Food is not bad, while service is not what I expected, for instance, we waited for a fairly long time even after we seated by them. The food is ok but price is not really worth it. It is said 1 $ on Unilocal, but it is actually more towards to 3 $.

Wow, shame to all the people who gave one star! Yeah, they might not be the cleanest restaurant around, but they have very good Korean food! We ordered Bibimbab, beef rice porridge and ducbogi, all of which were delicious! Service was good too! Didn’t try their restroom, but, aren’t all the Korean restaurants like this? This is authentic!

Just bad food, the beef was so hard and the pork smell just like alcohol. I don’t understand why they’re so many Korean people come to here, even for me it tastes like nothing, never ever wanna go there again.

Don’t come here for korean food, really just very so-so. Maybe they only got to stay here as long as they did because this is a very touristy area, for real. Spicy beef Soup tasted like the water that was in the pot when we washed the soup pot(old Chinese saying). Plus the back door of the restaurant connects to a karaōke bar where drunk people are singing off key during dinner hours… slightly awkward. Or was it because it was«loveshack»?

Ha! This place was fun… scared my husband when i walked down a tiny alley and poked my head into their back door :) The menu is mostly in Japanese and the staff was a bit rusty in English but that never stops me and they seemed to really care and tried hard. So we were out for an adventure but decided to stick with what we know and ordered bulgogi(how do you spell that?) Food came out quick with all the fixins and then it was up to us to make it right — and we did. Prices were ok, food was ok, the place was clean and at the end I even got a compliment from my husband when he admitted that at first he was skeptical but then found it to be great :) Will come back!

Had to review this place after two awesome meals and realizing that the other reviewers were clueless on the ins and outs of Waiks dining. First off, it’s all about happy hour(5 – 6:30PM Fri-Sat). If it’s not happy hour, you probably won’t be too happy about it. The dishes are a little pricey(~$ 13 – 20), but it’s half off during happy hour and the first beer is $ 0.99! My picks are the marinated short rib(kalbi), pork belly, and the infamous IPR! It’s actually Inner Part of the Rib! I’ve never seen or heard of this offered before, and it’s awesome! My brother from another mother is practically their most regular customer, and despite the fact that the staff’s collective English is minimal at best, they all know what we’re talking about when we start laughing and loudly proclaiming, IPR! Comes with plenty of refillable veggies(Usually kim chee, bean sprouts, cabbage, and raddish) for those of us not trying to die anytime soon. The verdict: come during happy hour, fry up some meat, fill up on veggies, round it off with a bi bim bap(gotta let them mix it with extra house sauce and let the rice get crispy in the hot stone pot!), and enjoy your dollar beer, cuz the next one is $ 4.50! By the way, laver is seaweed, and I’m not giving up the secret parking spot, but locals know the drill and all others, hopefully you’re walking from your hotel, if not, good luck! Make sure to make plenny noise ah and thank the super gracious staff and owner with a good tip. For such an awesome hole in the wall experience through an alley off Kalakaua, they deserve it!

Good value, the service is very attentive and the food is delicious. I can’t remember what I ordered though. I remember it was good.

I actually want to give no star to this restaurant. I came here because a lady on the street gave me a flyer and she said $ 25 was for 2 persons 1. price: overpriced for such a small portion. $ 25 for few pieces of meat. Are you serious? No rice, only 3 appetizers were given. DONTCOMETOTHISRESTAURANT!

The place had all the makings of a good down home k BBQ place– the out of the way location, smoky bar feel and J and k patrons. But it’s hugely overpriced at $ 23 and $ 25 per person set menus. The problem was skimpiness on what was brought out and the begrudging attitude about supplying more sides. Maybe we’re spoiled by K-town in LA but if they don’t have it these guys could use some more competition. They’re spoiled maybe by their overpaying Japanese tourist clientele. At 15 per person and at least two rounds of 95 cent kirins we would have been happy with the deal, but at our prices we felt ripped off. I’ve never felt dismissively treated by Japanese wait staff, who are usually extremely attentive. But this place was exceptional and not in a good sense in that respect as well.

Thumbs down for $ 10 evening parking in the paid parking lot right on Lauula St.(in Waikiki… but parking is good for the whole night after 5PM, if you are going to hit up Waiks afterwards). My friend and I came to Ginza Won for Korean BBQ, and were surprised when the entire menu was in Japanese. Well, the first page had the English translation next to the Japanese. My friend brought out a coupon in English which I guess they give to you if you are English speaking… but I’m still wondering what #5 of the BBQ set, «laver» is supposed to be. Weird. Liver? Flavor? Well it’s mostly English anyway — haha.(see pic) The place was as dead as a ghost town, and there were two workers who were attentive(I had better hope so since we were the only customers in the entire restaurant. The place was empty for the whole duration of my dinner). I almost bumped this place up to two stars for these guys being attentive, but I decided against it. After ordering, they brought out a few side dishes… none of which I was very impressed with. The kimchee tasted like it came from one of those jars that they sell at Foodland or Safeway…, and that jar was sitting in the refrigerator for who knows for how long!!! It was soggy, and way too salty. The side veggies were very unimpressive. We ordered the BBQ set. In my picture, you’ll see a little English coupon/menu. The BBQ set includes: 1. Beef Tongue, 2. Kalbi, 3. Beef flat meat, 4. Egg soup, 5. Laver(?), 6. Salad, 7. Vegetable, 8. Kimchee. We substituted the cow tongue for more bulgogi. The meat was on the tougher side. Not bad, but also not the best that I have had. We didn’t ever get our egg soup. Only now, after the fact, when I looked at the menu again did I notice we didn’t get it. As much as I loved my 95 cent Kirin(only the first Kirin is 95 cents)… the $ 50+ tab for two, and $ 10 parking wasn’t worth it.
