So sad to hear Brandi’s closed. I heard about this place from a co-worker who used to work nearby so we went a couple times for lunch. Really awesome plate lunch place above Kiki’s which served really ono local plates lunches. I’ve only had the chicken katsu and the loco moco. Both were delicious, I especially loved how the chicken katsu was breaded NOT in panko but flour like how Zippy’s does it. The loco moco if I recall was $ 5 and included a char grilled hamburger and really really delicious(tasted homemade, not powdered) brown gravy. The ladies who ran the place were sisters I believe and a couple times, they had their grandchildren watching tv and playing with toys on the other side in the booths. Love these family run establishments. Wish they hadn’t closed, it was an awesome plate lunch secret.

Brandi’s is located on the second floor of Kiki’s and may be a little hard to find for some people. There is a parking lot in front with a few stalls. The food is soooo yummy! The sizes are big and the price is cheap for what you get. They offer a bunch of plate lunch style items. There are also daily specials that change. My favorite is Thursdays because they have a turkey plate! Yum! It’s thanksgiving every Thursday! The chicken katsu is also very good! There is a bunch of seating upstairs so you will always have a place to sit and scarf down all your food. TIP: Watch for the cookie lady! When you eat in you often get a free cookie that is delicious! They are available to buy also by the carton. These cookies are awesome!

Brandi’s is a hidden little gem near the Hawaii Convention Center. There is a door leading to a stairwell going up to the restaurant. Look for the hanging sign. If the door is closed, it means the restaurant is closed. There is seating upstairs(cafeteria-bench style) and they have a flat panel TV, so you can catch up on CNN while enjoying your plate lunch. Kiki’s, the connected sports bar, advertises free wi-fi, but we didn’t check. The ladies working here are super friendly. The food is delicious and FAST. We were barely seated when the food arrived at our table. Portion sizes are good and prices are low. I believe the lunch was only about $ 5-$ 6 per person. I ordered the chicken katsu, which is a dark meat filet coated with batter and pan fried. It was scrumptious and just as I’d imagined. The batter was crispy and had that tastiness of freshly fried food. The macaroni salad was nice. The noodles were not overcooked and the mayo dressing wasn’t too greasy. I wish it had more kick(like maybe some mustard, relish, or hot sauce), but Hawaiian style mac salad tends to be bland. BF got the loco moco, which was also tasty, but he thought my dish was better. After our lunch, one of the ladies gave us each a chocolate shortbread cookie that just came out of the oven. It was warm, crunchy, and just heavenly! Stop by for some aloha and awesome local grub if you’re in the area!

Brandi’s may be a little difficult to find(located on the second floor of a no-name building) but the plate lunches are cheap and served quickly here. My co-workers and I are frequent customers as our office building is just down the street. They take phone orders so you can just pick-up and go, or you can dine in. They offer varying daily specials, but their standing Thursday special is a hot turkey plate complete with stuffing & separate container of cranberries … just be sure to get their early! They are known to run out of turkey before 12pm! I would recommend just about anything on the menu but when all else fails, I usually stick with their hamburger steak. A regular plate is $ 6.50 and a mini is $ 5.00! The mini has 1 generous patty, 1 scoop of rice, and 1 scoop of either mac or tossed salad. Another recommendation is their teri-burger … it is huge! And you can make it a combo with fries for about $ 5.00. Mmm, the food is delicious and the prices are low … what more could you ask for?

Ok… this place closed and then reopened. And I am SOOOOOOOOO happy. I love the chicken katsu at this place. It has breading like zippy’s chicken. I love it. You may think I am weird but i get it chicken cutlet style with gravy and then with the katsu sauce on the side. I love it. I couldn’t tell you about anything else because thats all i ever eat. Did I mention that I love it…

Oh, Thursdays and the Turkey plate moist and always good, it was good then and still is but now more people are showing up, because you just can’t keep a good place hidden in this town. It seems the Ladies here always seem to be having a good time and the food is good too. The parking here is in the lot a bit crowded usually for some reason but usually I always see a space opening up somewhere.

If you can find this plate lunch place on the second floor above Kiki’s, you will be pleasantly surprised to find a great hidden gem. Open weekdays from 10 am to 2 pm, plate lunch prices range from $ 6 to $ 7 usually. You will be greeted by a group of local Asian ladies who are a cute bunch when it comes to personality and service. I wouldn’t mind having the four of them as my aunties. Everything I’ve tried here is delicious. Today, I had the mix plate of chicken katsu and chili dog. Broke da mouth!(See my photo) I never leave this place hungry. Generous portions which means great value at their reasonable price points. Get all your local favorites here with home cooked flavor. Much better than going to Zippy’s or other similar places where the food is pre-manufactured and delivered to the location. Brandi’s is home cooked flavor, feeling, and value. Lots of seating if you want to eat here or take-out is available. Parking is a little strange in the lot there, but you’ll figure it out. If you haven’t been there, it’s a must try. If you’ve been there already, it’s a must return.

This place is a bit hard to find, as you have to go into Kiki’s(the bar) and walk up the stairs to the second floor. They serve standard plate lunch fare, perhaps cheaper than at most places. Everyone looks forward to Thursdays, when they have roast turkey.
