If i could give 3.5 stars I would. Foods good, pretty cheap. Good service, relatively quick for lunch hours. Does NOT currently take card, so be warned! ATMs next door charge a 3.25 fee for any withdrawals.

We were craving curry! Parking isn’t too great here at Mccully shopping center but was able to find it quick. We got the pork cutlet curry which was sooo good! Eat there it’s hot and crispy! The rice is so good too. You can tell they use good rice! I love how they give you a pitcher of water so you don’t need to keep asking for water. Side note: they also do takeout!

We wanted something cheap, so we made a stop at CoCo Curry Ichibanya. I haven’t eaten here since back when I used to live in Tokyo a few years ago, so I definitely didn’t mind getting some nostalgia. I’ll be honest, straight up Japanese curry isn’t my favorite thing in the world. But throw a piece of chicken katsu on top, and it becomes something I could eat all the time. The place is clean, the staff is kind enough, and the food is CHEAP! I got a whole plate of curry w/rice and a large helping of chicken on top that I couldn’t even finish, along with a side of gyoza and a Coke, and and my portion of the bill was only like 10 bucks. The only thing that was a pain in the butt was the fact that they don’t take cards; cash only. I feel like for a place that’s big enough to be an international chain, they could invest in a Square reader at the very least.

Endless Pickled! Shhhhhh… I’m that person who will fill their entire bowl with half of it. Don’t lie, you do it too! Japanese curry is so good. Always add cheese! Cheese makes everything better! Unless you lactose then no no. I always get udon with cheese and depending on how I feel my go to get are clam, chicken cutlet, croquette and tako balls. I prefer udon over rice anyway! Then I cover my bowl with endless pickle. Unlike other locations, this one doesn’t have spice level. I’m a spicy lover, they just have mild or hot. which hot isn’t very hot. Other locations have spice level which I Have yet to find out if I can handle 10. Most friends get level 8, for the ones who are like me and that’s their max. This location is small, located in McCully shopping center. Main level next to coffee or tea. Sometimes when it’s busy might be long wait. Parking is tight if you park in the front, they have a underground parking to. Small cars will have an easier time. I like coming here cause it’s convenient for me. Remember: CASHONLY!!!

This is our return trip to this location after 5 years in Oahu. It is still my best Japanese Curry house! We order the gyoza, beef curry with spinach, and pork cutlet with kimchee. The foods were fresh and delicious! The portions were generous and price was very reasonable! If you want to use the restroom, it’s located upstair outside of the restaurant. Ask them for the key. Cash only. We will return the next time we are in Oahu!

This place is one of my work lunch pick-up spot. Quick, efficient, and delicious– what’s not to love? I usually get the chicken katsu curry with spinach(~$ 9). I always get it to-go, so they separate the chicken and rice from the curry to prevent it from becoming soggy. Yaaaaay. No one likes soggy food. Sometimes if I’m super hungry, I’ll add an order of gyoza(~$ 3 for 6 pieces). Everything is always yummy so it’s perfect for work lunch and when I don’t feel like cooking at home. ;) All orders come with pickled radish which really complements the curry. Few things to consider when visiting Curry House: 1. Cash only! There is an ATM at the 7⁄11 in the same shopping center. 2. Parking inside the shopping center. Weekends/dinner time are hectic but even at 7pm on a Saturday evening, I always find parking. You just have to be patient.

This review is for all the coco curry houses since I have been to a couple and they are all the same. I like to refer to this place as the McDonald’s of curry places. It really is so simple and cheap, but so delicious. Basically you just choose hot or mild and build the ingredients for a tasty comforting bowl of curry. I strongly recommend chicken katsu curry with cheese and spinach… yum yum dim sum. One warning… Bring cash, cause for some reason they all don’t take anything but cash.

It’s a chain restaurant that specializes in Japanese curry. Their menu is pretty simple. You can also add toppings and how much rice you actually want(which was new to us). They also have a very simple kids menu with things all children will love. Our children were a little tired from the beach and we didn’t feel comfortable taking them to any fancy or small restaurant. This seemed to be a great option to come with little children and their reviews were not too bad. I don’t know if everything just taste better in Oahu but this curry was pretty good. I had it with seafood, hubby ordered with chicken katsu and hard boiled eggs. My kids loved the kids menu. It was just rice, curry and corn.(pretty simple. Not the healthiest food. But not the worst!) The kitchen is open and you can see everything and how they prepare your meal. After your meal you pay at the cash register. Just remember it’s CASHONLY!

They are a great curry house for sure! I love their chicken katsu curry! They have different spicy option, but honestly it is not spicy at all. You can get it with rice or udon. I usually get it with udon. They also have different toppings, such as cheese that you can add onto your curry. They are a cash only restaurant, so don’t forget that $! They do have a parking lot, but parking can be hard to get at time. Service can be a little slow during peak hours but not too bad. If you are crunch on time, I would recommend ordering out, but the only thing I don’t like about take-out is you can’t get the udon! Oh and did I mentioned their portion are pretty big. It lasts me for two meals.

I went here last night for dinner because I’ve been craving some Japanese curry. As usual, this location was very crowded. There were no booths available so my husband told them that we would sit at the counter. Bad mistake. Because we were at the counter we got to see exactly how they make the food. And really it was way too much information for me. One thing that was interesting is that they weigh each individual plate when they put the rice on it, so that everyone gets the same amount. I was kind of disgusted by watching them cook my chicken and gyoza in a huge deep fryer with tons of oil. The fryer was dirty and all the crumbs of people’s past meat that they cooked were still on there. They also had a microwave and I wondered what that was used for. Well we saw them use the microwave to warm up a tonkatsu piece that they had already cooked. Not sure how long that was out but I sure wouldn’t want a microwaved tonkatsu if I was eating there. It kind of ruined my dinner to watch them cook from the counter, so I really couldn’t finish my entire meal. Good curry but sometimes I would rather be oblivious to how it’s prepared. If I come here next time, I’m waiting for a booth.

CASHONLY… Curry House is on our list for restaurants we take out from more then once a month. It’s a go to for quick, cheap, hit the spot meals. If you like Japanese curry you’ll love curry house. Plates are under $ 10. Be sure to bring your paper bc they only accept cash. Seating is limited but service is quick. Seats fill quick and they stay busy during lunch and dinner hours. They’re open late which is a plus. Beats picking up fast food for the late nights. Call in orders take about 10 – 15 minutes till ready. Decent wait time for take out. Wide variety to choose from and a lot of cheap add ons(ala carte) items. They also serve meatless dishes for all you lent doers. We love curry house!

I love coming here, the customer service is superb and the parking situation isn’t that bad! I got the Katsu Curry Udon($ 8) and it was a pretty satisfying experience. The curry was nice and thick while the noodles was very tender and yummy. The chicken katsu was perfectly cooked – crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I really enjoyed trying something new(I never had Chicken Katsu Curry Udon before), but would probably go with my standard. You can also choose the spiciness level and there are different toppings too from fried cutlets to vegetables. All of their prices are pretty decent so it’s worth a try :)

I pick this place because it’s convienent. Across the street from my house. Every time I want to get some curry(which is not very often) I think about this place, but I never seem to remember that they only accept cash. It’s funny, in a digital age and in a place with heavy tourism, they do cash only. The reason businesses do cash only, is to cheat in taxes. If there is no actual digital receipt of transaction, then there is no physical evidence of money to pay taxes on. It’s a stupid inconvenience, yet it is a problem nonetheless. This is no longer a «Cash Only» world. Even places that used to be notorious for cash only, i.e. Tattoo shops, are all taking cards now. Maybe one day, this archaic place will too.

Curry is awesome! And curry house is so yummy and cheap. This is my go to place for a cheap and very filling meal. I usually go to this location since its walking distance and its at mccully shopping center so you could get dessert after if you aren’t already full(haha) The workers are really nice and service is pretty quick. Downsides: this place can get really busy and parking sucks Other than that, go get some yummy curry! :)

I grew up in Japan so I have been eating Coco curry house pretty much all of my life! It’s a popular«Japanese» style curry chain restaurant that has fortunately made its way to Hawaii and California. I specifically pointed out that they make it a «Japanese» style because curries from other parts of the world are usually more thinner in consistency with many different herbs and spices. Japanese curry is similar to a stew so it’s thicker and usually has bigger chunks of potatoes, carrots, and onions. Regardless of the difference, once you try Coco’s curry you will be addicted! I will say that Japan’s Coco curry has the best chicken cutlet because the shape is always a perfect oval, thick all the way through, and it’s always fried to perfection! The chicken cutlet at the Hawaii cocos is usually thinner and a little misshapen but that’s so minor, because the curry sauce is where it’s at! If I could, I would eat here every other day but then that would mean i’d have to hit the gym: p

I love Japanese curry! I always order the curry udon at Japanese restaurants but I haven’t had curry rice outside of Japan for a long time. My friend actually took me here for a late night snack after racquetball. I was pleasantly surprised. Because I know the McCully shopping center, I parked in their underground parking which has its entrance on the left side of the mall. There is ample parking in the spaces seem larger on the right hand side. Upon entering the restaurant, I notice that all the booths were taken so we had to sit at the counter. I actually don’t like to sit at the counter but I didn’t want to wait either. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Japanese style picture menu. I was overwhelmed by the choices. I just told my friend I’ll just get the same as you. He ordered the beef curry with double beef. It was very tasty but not spicy enough for me so they give you some spice to jazz it up. I added a lot and made wow-spicy delicious. I’m looking forward to returning to try the chicken katsu curry. As long as you don’t mind sitting at the counter it’s okay but I don’t like it so I would prefer to sit in a booth which means additional wait time. Or try to go when it’s less busy. We were there at 9 p.m. and it was still busy.

No matter where I go Coco Curry House is always da best Japanese curry in town. I think it’s thick and robust as far as curries go. They have lots of choices, but I’ve nailed mine down to a certain recipe. I order beef curry extra hot. Rice amount depends on how hungry I am. Then I add clams, spinach and corn. Top it off with pickled stuff and a few squirts of their sesame dressing and we’re good to go Darcie will often eat chicken katsu curry but she always needs to have a croquette. As Jules says, there is something for everyone here who likes curry. Even the Keiki(kids) menus are really good. I Really like to buy their sesame dressing. So Ono and perfect on salads or as a topping.

Great curry, am knocking off a star because their spicy aint very.(REALLY even if you’r a total spice wuss you will be FINE ordering the spicy. I can’t even imagine how bland the mild must be or is their even any difference ?) I LOVE the japan Cocos where they have a 1 – 10 hotness choice.(Level 10 will blow your ass off and smoke will come out of your ears.) I love the Tonkatsu pork or shabu shabu. I always have 200 grams rice(The standard is 300 G. and thats too many rices for me. You must speak up or else you’r getting 300. They don’t dilly dally around taking your order.) Always add cheese and like spinach too. NO vegetarian options. Curry is ALWAYS beef based unless you go to some freak Vegan curry house that I don’t want to think evan exists. But thats a plus in my book. So i would like the Pork Tonkatsu curry, spicy, 200 grams of rice with spinach and cheese kudasi. PS, I just noticed that the California Cocos are using the Japan Cocos 1 to 10 hotness rating. MUCH hotter and BETTER. So what is WRONG with the island Cocos?

Curry House McCully rarely disappoints :) The only times I have been disappointed is when I dine after nine pm… Sometimes after nine they tend to «be out of» chicken cutlet. The wait usually isn’t ever very long and the ambiance isn’t very loud. My favorite part about eating at Curry House is the variety options! Side orders are fair priced and portions are really good. Service is usually pretty good. I’ve only had maybe one or two visits that could have been better. But the customer service is usually really good. Today, My fiancé and I dined in around 3:00pm for a late lunch. They weren’t crowded, there was no wait, and the food came out relatively quick :) My favorites are the chicken cutlet, shabu shabu beef, gyoza, sausage, or mapo tofu. Fave sides include the corn salad, kimchee, gyoza, and shumai. The junk part about this location is the parking lot… The stalls and lanes are pretty narrow, and there aren’t a lot of stalls. There’s been some busy times where I haven’t been able to find parking without waiting for a bit… There isn’t much nearby street parking either.

This place was recommended to us by a friend & this was a solid place for sure. Not too crowded when we went since it was after the lunch rush. I believe I got the curry with kimchi mixed it. Portions were huge for me, could’ve shared with the hubs. Definitely tasty! Staff was friendly & helpful with suggestions. I’d definitely go back to try their other curries if I’m ever back to visit that part of Oahu :)

Curry House is my go-to when I don’t know what to eat for dinner. I’m especially spoiled since this location is right down the street from me. My favorites include chicken katsu curry with cheese and spinach. Other yummy options include shabu shabu meat and the udon. Usually I opt for take out, and eat at home. Their phone customer service is good, and my order is always ready when I pick up. Unfortunately, the udon option is not available for take out. One thing I wish they bring back is the curry contest. I believe it use to be eat 2 lbs of curry and you get your meal for free. I personally wouldn’t be able to do it, but I know people that would!

Placed my order at 19:30, was told it would take 5 – 10 minutes. Woman walks through the door and warned me that hers took over 20 mins when he told her 5. I arrive back 15 min later, my order still not ready. He asks to see my receipt then re-writes down my order then goes over to the cooks and places it back at the beginning of the line. It is now over 30 minutes later and my sloppy hand written order on a piece of scratch paper is finally with one of the line cooks and am watching my order finally be fulfilled. Food tasted okay but the order of squid was half the size as the last time, curry was extremely watery and lukewarm. Never returning to this location…

There are no frills, bells, or whistles when you sit down at a curry house, but there’s still an impressive standard of service and quality that you will find across most locations. I have been visiting curry house more often thanks to their later hours, large booths and casual atmosphere. I had the curry udon with fried oysters and fried chicken this time around, an amalgamation of all my favorite things! The curry here is a traditional beef based Japanese curry, which is perfect with rice or noodles. The fried oysters were sublime, crispy outside and juicy inside. Only the chicken was lacking — it could be because the pieces are small, but they were hard and a bit overcooked. We also opted to add on an order of shrimp shumai for just under $ 2. It’s the frozen packs you can buy but about the same price! Not bad at all if you’re into that. Most curry plates start at about $ 6, with meat add-ons ranging from $ 1 – 2 and vegetables as well. When I want to feel a little less guilty, I’ll get Spinach or kimchee with my curry. Lastly, if you haven’t tried curry with cheese yet, you’re in for a treat! It’s nothing special overall, and sometimes I feel like I could be getting better value by cooking my own curry at home or eating elsewhere, but curry house continues to hold its own charm and reliability over time.

Consistently good curry with a large variety of choices. When I have a craving for curry, this is usually the first place that comes to mind. My favorite items include chicken cutlet, cheese, mixed mushrooms, shabu shabu beef, and eggplant. Nothing fancy expected here, just simple japanese style curry.

Japanese curry is so yummy, it’s perfect for that 10 pm hunger attack when you’re out with friends. Curry House Coco Ichibanya is a fast food curry chain. Everything is already prepped and just needs to be heated and assembled. It’s not gourmet or fancy, it is filling and tasty. My go to order is the Spicy Shabu Beef with Spinach and a side Potato Croquettes. The spicy curry isn’t hot at all, but you could get mild if you’re worried. I like the soft, thinly sliced beef and the spinach makes me feel like there is something healthy on my plate. The Potato Croquettes is just a frozen croquettes that they deep fry, but that doesn’t mean it’s not tasty, and don’t forget the katsu sauce that’s on the table. Last seating is at 11:15 pm, add the Curry House to your list of late night places to snack.

Good olé reliable Curry House, this location opens later than most of their franchises and never disappoints. It’s a relatively small venue with a few 4-person tables and seats at the bar-like counter lining the kitchen area. Clean, with a friendly wait staff, and the food comes out fast! Choose your spice level(mild or spicy), choose the amount of rice(regular or extra?), and choose from the extensive range of meat/vegetable curry dishes. With so many choices, I’m often making a split-second decision upon ordering. True Japanese curry flavor, but more liquid in consistency than some of the local varieties, which works well with their wide range of curry dishes. They also serve side dishes, such as shu mai and fried octopus, in case you want to supplement the giant portions they already provide. Only detriment is the crazy parking situation in McCully Shopping Center, although most times I’ve been pretty lucky. Very affordable. Cash only!

Okay okay okay. You’re in Hawaii. You’re a tourist. You want to eat ahi poke until your insides resemble that of a blue fin tuna. I get that. But what’s another thing you really need to eat if you’re on the island of Oahu? You gotta get some Japanese curry from CoCo. It’s a fast food style Japanese curry restaurant. If you’re from the east coast like myself, you do not have the luxury of eating curry from this franchise. Thankfully I was travelling with a friend from Cali who demanded we get curry from here. Thank you friend! I’m a CoCo curry fan for life! Friend got the pork katsu(cutlet) and I went with the Shabu beef with spinach. Holey moley that curry sauce! It’s not the best I’ve ever had but hands down it’s up there. This place does get packed but the turn over is fast, so the wait wasn’t long. Very inexpensive for portion size. Happy wallet and happy tummy.

Curry House does one thing, but damn they do it well. When I’m in the mood for something quick and delicious, Curry House is usually the first thing that springs to mind. Their selections of different toppings for their Japanese style curry is quite extensive, but I tend to stand by my familiar favorite order of takoyaki curry. And on those occasions when I’m not worried about looking good, I like to add cheese to my takoyaki curry because cheese makes everything taste better. But you might be asking yourself why I say that? Well, I don’t know about you, but ooey, gooey cheese strings stretching from the plate, spoon, and my face doesn’t scream attractive to me. Haha. Of all their locations, I frequent the McCully Shopping Center one the most by far. The staff here are all very courteous and attentive to their customers, and each is very knowledgeable of the menu and can answer basically any curry related question you can come up with. The servers are the friendliest of any CoCo Ichinabya I’ve been to, and that includes even the ones in Tokyo. Whether I’m seated at the bar or a booth, I’m always greeted with a smile. That kinda customer service is so important to developing a great experience and ambiance, and the McCully Shopping Center location has the staff to truly deliver. And maybe it’s only in my head, or maybe it’s due to the exemplary service provided, but I swear even the curry tastes better here than at other Curry Houses! There are not many places you can go where you’re gonna leave full, satisfied, and happy for less than $ 10 per person. Curry House, however, is definitely one that falls in that category, and in my opinion is the leader of the pack. I’m never not in the mood for a meal here, and it’s probably become my favorite quick service, sit-down restaurant around.
