The BOH burger and the fresh catch sandwich were delicious! Found this on Unilocal and I was very happy we came here.

I am a bit biased towards Café Blue since I visit practically every day and receive an employee discount. :D However, while most lunch specials and soup/salads are decent, there are some bad ones, on occasion. The food is just not consistent from one day to the next. For example, I used to love the fish and chips lunch special, but the last few times it was oily and soggy, a major disappointment. I believe they fry up big batches at a time and leave it under the warmer(piled high) instead of making it to order. Once I bought a bento to take home and it was good… but the next time the fried chicken was raw on the inside. Yeah, not very pleasant. They did refund me the next day when I mentioned it, apparently I wasn’t the only complaint. The staff are all amazing and work their butts off(non-bank employees), which is a huge reason why I don’t mind visiting often. My go-to’s are the mini breakfast, salads, and chowders. Again, it’s convenient and fairly reasonable, which is what gets me back here. 3.5 stars.

This is a nice dine in experience, not fancy but being it’s in the business banking bldg of BOH, many business folks are found here. The service is fast and friendly. As for the food, so far can’t say I have complaints!!!

If B = Bank of Hawaii main branch, L = lunch, U = up the elevators, and E = excellent, then B+L+U+E = excellent lunch up the elevators(in the) Bank of Hawaii main branch! Even if you are not a math whiz, this is one worthwhile downtown Honolulu lunchtime equation that you’ll be glad you memorized! A few coworkers(including Carly H.!) and I decided to grab lunch at Café Blue on a recent Friday. We met up in front of the main BOH building at King and Bishop and went straight on up! After entering the main branch, head to the elevators on the makai side of the building and go to the 6th floor. Turn left as you get off at the 6th floor and you’ll be right at the Café Blue entrance! As you walk through, there are a lot of to-go options: sandwiches, salads, fruit cups, drinks, snacks, and even a F’real milkshake machine if you need lunch in a rush. Since we had time, we decided to check out their menu board instead of getting to-go stuff. There were a number of sandwiches and other snacks, as well as a Hawaiian plate special. It was tough deciding what to get because everything sounded good and was reasonably priced! Café Blue is cafeteria style, so pick up your to-go items(if any) before going to the register to pay. There was no line at the cashiers, and there were even two of them helping customers, so I didn’t have a wait before ordering! They take card, which was really nice as well. After I ordered, I went to grab a table while everyone else placed their orders. There are indoor and outdoor seating options, and the indoor seats fill up pretty fast especially since its been so hot recently! I was able to grab a nice large table in the mauka corner of the seating area that was perfect for our group of 5. I had the prime rib sandwich(special of the day, $ 8.95) and opted for toss salad instead of potato wedges. I was very surprised with the sandwich! The bread was crunchy and toasted on the outside, but soft and warm on the inside. The prime rib was cooked excellently, not too red and not too tough! Usually, I’m not able to finish a sandwich in one sitting, but that was not the case here. Even though I had a full sandwich, I ate it all! The toss salad was nothing exciting, just romaine with a simple balsamic dressing, but it was refreshing and went well with the heavy sandwich. Café Blue is a great simple lunch spot downtown, and I hope to be back someday to try some of their regular menu offerings! TL;DR — 6th floor of main BOH branch, indoor and outdoor seating, and awesome sandwich deals!

Café Blue is one of my go-to restaurants for lunch downtown. Whether you’re looking for a nice place to sit down and have lunch with coworkers or just grabbing food to go, Café Blue is a great place to go to. It’s located on the 6th floor of the Bank of Hawaii building, so it is centrally located downtown and has a pretty nice view. But what I love most are their daily specials! They’re delicious and very affordable(usually only around $ 8 per plate), and they have a new one each day. The calendar can be found here: In the past couple weeks, I’ve gone to Café Blue at least 6 times because their specials this month have been awesome! Some of the daily specials I’ve tried this month include: — Furikake fish katsu with wasabi aioli — Mochiko chicken — Crab-crusted fresh cath of the day — Pork adobo And I have yet to be disappointed by their food! Also, if you’re craving dessert, their selection of panna cottas is amazing! My favorite is the green tea panna cotta. Café Blue is definitely a must-try for anyone who works downtown!

Hidden little gem. If you didn’t know, there is a café inside the Bank of Hawaii building in downtown HNL. It’s on the 6th floor, has it’s own little sitting area inside and outside. Very clean, AC, TV sets, open and relaxed. The prices are very reasonable and the quality of food is on par. I tried their Chicken panini, sprouts, provolone, garlic aioli, slices of chicken breast on ciabatta bread, also comes with either salad or fries for $ 8.95! So I couldn’t finish the whole thing, but I’ve become sorta a small eater. But the portions are quite nice for almost anyone! For those with sweet tooths, check this place out for the Freal machine! They also serve jello and pudding bowls(childhood nostalgia). You have your choices of fountain or bottled drinks. Really this is the place to grab your lunch when you can’t decide on anywhere else! :D

Didn’t even know this place existed until I got a job with BoH and they told me about it. Got to try it for the first time during my orientation and was surprised at how good it was for a «cafeteria» like setting. They have daily specials at very reasonable prices. I think the most expensive thing they had was like $ 10 or $ 12. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed, mostly full of bank employees, but you’ll often times find the average Joe from off the street here. If you need to find it, its located in the main Bank of Hawaii Branch on the 6th floor. Just ask the security guard in front of the elevators and they’ll be more than happy to help.

Nice downtown cafeteria. They have cold and hot options and lunch specials. I had a fish sandwich and fries, which was good. Space is light with lots of windows.

This place was alright. A little pricey for cafeteria food. Ordered their fresh catch of the day sandwich aka Mahi Mahi… tasted BLAND and the fries were stale. Definitely would not eat here again.

Holy poop this place was hard to find! Cara O. and I decided we wanted to try something new for lunch, so we pulled out our totally awesome, handy dandy, UnilocalAPP and searched for cafés in the area. We actually had a hard time finding it, first we were on the wrong side of the road. Then we realized it was in the Bank of Hawaii building, but went into the building next to it thinking it was the same thing. Sigh, we have no sense of direction I tell you. We finally realized that you have to actually go into the bank and find the elevators located on the left side and go to the 6th floor. First experience here, I must say I like it. It has a cafeteria atmosphere and it’s really mellow and not super crowded. Usually when I eat downtown I feel like there are lines everywhere and no places to sit. Here wasn’t busy and had plenty of seating options. The Grub. [[ GARDENFRESHPANINI $ 6.95 ]] Grilled portabella mushrooms, eggplant, zucchini, squash, alfalfa sprouts, hummus, romesco sauce, ciabatta bread. Overall: This is definitely a great lunch spot.

This place is just alright. I come here occasionally when I see something interesting on their daily menu. Check it out here at (updated monthly). Plate lunches cost ~$ 8 and comes with salad and either white or brown rice. Unless the daily special is good, most of the times i went they weren’t too busy. However when they do get busy, service tends to suffer(mixed up/wrong order), time to get your order increases substantially. Not too hard to find, go in the back of the BOH bldg and take the elevator to the 6th floor. Pros: lots of comfy seats/tables and 2 big screen tvs.

Okay, so I have worked in downtown for almost 5 years now, and have decided that this is the best place to get a fresh fish sandwich. Considering cost, and what you get it gets no better. With fries or a side salad for less than $ 8? I’m really no sure what else you want. Plate lunches for about $ 7 too? They change it up and you can have brown rice! They are consistently quick, with the same quality over and over again. A hidden awkwardly placed gem in the midst of aloha shirts & ugly dress pants.

I found out that my sister-in-law(Brother’s wife’s sister, is my sister-in-law right?) works at the Hawaian Telcom building just a couple weeks ago and we decided to have a lunch date! What do we do when we don’t know where to have lunch in downtown?!? UnilocalIT! I usualy am a loner at lunch, I go to fort street mall or somewhere along those lines and just get me a quick to-go meal! But this time, I wanted to take her soewhere that we could sit down and catch up! I Unilocaled«downtown lunch» and café blue was on the first page! It took me a while but I realized that I’ve been hear before about 2 years ago with a friend but I didn’t realize it was Café blue until one of the reviews said that it was located on the 6th floor! Then it came to me! All I remember eating there was a small salad and soup, But my friend ordered I think a panini and thats what made me want to come back to day and take my sister-in-law! So i picked her up from work and we walked to the Bank of Hawaii building and took the elevators up to the 6th floor to Café blue! It looked even better than when I came 2 years ago! We stopped at the menu and decided what to get. I got the Turkey Avacado Club with fries(I know, so bad for me. I will work it off tonight at the YMCA, I swear!) and my SIL got the Suzy Q burger with half toss nad half fries. My club was awesome! I mean I dont think I ever had a club so good before! It consisted of: Turkey, Avocado, swiss cheese, bacon, alfalfa sprouts, tomatoes, and pesto all in a warm crispy ciabatta bread! It was so good! I was gonna get clam chowder but when I seen a plate that the lady in front of me, the portion was huge! So i just stuck to the club. We went at about 12:45ish, so the line wasnt that long considering they close at 2. The ladies behind the counter were really nice! And that alone deserves 1 star! There is also a big seating area! and you can sit ouside and enjoy the view! I have’nt been here for breakfast but the items on the breakfast menu look delicious! And they have Fried rice fridays! I’ll be sure to come here again!

Located in the Bank of Hawaii Main Branch building(6th floor), Café Blue is great spot to grab a panini and a milkshake(because they have a f’real milkshake machine!). I wish I had more business sense and/or qualities to be an excellent banker so I could work at Bank of Hawaii. Unfortunately, I use a calculator to figure out the restaurant bill and have no business handling anyone’s finances. Lucky for me and the other financially un-savvy, this nifty café is open to the public. Woohoo!

Came here with a buddy after I was raving how good Café Blue was… Gonna have to drop my rating from 4 stars to 2 stars based on today’s experience with their kalbi chicken sandwich. Kalbi chicken sandwich was a HUGE disappoint for the following reasons 1. Where is the chicken? 2 slim pieces of chicken strips between the sandwich bun. Guess it’s just bread and tomato for 60% of the sandwich. Pic of paltry sandwich at . Is there a chicken shortage? 2. Where is the cheese? One glob in the middle? A first grader making my sandwich? 2. Kalbi flavor? I think not. More like teriyaki. Don’t insult a Korean! 3. Small portion of soggy, old fries. Charging money for old, soggy fries should be a crime in this country! 4. Charging me $ 8 for this? Are you kidding me? Sorry for being mean but really not happy with my lunch – I got ripped off… No pride in their product. Mannnnn, I gotta think about switching banks now! LoL

If you’re looking for a clean, no-frills eatery that consistently offers simple(but tasty!) & affordable grub, Café Blue is the place to be. Some of my friends swear by this place – they especially love the burgers – but I usually end up going with one of the daily specials. The food has always been decent – and great portions – but not particularly memorable. Essentially, this is diner-style food in a hospital cafeteria-type environment… which is good, if that’s what you’re in the mood for. And while there’s nothing special about Café Blue’s interior décor, I do like that the dining area is so bright & spacious… seriously, I’ve never seen it more than half-filled, even at peak lunch time! And in downtown Honolulu – where swarms of lunch-goers normally cram themselves into every decent lunch spot within a 3-block radius, every day at the stroke of noon – the wide open spaces of Café Blue are a welcome oasis. Overall, I’d say this place is at least 3.5 stars… maybe 3.75…but I’m fine with rounding-up b/c I think the«secret location» really adds something as well, hehehe. ;D Seriously, there’s just something kinda cool /fun about walking through the bank & getting into the elevator, which most people think is limited to bank employees. I know that sounds silly(especially to the folks who work there), but it’s totally true!

Café Blue is located on the 6th floor of the BOH building. Who knew they had a café there! If I had known about this place when I was working in downtown I would of frequented it more often! Came here one day on my friend’s lunch break. The place was pretty empty but we came after lunch hours. The menu is pretty simple but they have sandwiches, salads and daily specials. everything sounded good. I had a hard time deciding what to get but had this sudden craving for a tuna melt. So I got the tuna melt w/spinach which comes with a choice of a salad or fries. Typically I’d ordered the fries but I was trying to eat«healthier» so settled for the salad. I don’t think you can go wrong with a tuna melt, but it definitely hit the spot. Great place to for lunch especially if you work in downtown.

Great place to meet up with friends for lunch in downtown! To get to this hidden little café just enter the Bank of Hawaii building and head up to the 6th floor. You don’t have to be an employee to eat here, so don’t worry~ Blue tree has the typical selections of sandwiches, salads, and soups. If those don’t suit your fancy then they also have a board with all their hot entrees /made to order items on a board near the cash register. What I really like about this place is that it was spacious. There’s inside and outside seating with the inside displaying sports /news/etc. on flat screen TVs. I got the tuna melt(comes with salad or fries) and it was pretty good, though kind of pricy at almost $ 9. I think I’ll try a panini next time~

I’ve been trying Café Blue off and on for a few weeks now and it’s pretty darn good. Their daily specials are almost daring, especially when you frame it in the context of a huge bank’s café. And the grab and go salad is a good deal; the protein to salad ratio is good. Seating is inside or outside and it is never too crowded.

I keep thinking it will get better… but it just doesn’t… it’s just the food… just… THEFOOD… They have all kinds of food from sandwiches to paninis to soups. Their chicken noodle soup is really good. I’ve also had their brown fried rice which just didn’t taste fresh or great. The kalua pork quesadillas were meh, the components of a quesadilla are supposed to flow together but this one felt forced, the fries were good tho. I’ve also tried their panini which was ok. Maybe I just haven’t picked the right food items… but I feel like every time I pick something new I expect it to be great, and always leave feeling like I wish I had eaten somewhere else. o_o THEPRICES… It’s pretty reasonable here and compares to most places downtown. THELOCATION/ATMOSPHERE: It very much so feels like a cafeteria but I do like the large space. They have TV’s and carpet(feels relaxed). I also like that there’s an outside seating area. SERVICE: People here are very friendly: D Overall I don’t know if I will be back… if I do come back I will read A LOT of reviews before picking an item.

I love this place. It’s an odd thing to say for a «café» that is an employee cafeteria, but it charms me, strangely enough. First, it’s WAY off the beaten path. I told a friend we were going here for lunch and had to tell her to trust me as we walked into the lobby of the bank. We headed past security and up to the 6th floor café. +10 points for a hidden gem, like I’m part of a secret society. Second, in true cafeteria fashion, they have Jell-o and pudding in cups! How can you not love that? +5 points for retro lunch delights. The first thing you’ll see is a board on the wall with two to three specials — but they have a lot more on their menu, behind the cash register. First time there, I had the sausage panini and fries(and the fries were perfect: piping hot and creamy-crispy. The next time in, I went for the Bacon-Mac&Cheese sandwich and fries. That’s right. Bacon macaroni and cheese, on a SANDWICH. Brilliant! I’d detox with a dinner salad later. And hey, it’s on WHEAT bread — that has to count for something, nutritionally. They give you the choice of salad or fries, but come on, this is a no-brainer! Lots of seating, both indoors and outside on a terrace. Breakfast and soups, too, plus a refrigerated case of grab-and-go salads and cold sandwiches. Typical downtown lunch pricing at $ 6 – 7 for a styrofoam container filled with tasty, hot food.
