[Location & Parking] This curry house is located in Puck’s Alley. The entrance is located on University Ave. In the past, parking wasn’t an issue. However, now that they’re renovating, parking can be challenging. [Interior] I think this curry house is more spacious than their other locations. Theres quite a few tables and if not, they have counter space available. This location isn’t too busy so you will most likely end up sitting at one of the tables. [Service] There’s usually only 1 person managing the tables and taking care of the front so sometimes if it’s busy, service can be slow. I’ve been to there ala moana and mccully location and to me, this seems like the slower location. [Food] The food is exactly the same at other curryhouse locations. They do offer salads and ramen if you’re not craving curry. My favorite curries to order are the corn cream croquette with cheese, mabo tofu and gyoza, chicken katsu curry. The prices are pretty reasonable too at less than $ 10/person but they only accept CASH. [Overall] The Mccully location is closer to where I live but I prefer going to University location because it’s less busy and parking is more ample. It’s also one of the least busier locations.

Always good but doesn’t taste the same as the Japanese curry house and only takes cash. Overall pretty good food.

Currry, mmmmhmmm right when I think of curry I automatically think of curry house. Curry house has been my favorite ever since I was little and curry house helps with my addiction. My usual is chicken cutlet udon with cheese. If your a noodle person I 100% reccommend this dish. Its udon served in curry and topped with a chicken cutlet, I mean how can you not like that? Every single time I order this my order comes out the same everytime. Delicious. Also it’s reasonably priced so that adds another Star, lastly customer service is always amazing music try!

Third time I ordered takeout from this Curry House that they didn’t include what I ordered. This time, I ordered shabu shabu beef and spinach and no spinach. Never ordering from here again.

Food was DELICIOUS! We all got the chicken katsu curry with cheese and it was amazing! The serving size was pretty big. None of us finished our dishes without resting our stomachs for a bit and then continuing. The waitress got our order wrong… and it definitely wasn’t the first time she did. It’s a CASHONLY place, so make sure to bring your money! All in all the food was great and wait time was 10 minutes. It’s a little dirty inside and looks decrepit outside though. Still would recommend if you need fast, relatively inexpensive curry!

Been coming to this place for over 12 years and have always enjoyed every single meal. It all started when I went to UH Manoa and I had my first curry house dish with dorm mates. The university location is and has always been my favorite location — friendliest staff, great portions, and cleanest surroundings. Note that all locations, as far as I know, take cash only. Kind of humbug but it definitely doesn’t deter their patrons from returning. Other things I appreciate — pitcher of water at the table because let’s face it, curry is salty and I’m always thirsty(LOL), and the comment cards and pencils on the tables for the obvious but also when I want to play tic tac toe or hangman: D I’ve always found parking but I understand at certain times it may be a little difficult. The pucks alley building has 2 upper levels of parking but there are many establishments that share it.

Curry house, I love you so. You help me battle epic hangovers with your delicious shabu shabu beef curry with spinach, and help me get through long days of work your pork katsu curry with cheese. The curry isn’t very thick, but the flavor is AMAZING and works with their dishes. There’s a reason this place is a really popular chain! Plus, it’s pretty cheap and filling. I love getting takeout, but sometimes when I want to eat a LOT of the pickles they offer at the tables inside, I’ll dine in. They give you a lot of the toppings that you pay for, so that’s a definite plus! Although once I saw a lady complain to a cook that her curry«had too much cheese and was inedible». SERIOUSLY? No such thing!

Fried Oyster is very good. My favorite is Mabo tofu Udon with boiled egg. Although the price is very cheap, but also it has clean environment and open kitchen.

I love this place. I used to live in Okinawa, Japan and frequently dined here and i was ecstatic when i learned that there were similar ones in Hawaii. The staff is really kind and the curry is absolutely delicious. So why 4 stars? Well, they don’t have naan bread and you can only get your curry either mild or spicy. They don’t have differing levels like then did in Japan. You can season it yourself which is acceptable. FYI… their spicy isnt spicy at all. Make sure if you want cheese in your curry request it to be put in the sauce. For some reason they put it on the chicken.

I picked up the beef curry last night(8÷3÷2015) at 7 pm. It was tasty and smokey and the pickles and rice were excellent. I enjoyed it. UNTIL… I got food poisoning starting at 11 pm and ending up in major throwing up/diarrhea the rest of the night. I feel much better now at 6 pm the next day, but it was pretty miserable as anyone who has gone through this can attest. I did not eat anything else besides the Curry House Beef Curry and water for dinner. And we are sure it’s the curry because my girlfriend and mom all had dinner with me, but they all had down to earth, not curry house. Having worked in restaurants before, I know there are foodsafe rules for how long you can hold onto meats, especially when they have ground vegetables(which carry feces) in the stew too. Also, this sort of thing can be when proper hand washing/cross contamination happens. If you have a food poisoning alert, a manager should review the food flow and make sure no other customers are getting sickened. I called today to alert them in case anyone else started coming down with food poisoning – that way they could narrow down where the source of problems were. At noon time, the person told me call back after 5 pm. At 530 pm, they told me the manager was not there until 930 pm. My girlfriend went to Nijiya to get some groceries(next door) and went into just talk with them in person and see if anyone else had complained about food poisoning. They treated her very rudely. «Where is the doctor’s note confirming that his food poisoning was linked to our food?» Sort of a strange reaction for a Japanese establishment that is supposed to care for their customers and repeat business. We literally live 5 minutes from this curry house and go there about once a month. i hate to think that situations like this happen every now and then – they shouldn’t. But certainly, if you want to know the worst way to respond to a customer giving you heartfelt feedback that could save your restaurant, then copy what the staff at Curry House Coco Ichibanya are doing. That just makes me MORE concerned that they are too proud or arrogant to pinpoint where the problems(if any) might be. Japan office – if you read this, please tell me that this is not the way you handle any sort of customer feedback.

I love Curry with a passion and Curry House always seems to satisfy my curry cravings. I usually eat inside the restaurant, but they do have takeout options for those of you that are on the go. The menu is easy to follow and the wait for food isn’t too long. It is always worth it and fills me up after a long day at school. Also, it’s CASHONLY here for those of you hoping to pay with card.

****CASHONLY***** I’m a big fan but a couple concerns… If you’re a vegetarian, I always seem to find a piece of beef in my curry.(I like it so I don’t care) Make sure you do something about that, or stop being a vegetarian all together would suffice. 2nd, cash only… Good portions, good size menu with options and friendly staff. I’m a fan of the cream corn cheese curry and chix katsu curry(w. cheese)… Parking in back and they validate.

Looking for a good curry experience? You will not be disappointed at Curry House. It actually took me a while to find my go-to curry plate choice… I’m not a big fan of the chicken katsu curry which I know is popular. But I AM a huge fan of the shabu shabu beef WITH mushrooms(#iheartmushies). I get the spicy which is truly not spicy(trust me, I couldn’t handle it if it were too spicy). And I love the«crunchies» aka tsukemono(the brown pickled daikon/lotus root) that make the Curry House plates a perfect trifecta(rice, curry, and crunchies = #nomnomnom). Couple of things: they are cash only… it’s best to call ahead and pick-up(if you aren’t planning on eating there)…you can add more rice if that’s your thing… and they sell the«crunchies», if in case you want to take some home.(Note: if you eat in, you can have unlimited crunchies and your own pitcher of water!) For me, curry and rice takes me back to feeling like I’m in Japan and I love that feeling. I don’t eat curry too often, but when I do, I am not disappointed. And when I’m feeling like having a curry night, Curry House is my no-brainer choice.

If I had to eat one meal everyday for the rest of my lift, it would probably be Japanese curry(maybe sushi?). Curry House comes from Japan’s Coco Ichibanya where the serve one thing, can you guess? Curry! Unlike in Japan where they have different levels of spiciness, the Curry Houses here only have 2, spicy and mild. The spicy has just enough burn to feel it, but nothing too crazy where you’d regret it later. The curry«sauce» is served with a variety of toppings ranging from katsu to vegetables or even mixed with mabo tofu. For the price(starting at around $ 6.50), you get a pretty healthy amount. For a little extra, you can add more rice(or pay less and order with less rice). You can order sides as well in addition to your toppings(sides are just extra toppings). The quality of the curry is very consistent and is always very delicious. Parking at this particular location is rough, but there is usually always parking. Before a certain time, I think there is a fee to park, but Curry House validates up to 2 hours. In the evening(I think after 7 or 8), parking is free. The only thing that’s important to remember is CASHONLY!

Since my family practically lives at the Stan Sheriff Center during basketball season, Curry House has become a staple. Within walking distance from UH Campus, it allows us a cheap and delicious alternative to the fried or greasy food at the SSC. If you are driving to Puck’s Alley, there is parking in the back. Like any other CoCo Ichibanya Curry House, their portions are huge, their menu is expansive, and everything can come smothered in cheese! My favorites include Mapo Tofu + Gyoza, Stewed Chicken + Spinach, and Croquette. I usually intend to change it up and order something new, but I always fall back on my favorites. You can also order different sizes of rice. I always order«small» rice and am always surprised at how much rice that actually means. A LOT! Don’t forget to take advantage of the free tsukemono!

Visited CoCo Ichibanya once for lunch last month while in Hawaii. CoCo Ichibanya is a popular Japanese curry chain. I first tried CoCo in Japan a couple years ago while visiting. I was again going to Japan, but decided to visit one in Hawaii before I went. This location is at Puck’s Alley across from Nijiya Market. It is just down the street from UH. I believe the restaurant validates parking, but since I lived close-by, I decided a walk would be easier. The restaurant has numerous booths or you can sit at the counter. I like CoCo because they offer numerous topping choices on your curry. Prices are right too. I don’t think I saw any base selections over $ 10. Though it could certainly top that if you choose plenty of toppings. There were a lot of appetizing choices, but I decided to try their #1 seller, chicken katsu curry with cheese($ 8.20). The curry came out pretty quickly. The chicken katsu was placed on top of the rice with the curry covering the rest of the plate. Although I was a bit skeptical about cheese in curry, this combination really does work. The cheese gives the curry a more thicker taste if that makes sense. Each table has condiments including a container of pickles. I would definitely recommend trying the pickles with your curry. They have a sweet tarty taste to them. And helps to balance out a meal heavy on carbs and protein a little bit. There is also a water pitcher at each table if you would like to refill your cup while eating which is smart as it saves staff the trouble of going around the room to do this constantly. If you like Japanese curry, CoCo Ichibanya is the best place to go. Plenty of selections to choose from and a quick and easy place to get a filling meal. One last thing, be sure to bring cash as they don’t take credit cards here! A bit odd for a large restaurant chain.

I love how empty this location is compared to the Pearl Kai one. I’ve never had to wait for a table. I like Curry House in general, because they’re consistent. My favorites are corn cream croquette, fried chicken, oyster fry, and chicken cutlet. :). What I love most about Curry House is all the extra sides and toppings are so cheap! Parking is usually free. Sometimes there’s validation required, other times there isn’t even a parking attendant. Save room for dessert and walk to Bubbies after! Only bad thing is they’re cash only.

Came back here this past week for lunch with my co-workers…Curry House is always a great place to go for a quick bite. They provide great service, and food generally is consistent… but this past week, I guess I chose the wrong item… For lunch this past week, I ended up ordering the Fried Mahi Mahi, & I added spinach to my curry dish. What can I say about this dish… well, I don’t know if they pre-fried the Mahi Mahi before they add on the curry, but I must say, the Mahi Mahi was totally overcooked & the fish was actually«HARD» due to it being over fried. I was a little disappointed on my choice, but I still ate it anyway without complaining about it. Both my co-workers ordered the Fried Chicken with udon noodles… that looked pretty good, but for me, when I eat curry… I gotta have da rice! No can help… das da local boy in me! Restaurant validates for parking. Cash only, they do not take credit cards so be prepared to have cash on hand.
