Bistro Sun on King Street is out of business. Bummer. Michael, former manager of Bistro Sun, is now at Gaku.

One of my current favorites. A nice walk from my place since parking is a bit funky at night. Try the Bistro salad, which seems to have lots of Maui onions on it. I wish they would give more chilled, cooked brocolli with the yummy aioli dressing, but the normal dressing and veggies are great. The Crab with tomato cream pasta was perfect! A great blend of cream sauce and marinara with perfectly cooked crab legs in easy to open shells over spaghetti. A little pricey, but well worth it for the quality and taste.

I drive by everyday when I go to work, but I never noticed until a friend recommended, a very small but nice restaurant, but little parking, you can ask them and they will told you to park on the print shop few stores away. Service was friendly. I tried the chicken risotto volcano, it was sizzling, very nice, the taste was not outstanding but good. like a campbell mushroom soup with rice in a hot stone bowl. I will definity go again to try that Antonio Pilaf that everyone love. Make reservation before or you may get sitted in the small tableat the corner, lol

Gorgeous Antonio Pilaf(Bistro’s Signature Dish) Oven Bake Pilaf topped with BEEF&CHEESE & Glazed with Bistro’s Original Demi Gras Sauce. How’s this dish alone not worth four stars? it’s the very definition of savory. I haven’t even ordered anything else yet(my mom seems to favor the Seafood Macaroni Gratin). This Japanese-Italian fusion restaurant existed for over thirty five years in Osaka before opening a branch here(plenty of time to perfect this heap of beef and cheese… sort of my personal Turkish Delight). The décor is eclectic at best, a little weird at worst(probably how my friends and family describe me). The service we received left no bad memories. hmmmm Gorgeous Antonio(I guess that could be easily misconstrued). As we finished up, my dad informed the waitress that the food was indeed good, and that they would be back(and true to his word, they have)…this leads me to wonder if maybe I should replace my verbose reviews with just a laconic«Well, I went back»

I LOVE the French Salad here. I have dreams about it and have to have it at least once a week. YUM! And the Daikon appetizer. I love this place.

Don’t even bother looking at the menu. Get the Sicilian Pilaf! It is deeeeeelicious. As others have said, it isn’t really loaded with seafood, but it is bursting with garlic and yummy olive oil blend flavor, and it’s an experience from the time it lands on your table because of the way you have to scrape the rice up gingerly from the sides of the dish with your spoons(yes, spoonS, see photo). Ahhh, the fun! I hate to just echo what everybody else is saying, but it needs to be said: Michael, the manager, is such a sweetheart, I always look forward to seeing him.

I feel kind of funny giving this place 3 stars because the guy who runs this place is so nice. However, the food was only okay. I love garlic and seafood, so at the owners recommendation, I ordered the Sicilian Pilaf, a paella-style garlic rice with seafood. It was very garlicky, but it was kind of dry, and there wasn’t much seafood in there. I ordered the lunch special for takeout, so I also got a salad and 2 small pieces of garlic bread. The salad was kind of bland even though it was doused with dressing. The garlic bread was warm, buttery, garlicky, and left me wanting more. Next time I am in Hawaii, I will be back to order something different, and I will eat it there.

A great place for lunch with the $ 7+ specials, but I’ve learned the value is lost at dinnertime. Mike is a friendly host, who is very much into knowing each customer individually. I stopped visiting for about 6 months, and he remembered my name right off the bat! The food is great, creative and priced very well on the lunch menu. Don’t read too much into that… I’m just frugal

I went here a long time ago when it first opened. I liked the décor, the service, and the kim chee carbonara. Yes, kim chee carbonara is actually really good.

The food here is great. Like Mina’s review, the food is definitely Italian Japanese fusion. I recommend getting the following: 1) Hamburger steak(Japanese homestyle classic) 2) Tofu Lasagne(Sounds strange but really good!) 3) Pasta Pescatore The service is awesome too.

This is the place to go if you like different flavors dancing on your tongue. Bistro Sun serves a cuisine that is a fusion of Italian and Japanese flavors. I haven’t had the chance the go for the past year or so but when we did frequent the restaurant we must have gone every other week for about 2 – 3 months. :) food was that yummy. it didn’t hurt that i worked near by the restaurant so i ordered take out at lunch time. FYI– Portions are better sized at the restaurant versus take out. I remember having pasta and their sauces were always rich and delicious! they have a ika sumi(squid ink) pasta which is yummy if you like to try something different. I tend to have an eclectic taste for food, i love natto and liver *grin* Oh I think the soups they served there were very good too. the cons: the parking situation which consisted of a couple of stalls in the back by an apartment complex… which was always full or street parking. I also suggest reservations if you are really hungry and don’t have the patience to wait for an table. Service was very amicable and good but there were times it was extremely busy that you had to wait for a bit for food and service. Maybe it has changed since the last time i went there. I will just have a pay them a visit soon i suppose, let you know when I dine there again! :)
