Earl Sandwich makes IG worthy sammies in the heart of Kaimuki. This is a tiny shop with less than a handful of seats and no AC so plan to grab your sandwich to go. As a snack both the Avocado Toast and Caprese are perfect. Simple with toasted ciabatta, perfectly ripe produce, and a touch of spice. For a hearty option, the Beer Braised Brisket has a lot going on. The beef is well marbled, there’s horsy sauce, green chilies, onions and cheese – it’s hot and greasy and satisfying. Call ahead to avoid having to wait, find a shady, place to sit and enjoy!

You’re already searching this place up. Stop wasting your time and get here ASAP. Can’t decide? Go for the French Dip or their specials for the day. One thing to note: There’s no AC so it’s hot inside the small waiting/eating room. I’d suggest you grab it for to-go and head down over to the Curb which is located right next to the 7 – 11 across the street. Grab a nice cold dirtychai and eat the shit out of the sandwich. Happy eating folks.

Finally got to try this place. Small cozy hole-in-the-wall. It’s in the same parking lot as Happy Days Chinese Restaurant and Top of the Hill. Heard their daily specials are good, so I tried the meatball sliders. Those were okay — made with mayo, mustard, pickle and tomato(a little spicy from the mayo). Also had the Turkey Jam, which has tomato, pickle, arugula and BACONJAM. That jam was bomb! Overall, good place to grab lunch. Not very much seating, so you can always take your order to-go. Will be back to see what their specials are, cheers!

Holy cats. Yes. If you don’t know about Earl Sandwich through Unilocal or social media, you will not find this place. Unless you’re lurking around Kaimuki. It’s seriously a hole in a building, sitting at an outskirts of a strange state owned lot that’s 75 cents per 20 minutes. Also known as Earl Kaimuki, EARL stands for Eat a Real Lunch as ROAR-Y has told me. The name is also a play on the magnificent man who«discovered» sandwiches sailing the Mediterranean Sea. The staff, SOFRIENDLY, I met ROAR-Y(say it with an actual roar) and Misty! I got whatever they recommended me and it was the Avocado Toast that is an extreme MUST at Earl Sandwich. You look at it and think, hmm maybe that ciabatta bread is gonna be hella crunchy, but it’s not. It’s that lightly toasted crisp bread that you imagined it to be. The avocados? So fresh. That spicy butter with red pepper flakes? Perfect. It’s honestly everything that I didn’t expect out of your plane ol’ avocado toast it was more. It was delicious. Also the sweet, tea. DOn’t bother getting water. Sweet tea it up!

Found in this plaza next to a Jamaican place and Big City Diner, I was not expecting to find any beer braised brisket in a tiny little shop that rivals some big name Kansas City bbq bosses. Wow wow wow. The sandwich literally melted in my mouth. It was delicious, with all the right flavor and all the right tenderness and juiciness. The Cubano we also tried played in comparison to this sandwich. Get it and enjoy the beauty that is brisket done right.

I’m not gonna lie, the original Goat Cheese And the Jamestown are what got me hooked on Earl’s. Those curries yams… What a delight. More recently? The Avocado Toast. Soooo good. There must be crack in it. And the Pesto Salad. I wish it came with more of those home made croutons. It didn’t occur to me til I had already eaten them that I could crumble them up and have enough for the whole salad. One of these days I will get around to trying the French Dip, I got to sip a little bit of a coworkers Au Jus and that’s definitely the stuff right there. Super good and super filling. I usually have to force the second half down.

This is usually my go-to sandwich place since around the time they opened I went today for the first time in several months, and they no longer have my 2 favorites!(the Jamestown and goat cheese). Although they have the«fun goat» sandwich now, I enjoyed the original goat cheese sandwich a lot more(goat cheese, cherry tomato, asparagus, balsamic reduction. Yum!) they also have the best sweet tea, but they were out :( Overall, their sandwiches are really good, but I hope they bring back the goat cheese sandwich and Jamestown!

I really enjoy getting sammies from here!!! The standing menu is always delicious, but their specials are REALLY special!!! My favorite is the peanut butter mustard pastrami sandwich. The crunchy peanut butter goes perfect with the mustard and the spicy pickles and pepperoncini add the crunch and extra flavor that I have come to enjoy from Earl’s. There is a lot of parking in the gated lot and pretty cheap as well!!! Earl’s is in a small corner of the building that also has Seed in it. They have a couple cool Coke bottle cap stools and two lovely wood counters that you can sit at and dine in. Their avocado toast is so yummo!!! A little sweet, a little spicy and the avocado is always fresh and creamy. Their french dip is my all time fave!!! The meat is super soft and flavorful and when you add their oh so awesome bacon jam, this sandwich becomes SUPER. The au jus is always hot and the perfect complement. The staff here always greet you and are super helpful if it’s your first few times to visit. They also have a stamp card!!! Buy 10 sandwiches and get the next one free!!! Yay, I love stamp cards!!!

This hidden gem is really hidden. It’s located in the parking lot of Big City Diner in Kaimuki. They are located by Himalayan Kitchen and Jawaiian Irie Jerk. It’s a nice small establishment that has a simple menu with awesome sandwiches. They can seat no more than 10 people and there are usually 3 people working. One person as a cashier and two people making sandwiches. They accept both cash and credit. Heads up, it does take some time from ordering till getting your meal(just in case you have a time crunch for lunch). It’s worth the wait! I always order the French Dip. It’s so good when you dip it in the Au Jus they give you. The flavors mingle well and the mustard really adds a nice kick to the sandwich. Today I saw that they have a Beer Braised Brisket sandwich which I can’t wait to try next time. Great little take out spot in Kaimuki.

My friends and I needed brain fuel before our failed attempt at «Breakout Waikiki — » and what better than sandwiches! Earl sandwich has all the components that make a great sandwich. Great bread, well seasoned meat, fresh veggies, and most importantly. they make it, not me. There were 3 of us and we each got three different sandwiches. Friend number 1 got the ‘Turkey Jam Sam’. I didn’t feel like asking him for a bite because he looked really hungry. He did however finish the entire thing and said it was really good. I ended up choosing ‘The Chorizo’ I am a huge fan of chorizo and have been eating it since I was a kid; you know the one that comes in the green can. It definitely did not disappoint as it was grounded, seasoned and topped with lettuce, tomato, spicy aioli, and a very generous amount of avocados! Friend number 2 got the ‘Beer Braised Brisket’ okay this looked really good and I don’t care how hungry he looked, I just had to try it. The ciabatta bread was already so soft and it got even softer when dipped in their stout au jus dip. The meat was so tender and seasoned perfectly. Okay, I will admit something here. I didn’t choose this sandwich because it was the most expensive item they had on the menu. However, I can honestly say it’s worth the price and I regretted my decision. Not to take anything away from the other items on the menu though. Now in regards to their PRICING, most of their items average about 10 dollars. In comparison to other sandwich places that I have come to love, a 10 dollar average is just about right based on their quantity and quality. However, the quality to you may be subjective. Therefore you can make your own determination. Their SERVICE is very friendly whether you’re speaking to them over the phone or in person. Their ENVIRONMENT is pretty much a take out place. They do actually have seats in there but it’s pretty tight which makes it uncomfortable. Also, no AC so if you go on a hot day then be careful not to sweat in your food like I did. It will make your sandwich extra salty. Overall, 5 stars! So Far.

Just had their beer braised brisket sandwich for $ 11.25 that came with au jus in a side container. I definitely enjoyed it. Now maybe I’m just a glutton, but it was on the small side, so I’m still a little hungry as I write this review. I could have used another half sandwich there. PS. The gal behind the counter gave us free otter pops while we waited. It’s a little thing, but it’s a memorable thing, and I’m going to remember that. Good job, guys!

The sandwiches are delicious! Sooo good! I came back for the Turkey Jam Sam on a ciabatta roll. My hubby eats the French dip and loves it!

After having three sweaty guys help my dad with some construction work, my dad told me to take them out to breakfast or lunch. They requested sandwiches, so we came here. The people working here are really nice! It was pretty sunny and a little warm inside, and someone was offering otter pops(or some kind of cute Popsicle icee sticks) while we waited for our sandwiches. That was so sweet! My favorite thing was the beer braised brisket sandwich! That sandwich was so goooooood!!! The au jus to dip it in was the perfect touch! I haven’t found a good hot sandwich that I’ve loved in Hawaii until now. so thank goodness, I can finally come here. Their sweet tea is also super delicious! I’ve never had real sweet tea but I imagine that’s what the real deal tastes like. My friend swears by the Turkey Jam Sam and Beet sandwich, so I’m going to try those next time! Parking is kinda tough. the lot gets full quickly but people come and go quickly. There was no attendant to pay in the center area and the pay machines only took credit cards. so be prepared to wait a bit when leaving because there’s a kinda big line!

First impression of this place. Hot. Cramped. I’m hoping we just came here on an off day where there was no breeze, because man, I was burning up in there where there were no oscillating fans or anything. The parking was sparse as well. And the shop is tucked away from sight. Upon entering, a dude popped up from behind the service window and he kind of scared me because looked like WWE legend Daniel Bryan. But he was super friendly and didn’t match the pro wrastler vibe he gave off, so it made me feel at ease. In fact everyone there was beyond friendly, and the service we received there was nothing less then exceptional. Now forget the heat, and the uncomfortable stool seating, in that cramped eating area, because that was exactly what i did when my taste buds swiped against one of the best GD sandwiches I’ve ever had. I had the special which was a beer braised brisket with Mac and cheese and ciabatta with some other sauce and goodies that I can’t remember. But what I do remember that the confection of flavors on that perfectly toasted bun was pure heaven in that eatery that was as hot as Hell. Seriously Earls is a winner. No scratch that, Earls is a champion amongst sandwich shops in which they’ve definitely got a classic LaBelle Lock on the competition. So if anyone ever suggests going to Earls to grab a sandwich. I suggest you answer back by pointing your 2 index fingers to the air and say«Yes! Yes! Yes!».

If only Earl Sandwich was closer to home, then I’d come here more often. But because it’s a bit of a journey to get here, I’ve only been here once. We got two sandwiches, cubano and goat cheese. Out of the two, the goat cheese sandwich was my favorite. No meat in this sandwich, just asparagus, tomato, and goat cheese with balsamic vinegar. Very different from other sandwiches I’ve tasted, but the flavors were perfect together. I love avocado, and so we decided to try the avocado toast as well. It was a lot of avocado, but that’s a good thing. The goat cheese sandwich is a solid 5 stars in my opinion. However, these sandwiches don’t come cheap and the sandwiches aren’t too big either. You must also pay for parking.

It was hard to locate this sandwich shop. I ended up walking through a parking lot through a small alley, then turned left at a Jamaican restaurant to walking straight to the end of a long alley way. Lol it felt like a long maze. Once I entered, I looked at the chalkboard to my right that held the menu. The shop was small, and held a few chairs with a long table by the window to eat. I was in a French dip mood which I ordered. Within a few minutes it was placed in a small plastic plate/bowl. I brought it over to my seat and was ready to eat. I took my first bite, and it was good. The sandwich consisted of beef, Gruyère, Dijon, fennel, onion marmalade with a side of au jus. The bread and beef was ok, but I felt that the onion marmalade was too sweet to my liking. The pairing of the spicy Dijon to the beef was fine, but it was overwhelmed by the sweetness. However, the next customer might say they don’t feel the same. I’ll revisit, because their specials look amazing!!! Like their beer braised chicken and their turkey club Tuesday’s!!!

I really wanted to obsess and become addicted after my first visit here. In the past, I had tried just a small bite of Avocado Toast from a Unilocal event and enjoyed it. However, that’s just simply not enough justice and it was finally time to make the trip over to Earl’s shop. After a hike last weekend, it was time… First of all, this place is small and very cute! It’s airy and open for being small– lots of windows and natural lighting. I like that it’s a small location. They’re all just busy crafting sammies and pushing them out. Cool concept and spot. I also really like that chalkboard menu they’ve got going. You want to know what’s not cute though? When you’re not greeted into a place where you are going to spend money. It’s not cute to not say«Hello» or «Welcome» or «Have you been here before?» ORANYTHING. Just a blank stare through you. What’s even more not cute? When things are«Sold Out» at 11:30 am on a Sunday and they are open until 4 pm. The menu is not large and so a small menu with items already sold out. How is that supposed to make me feel? Of all the places I could get bread and stuffing, I chose Earl’s and they can’t even offer me a substitute like a salad because, well…“SOLDOUT.” This makes me scream inside and I want to scream on the outside but I must remind myself I am not 6 years old anymore. UGH. Chorizo and Avocado is good and the bread was great but I just wanted to try more. I wanted to feel welcomed and happy here. It was just so…“OK well that was fine but definitely not going out of my way for it and don’t even think I’d remember to recommend it.“ Darn!

You know how someone posts a picture of something that just looks so incredibly delicious, you think that it MUST be fake? Well that was me, when I had seen pictures of Earl Sandwich’s instagram account. I had kept seeing these wonderful pictures of juicy looking sandwiches pop up on my feed and I immediately searched for this sandwich heaven on Unilocal and bookmarked it. I kept awaiting the day when I would finally be able to go and taste one of these magical sandwiches, and that day had come some time last week when I had found myself outside of a closed eatery with hungry coworkers awaiting lunch back at work. Unilocal loyally reminded me of Earl and told me that I was nearby so I booked it to Earl. Now its important to note that you wont be able to see Earl Sandwich from the street(dont make the same mistake that I did; i drove around the block multiple times –___-). So I called and was informed that they are located kind of next to Big City Diner, but was INSIDE the parking lot. Well damn. Gotta pay for parking, you say? But its totally worth it. Pay that 75 cents, because you will want to make your way there, trust me. Like their pictures and others have indicated, their place is very small, only having room for about 7 people to sit at a counter with limited space. Although they have a small menu compared to others, it seems that each item is pretty tasty. I opted for the Brisket sandwich, and my coworker had gotten the sandwich with the mushrooms and goat cheese(ughhh I forgot the name!) with their infamous bacon jam. I also ordered a side of the Avocado toast, and we got a couple of iced teas as well. Although there was a line, the orders were taken promptly, but the waiting game began. But like I said guys… totally worth it. Overall: The Good!: –The FOOD: UGHHHH when i bit into that heavenly sandwich, I was amazed at just how much taste was packed into that brisket, and how tender it was as well! Since we were busy at work, I ended up having to take it home for dinner, but even then… it STILL tasted delicious, even though it wasnt fresh! My coworker also enjoyed her sandwich, saying that it was really tasty. The avocado toast was just okay for me. But their sweet teas was really good, having a slight earthy aftertaste. –Service: Even though there were a lot of orders to make, the workers in the back still had a smile on their faces and kept apologizing and talking to the customers, saying that theyd be right out. :) The Bleh: –Parking: Sure sure, its kind of a fuss to have to go into the parking lot, go and pay at the meter or whatever, but its pretty inexpensive but worth it. –Time: It does take time to make the sandwiches, so if youre in a rush I would phone in ahead of time(if you know what you want). Ill for sure be back for more of that brisket sandwich!

I really wanted to like this place. I’d read the reviews, the pictures looked delicious, and I was excited to eat some sandwich goodness. And yet it was a disappointment. I stopped by Earl’s around 12:30 today and wasn’t surprised that the tiny little sandwich shop was busy, it being lunchtime and all. The line wasn’t too long though and soon enough the perky girl at the register was taking my order. I decided on their French dip because I loooooove French dip sandwiches. I try one wherever I go, along with Reuben’s which Earl didn’t have. The price was a little shocking. $ 9.50 seems a bit steep for bread stuffed with meat that gets dipped in broth, but I took it to mean their sandwich must be phenomenal. Alas, it was not. For me, a F Dip has three key elements that have to work together or else it’s a dud: Bread, meat, au jus. The bread was ok, a baguette that was nicely toasted. But smeared with a LOT of Dijon. Dijon has a pretty strong taste, and I wouldn’t go liberal with it on a sandwich that has simple flavors. Like a French dip. The meat was tender but under seasoned, and there wasn’t a lot of it. There was however a LOT of onion jam. The onion was extremely overpowering. So much so that it tasted like I had ordered an onion and Dijon sandwich. Lastly their au jus tasted bland. No depth of flavor I come to expect, and it tasted like it was beef broth from a can. There was also a small piece of melted cheese in there, but there wasn’t enough to taste and be graded upon. All in all one of the worse French Dips I’ve ever had. I’m pissed that I wasted $ 10 on it. The only reason this review gets two stars is the staff was super friendly and the service was very quick. However I’d accept bad service for a truly great sandwich. I won’t be back.

Earl Sandwich is tucked away in a small venue, located right next to Jawaiian Irie Jerk. This is a small sandwich shop and only can seat about 6 guest. The Grub. [[ JAMESTOWN $ 8.50 ]] this sandwich has turkey, mayo dijon, lettuce tomato, curried yams, and cranberry sauce. This sandwich was good but a bit sweet for my liking. [[ FUNGUY $ 8 ]] now this sandwich was filled with sauteed mushroom, tomato, balsamic reduction, cucumber, onion marmalade and hummus. This was ONO: D Overall my favorite sandwich was the Fun Guy. This is a great spot to come to grab and go, its a bit small in the venue so I prefer to take out then to dine in.
