Poke truck in front of Ashley furniture and across CPB on ward Ave. this is the cleanest food truck in Hawaii! Ordered the poke combo plate… 2 different poke and 4 sides. This is not your previous frozen poke from Safeway action. This is the good stuff! $ 15 for the plate but much worth it.

I’ve never been able to make it to the most Unilocaled business in the universe(or something like that), Da(original) Poke Shack in Kona during business hours, but I have been dying to try their poke — and now that Da Poke Shack has a food truck in Honolulu, I finally can, without hopping on a plane! Normally, I would not trust raw fish being served out of a truck, but this is THE Poke Shack people, after all. .. so how could I say no? Maybe because they’re pretty new(they’ve been open for about three weeks now), there was no line when I drove up to their truck today at around 1 p.m. I fully expect that to change as word gets around of their existence and excellence, however. This poke is LEGIT, people. The fish is fresh, never frozen — and you can tell. It’s not your everyday Foodland counter poke, either. They do seem to have a spicy ahi option, but what really sets them apart are their specialty flavors, like the Wet Hawaiian, an award winner, which contains kukui nuts and kukui and sesame oils, and the Shack Special, a blend made slightly sweet with honey and miso. And one poke bowl, which will only set you back $ 9.90(tax included), comes with TWO choices of poke, a side, and white or brown rice. I’m definitely looking forward to trying their other poke flavors, but I’m gonna have a tough time prying my attention away from the Shack Special in particular, which was love at first bite — and yes, they give samples! In terms of sides, for my first bowl, I went with the truck guy’s recommendation and got the very healthy hijiki quinoa salad. Hmm, maybe too much healthy for me as a side to poke. I think next time, I’ll go with potato salad, or maybe even the cous cous — just something a little less. .. green. Two people were manning the truck today, and both were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the offerings. My only concern about the truck’s current location is parking. Right now, since the crowd was non-existent, I didn’t feel too bad about parking on the other side of the fence, at Ashley Furniture. But other than that, street parking in the area is pretty tough to come by. Hopefully the people at Ashley won’t mind, and we can just keep parking there, because I am definitely looking forward to going back again and again!

Laulau is made with a lot of love and perfectly seasoned. Innovative sides to choose from, tried the hijiki salad with quinoa, and the California couscous. Both salads were fantastic. The poke is fresh, cut to perfect sized morsels and decently portioned. Have been here a few times and it has been consistently ‘ono. The beef stew is local style and solid. I will return and now know another solid venue for lunch in the greater Kaka’ako area.

Service was friendly and fast. The prices ranged from: Poke bowl — 6.87; includes 1 scoop rice, 1 choice of poke and 1 side Poke plate — 12. 87; includes 2 scoop rice, 2 sides and double to poke There’s a small eating area(long table) for about 5 people for those hoping to sit and eat. I thought the prices weren’t that bad and decided on getting the poke plate. I got the poke shack poke which consisted of mayo, avocado and a spicy kick(sort of like a spicy ahi/california roll combo) and the garlic wasabi poke(i really like garlic and this had a strong garlic taste to it, not so much the wasabi). For the sides I had imitation crab salad and the teriyaki ika. I was a little bummed that they didn’t have brown rice as an option but I was alright with the white rice nonetheless. Both the poke shack poke and the garlic wasabi I thought were a little bit to «mayo-née», I felt I was eating more mayo then fish. If you like mayo, then go for it. Apparently these two were the top ones. The teriyaki ika was a bit tough(gotta chew that thing a lot) and quite salty. I think it would be good without the sauce to it. All in all its a good place to grab a quick bite. I will try for the«non-mayo» ones the next time I get the chance.

Had time to stop by the poke shack for lunch. They had awesome and quick service. Above that, the Hawaiian plate was filling and hit the spot! Poke is on point, «white Hawaiian». The sides alone are are worth eating haha. I will definitely be making this a regular stop

Great food & Great service. The staff was very helpful, I wasn’t too sure what I wanted to get & they helped me put together a delicious poke bowl. The fish was fresh, the rice was cooked perfectly, the portions were on point & the price is hard to beat. I will definitely recommend«Da poke shack» to everyone.

Random stop and it was worth while. I feel like this was their first day open? Either way the flavor of the poke was great and very fresh. The different offers for sides were great and I enjoyed the hijiki(black seaweed) salad with quinoa. Next time I would order a plate instead of a bowl as the bowl portion was a little small. Also I hope they have brown rice next time. We will definitely be back and will be telling others. FYI closed on Monday.
