How in the world does a place that has a line out the door everyday before it opens and remains consistently packed, close? I can’t imagine it was revenue issue. Food was cheap and decent. Too bad…

When you past by and see the large crowd waiting for a seat, seriously it isn’t really that long of a wait. The food was good and a great place to get a bite to eat before you hit the beach!

Too bad this place closed. I’d have to say, this place rocks! Pancakes were huge! Omelets were stuffed! Flavor galore. I like how they have more than the usual maple syrup such as coconut(as expected). First time tasting Kona coffee here. Loved it, before our flight home we hit up costco and bought a bag of 100% kona, and still savoring it to this day. Go early, as the lines will make you hungrier.

Eggsellent! I came here a few times for breakfast and haven’t been disappointed. There is a bit of a wait since it’s somehow a tourist attraction, but the staff are extremely friendly. I had their omelets(that’s a lot of eggs), pancakes(try the different syrups!), and ham & eggs(huge piece of ham). You can’t really mess up eggs, but it does take some skill to make them exceptional. Tips: Pay at the front. There will probably be a wait to get seated.

Oh Eggs’n Things… you are sooo sooo much more than Eggs’n Things… You are a gastronomic delight that sets my heart a’flutter! When on Oahu… this is the place to be… and the japanese tourists know where it’s at!!!(this is why the wait can be an hour or more if you get there during the breakfast rush!!!). It’s worth the wait if you have time. But there is a reason for the mad line to get a table in this tiny place. Here are just a few: 1) I love bottomless coffee with that Mandarin Orange topped macademia nut french toast with whipped cream on top for days and days!!!(get a side of portugese saugsage to balance out the sweetness of this special). 2) SYRUP! SYRUPS! SYRUP!!! maple, berry, sometimes mango/lilikoi, marmalade, and MYALLTIME favorite… that coconut syrup(I dream of swimming in that stuff or bathing in it?!). 3) the wait staff— okay this place is bustling and can get crazy… but these aunties with the funky, printed aprons!!! are a crack up… they bring humor, tender loving care, and efficiency to their work! Love them. And I blush when they flirt. 4) You know that the dishes are masterpieces(or Hawaiian/American style gluttony and excess on a plate that needs a photoshoot). I can’t tell you how the Japanese tourists(okay all tourists) have been known to bust out their cameras to take pictures of the heaping wallop trollops of whip cream on the berry pancakes). Say Cheese-SU! Put your Two fingers in a V and a flash that BIG smile. The lines scare many away… but courage, people… COURAGE! It’s a crazy yummy place to eat.

Went to Eggs & Things on their last day in the Kalakaua location. So glad that we did. On the specials board was chocolate haupia crepes– something I could not refuse though I was seriously craving pancakes. I was expecting the crêpe batter to be chocolate– it wasn’t. I didn’t care a bit after I ate a bite. AMAZING. They served 3 crepes filled with chocolate haupia, topped with powdered sugar and grated coconut. For overkill’s sake, drizzle their coconut syrup on top. Heaven. Hubby had spam and eggs and the best breakfast potatoes I’ve had in ages. Perfectly seasoned and crisped. My new gold standard. Their new location will be across from the Waikiki post office. There are new owners, too, but hopefully they’ll retain every bit of what makes Eggs & Things great.

I used to live in Honolulu and this was always the spot to go to after partying! The food is always great(Mac nut & Banana Pancakes are the best and you cannot go wrong with Portuguese Sausage) and I absolutely love the staff they are always so sweet! I am BUMMED that they are closing at the end of the month because my fiancé and I will be back on the island at the end of September! :( Im majorly bummed!

GETHEREBEFORETHEENDOFAUGUST. The owners are retiring and the place is closing for awhile. It’s gonna reopen but who knows when. If there is a long wait, ask for the counter(shorter wait, maybe no wait) My bf loved this place. His first visit to oahu and in one week we had breakfast here 3 times. First time we had pineapple waffle + coconut syrup=OMG! so good after we removed half of the mountain of whip cream. second time: corned beef hash and banana pancakes yum again! their house salsa is nummy nummy. third time: portugese sausage omelette, side of spam and papaya. portugese sausage tastes better outside of an omelette… still good though. and the papaya comes as a chilled half papaya with lemon… refreshing! they open at 11pm and close in the afternoon… late night or early morning gluttony :)

We ate here on our first morning in town and it was so delightful that we came here again the day that we left. I had ahi and eggs and pork chop and eggs. I love the curious little salsa that they have on the table. My girlfriend had macadamia nut pancakes and something else that I can’t remember. For some reason, the pineapple juice here tastes like nectar of the gods. Wow. Sure there was a short wait both times, but in Chicago a joint like this would have at least an hour wait on the weekends, so we didn’t mind. The service was friendly too. Love that island spirit!

I have been to Hawaii several times and every time I am in Oahu I have to get breakfast here. On my first trip in 2000, I was told by locals that this was the place to get a good breakfast. They were not kidding. I had the Macadamia Nut Waffle with breakfast potatoes. KILLER. A nice little dollop of coconut syrup and you got Hawaii all up in your mouth! The second time I came I was shocked to discover that there were closed due to a kitchen fire. WHAT… NOEGGS N’ THINGS!!! what would I do??? Luckily on my 3rd trip to the islands it was reopened and my father and I had one of the best breakfasts ever. I can’t wait to go back this year and sample the flavors I crave. If you are in Hawaii… or visiting soon… make sure you check this place out. Highly recommended.

My must go breakfast place! Corn beef hash and eggs with rice please! You can even get your hash crispy if you like. You can’t go wrong with whatever you order here… everyTHING is good and huge! Macadamia nut pancakes, banana pancakes, portuguese sausage, spam, omelettes, you name it, it’s all good! They have different syrups to choose and this homemade salsa that is delicious! Check out the specials on the board, they got some good stuff on there too. This place does get packed, but well worth the wait. Try to get there early. On Wed to Sat, i believe they open up at 11pm to 2pm the next day! Oh yess! Late nite breakfast is the best too! Gotta love Eggs n Things!

This place was definitely way better a couple years ago. At the current exorbitant prices and the freakishly long lines in front of the place, you’d think the kitchen is putting out some decent food. However, to put it bluntly, the food is freakin crap. With a name like Eggs n Things, you’d think the eggs would be good. My Portuguese sausage omelet was crap. The sausage was cooked to death, what flavor was once in there was burnt way before it got to my plate. And to make it worse, the omelet was filled with a plethora of these tiny burnt slices, I couldn’t get to the egg part of it. What egg I did get was not fluffy, not seasoned, and just not right. My home style potatoes were overboiled, soggy and then greased to hell. Straight nasty. I tried my SO’s pancakes, and I had to literally saw off a piece with my knife. They were not fluffy by any means. Seriously, I tried to cut it with my fork and I freakin dropped the piece on the table because it wouldn’t come off. Her scrambled eggs weren’t anything special either. The house salsa is a load of crap as well. Watered down with a stale ass flavor of tomatoes. I guess what I despised the most was my $ 2.75 coffee. Give me a freakin refill at this price PLEASE. I tried to wave down maybe 4 waiters(1 of which offered a refill to the guy sitting next to me) until, finally, this waiter goes and grabs an empty glass from the guy sitting across from me on the counter. I put my coffee mug in the air, and she basically walked away. She finally comes back, grabs my mug and brings it back refilled. FINALLY! But then she starts trying to clear our plates, when half my food is still there. For the love of God, let me enjoy my $ 10 crap omelet and $ 2.75 highway robbery coffee! Now I can go back to enjoying my vacation. Thank you Unilocal for allowing me to vent, that’s all.

A breakfast feast. The French toast was absolutely the best I have ever tasted, bar none. We ended up going two straight days, it was so good. Don’t get worried by the other Unilocal about the wait: it moves fast, especially later in the morning. The food: pancakes, served with coconut syrup, mango salsa, and sweetness that are fluffy enough to float off the plate. Had a spam and eggs omelet one day; hey, got to try the local stuff, right? The service is impeccable, and the place is jamming. Oh, and the price can’t be beat: an enormous breakfast for two that kept us filled until dinner for less than $ 30? And practically down the street from the main drag of Waikiki? Sign me up again, anytime.

Strange name, «Eggs n Things»? Once we arrived, there were already quite a few people waiting and it took about 15 minutes for us to get a seat. The wait was not a big deal though, there is plenty of shaded seating in the waiting area out front. After looking over the menu, we both decided on having omelettes, which comes with your choice of pancakes, rice, or potatoes. I went with the Spinach, Bacon, and cheese omelette and pancakes. The portions are big, I believe it was at least a 3 egg omelette along with a stack of 3 pancakes. I really loved the pancakes with the coconut syrup. I wish they had this stuff back home, I’d be eating pancakes more often. There were other pancake toppings, but the coconut was definitely the best. I looked over to the japanese tourist sitting next to us and noticed they were eating their pancakes plain… they did not have the coconut syrup on their table! Aww… poor guys, I felt really sorry for them. Did I offer them some of my syrup? NOWAY! Instead, I sampled some of the guava and maple syrup just to show them that these can also go on top of pancakes too. Soon after I did that, I noticed they were going for the guava and maple. Hmm… I guess they don’t have pancakes in Japan. I felt good though, did my good deed for the day. Service was great. The waiting staff came around frequently to check up on us and refill our coffee and make sure everything was good. I definitely would have breakfast here again.

Saw the great raves and reviews on Unilocal and decided to try it out for brunch one starving late morning/pre-noon. We even decided to wait the 20 minutes or so for our seats. This must be a Japanese tourists’ favorite breakfast spot. I would say more than ¾ of the customers there, while we were there, were Japanese tourists. So we finally sat and ordered and I think our orders were forgotten b/c people nearby that were seated after us were getting their food before we did.(Why does this always happen to US?!) One of the workers(the owner?) even noticed we were sitting there for quite some time b/c she even checked on our orders for us. Anyhow, we enjoyed the hearty portions and the crepes were to die for. Definately worth your while to visit for breakfast!

Portions here are nuts– for my french toast, it look like they cutted up half a loaf of bread into three slices, and used half a dozen eggs to make the thing. And it was really good as well. I also had a omelette on another visit, and it was what I expected. Service wise– the place is always crowded, so they can only be so attentive. The staff are all pretty friendly. One of the waitress actually spilled water on us twice, but I was wearing board shorts anyways, so I didn’t want to be a cry baby about it. Oh this place is also open late night– so it’s perfect for those who still have there buzz going on and not quite ready to crash yet.

Wow. This is absolutely the place to go for breakfast in Waikiki. Skip the 24-hour breakfast/diner places on Ala Moana Blvd. and go around the corner to find this little place under the Kalakauan hotel. I went three times: first time a waffle with banana(you know it’ll be good if they ask you if you want it normal or extra crispy), which arrived with about 6 inches of whipped cream, plus chopped macadamias sprinkled on top. Second time, strawberry crepes. Lots of strawberries, warm, toasty flavor – maybe nutmeg in the crepes? Third time, mango french toast. A special that night. Big pieces of french toast, lots of mango, lots of whipped cream. Just what I wanted. Hawaiian options like Portuguese sausage and spam are available, and they have lots of tropical fresh-squeezed juices. I loved the fried potatoes as a side – if you get these, make sure to ask them to bring the special salsa to the table. They make it in-house, they don’t sell it, and it’s definitely the best salsa I’ve had at a non-Mexican restaurant(which isn’t saying that much, maybe, but just trust me, it’s good). I didn’ t have any problems with a wait. It’s fairly empty when it opens at 11 pm, and Sunday morning was busier(lots of tourists) but still manageable. Large parties may have more difficulty. If you’re by yourself, just ask to sit at the bar.

I never get sick of eating eggs n things… the portions are not exactly huge but they get you through the day… I love their CRISPY corn beef and hash w/rice… It’s always good to go with another person or a bigger party. coz then you can choose different side orders that comes with meal and get to try it with a bit of everything(potatoes, rice, or pancakes)… The Portuguese sausages here ARE exceptional… Just the right amount of flavor and spice… the best portuguese sausage I’ve tasted in the waikiki area… =) SERVICE: Depending on which waitress you get actually, the service is rather friendly here… They’re always checking back on coffee refills and if everything is ok… I was sitting next to a table of Japanese and they had a hard time trying to explain what they wanted to the waitress… but, I was impressed by how patient she was… and she got their order in the end… The wait here gets long after 8:30ish… so come before that if you dont want to wait for more than 10 minutes. I believe they open at 5:30am for breakfast and their early bird special ends at 9am… and after that there’s the«late bird» special i think… but if you’re gonna travel all the way to hawaii… don’t just order the specials just becoz it’s cheap… try EVERYTHING else… their pancakes, Portuguese sausage, and corn beef and hash(CRISPY) are not to be missed!

In the ten years I’ve been stuffing my face here, I have to say that the thing that still impresses me most is that when you order bacon, THEYASKHOWYOUWANTITDONE! And. .. it comes out exactly the way you want it! I tested it out once by asking for it medium well. It arrived just crisp enough but with enough give so that when you bite it, it didn’t shatter across the table. Tip: don’t eat here during normal breakfast hours or right after the clubs close at 4am if you hate to wait. For entertaining people watching, go right before 4 am to watch all the drunk clubbers stumbling in making a**** of themselves. Ordering is always agony for me. I can never decide between sweet or savory. Luckily, my partner in culinary crime prefers sweet while I crave salty foods when I’m hungry, so it all works out. Crepes are delicately crisp at the edges and superbly executed. Pancakes are fluffy and delicious. My friends love the coconut syrup they come with, but I go for the other syrups. The omelettes, while not as light and fluffy as those at the Pancake House, are heaped with quality fillings and served with your choice of crisp fried potatoes and onions, 3 buttermilk pancakes, or white rice. If you like homemade spicy salsa, they provide you with a little pitcher of it to pour on your eggs. Be sure to read the whiteboard for the daily specials. And don’t forget the bacon! Service is quick, efficient, and very friendly. The servers remind me of those practical yet sugar-tongued, down-home diner waitresses you only see in the movies.
