe in order every day. There’s a TV in the waiting room, and wi-fi, too. You get: the occasional free mini-toothpaste and good-quality toothbrush, making you feel like an elementary-school child again(woot, woot, free stuff!), before you sober up and realize that it’s not candy, but something actually good for your mouth. Most of all, though not related to dentistry, «Hawai’i nostalgia”-type lithographs, posters, and photographs cover the walls of the various treatment rooms, hearkening back to an earlier, late-plantation-era time, in the city.

It may seem strange, but I’ve never been afraid of going to the dentist and I actually enjoy getting my teeth cleaned. I attribute that to Dr. Inouye being a great dentist. Not only is his quality of work excellent, but his office is located right in town and his office staff is very welcoming. Dr. Inouye’s calm & friendly persona puts you right at ease. I would definitely recommend Dr. Inouye to anyone who is looking for a dentist they’ll be happy with.
