Bethel Street Tap Room is promising. When I met a friend here for dinner around 6:30 p.m. on a Friday, the place was relatively empty. I immediately liked the vibe and the décor – any place that has chalkboard menus scores an automatic win, and there was plenty of seating(booths) all around the restaurant. That being said, there was only one bartender … one. To meet the needs of the customers seated around the bar. We were told upon entry that we could sit wherever we like, so my friend and I chose a table away from the bar, thinking that would be more conducive to conversation. It was … and less conducive to good service/being noticed by the one bartender. Immediately when you enter Bethel Street Tap Room, there’s the cupcake stand on the left that was calling my name. There, you can choose from an extensive variety from Let Them Eat Cupcakes. There were many flavors to choose from – Red Velvet and some seasonal ones – but I decided to pass on this visit. While I was living in L.A., I was spoiled by Sprinkles Cupcakes, but I figured I would give this company a chance during another visit. Once we got our menus, my friend and I both decided to order sandwiches. I heard great things about the coffee here, but since it was dinner time, I didn’t want to chance being up all night after drinking coffee … so I’ll just have to revisit the Tap Room to experience that nitro another time. The food, all in all, was okay – not stellar, but not bad. I was hungry and I had no complaints about my sandwich. The atmosphere was great for my friend and I to catch up, but the service was definitely lacking. But, the dessert at the end did make up for the mediocre experience. Would I return to BSTP? Yup, to try that famous coffee, but probably not again for the food. Here’s what we got: «The Cheesy Caprese»: I was disappointed that the«Mountain of Melts» appetizer was no longer on the menu, but I’m pretty easy to please when it comes to sandwiches. This sandwich featured a hoagie-style caprese sandwich, complete with pesto and thick-cut fresh mozzarella. Pesto is one of my favorite sauces, so this sandwich seemed to be right up my alley. I ordered it sans tomatoes(and it came with tomatoes anyway), but since my friend likes tomatoes, she took care of that for me. My sandwich was tasty and I liked that it included lots of pesto. And, the fresh mozzarella didn’t disappoint. I would gladly order this again. «The Little Piggy»: My friend saw good reviews about this sandwich, so she opted to try it. She wasn’t super impressed, but said the flavors were good enough. This combo featured kalua pig, Havarti cheese and caramelized onions. I think she was expectint there to be more meat inside, but it sufficed because we were starving. Plus, the hoagie sandwiches come with chips on the side. I’m normally not a chip person, but these were pretty addictive(and I was hungry), so I demolished both chips and sandwich in no time. «Cookie Butter Ice Cream»: Since I didn’t get the coffee, I opted for one of the ice cream flavors. This was the highlight of my entire evening. Though I’m not super crazy about the original Cookie Butter spread, this ice cream flavor is a winner! It’s ultra creamy and made with real Belgian cookie butter. You even get two Speculoos cookies on the side. I liked the presentation of the ice cream in the mason jar, and this dessert surprised me from the very first bite. I normally don’t like whipped cream, but the fluffy, marshmallow-like topping had me at hello. My ice cream was gone within minutes … partially because I detest melted ice cream, and partially because once I started eating, I simply couldn’t stop. I would order this flavor again, hands down. I was glad I passed on the cupcakes and got this instead. «Avo-Ice Cream»: Our server recommended this flavor because it’s so unique, so my friend decided to be daring and ordered it. She said it was«interesting,» but I could tell from her expression that she wouldn’t get it again. The house-made avocado ice cream was served with a side of dulce de leche sauce. That component was delicious – I had a scoop – but I agreed with my friend in that avocados were better in guac … not in ice cream form. Still, this was an experience, and if you like not super sweet, unconventional ice cream flavors, you won’t be disappointed with this one.

Bethel Street Tap Room has this friendly, chill, «let’s-go-take-a-shot and eat cupcakes» vibe and I love that! It seems like the Tap Room and«Let Them Eat Cupcakes» have combined their powers(insert Captain Planet motto here) and created this awesome venue to hang out and be merry. I’ve came here on several occasions and each time was worthwhile. The first time I came, it was during FIRSTFRIDAYS when it was the calm before the storm. Sheldon, the server at the time, was great. He told us all about the drink specials and food that was available. You definitely have to try the Seoul Bowl! It’s basically kal-bi flavored edamame and kimchi flavored peanuts… in a bowl! Great appetizer to start off with and definitely a wake up call to get ready for a fun night out. Another great pupu is the cheeseburger dip — totally reminds me of the cheeseburger hamburger helper taste but a lot tastier and will make you full in mere seconds. The sandwiches were great — I can’t remember which one I tried because I had five different kinds and they all tasted great — or was I already drunk of my beer float — basically ice cream and beer mixed together, which isn’t bad at all! Dessert is always an option especially when you’re drunk. The cupcakes are great and the red velvet were my favorite. What I love most about this place is the ambience and the service. Owners are great and always friendly. Servers always checked on us, friendly and got us drinks promptly — thanks Jordan and Sheldon. Great place to have group parties and/or a rendezvous if you’re ever in downtown. Can’t wait to go back!

1. VERDICT/VALUE They don’t have the cheapest sandwiches, but they’re reasonably priced and taste great in this bar environment. Recommended! 2. FOOD All sandwich meals come with crinkle-cut kettle chips and an optional house pickle. On this day, while my coworkers scarfed down the Italian Stallion and the Little Piggy, I chose the SPLaT($ 8.59): a rounded-bun sandwich with spam, lettuce, and tomato. Deceptively small, these sandwiches and chips can fill one up for lunch. Those familiar with the Jimmy Johns chain on the US mainland will love these sandwiches! Tip: call ahead to make sure the cupcake portion of the bar is open during your anticipated visit to enjoy great cupcakes! 3. SERVICE One lady was serving the whole bar this lunch hour; service felt non-intrusive but maybe a little lacking attention-wise when we needed more water or the bill. 4. ATMOSPHERE Folks loving the bar scene will love this scene! Enjoy lunch on high-top tables or at the bar. Metered street parking and a parking garage are available nearby.

Love the casual and modern feel of Bethel Street Tap Room. Service is solid and food arrives quick. Live music on Wednesdays from 6 – 9 for those looking to get away from a busy day at work. The food hits the spot and fits in well with the drink menu-think the warmth and charm of a hipster bar without the pretentious pre-prohibition drink menu. Highly recommend anything with their house made pickle-like the Jameson+pickle back($ 8). Its Wednesday, I’m exhausted from work, and I’m now enjoying some live acoustic music, eating a soft and delicious D’arby sandwhich, and sipping some draught goose island IPA. I couldn’t be more content.

Portuguese sausage in a «sausage and pepper» sandwich – yuck!!! Lettuce and tomato on a sausage and pepper sandwich — double yuck! Happened to be walking by headed to another bakery for lunch ans decided to have cupcakes instead. Sat at the bar and ordered a Coke and cupcakes and asked Karen, bartender for a recomendatiion. She commented that I was ordering cupcakes to go and a said no, for here. I am having dessert for lunch. She said, why don’t you have a sandwich instead and handed me a menu. Decided on the sausage and peppers. And asked Karen if she was a mom, since she seemed to care that I wanted only dessert for lunch. She said she is not a mom. Food came quickly and I ate the chips first and as Ibit into the sandwich, I noticed something off tasting about it, not the spicey, tangy taste that goes with sausage and peppers. So I looked at the menu and noticed that it is made with pourtuguise sausage, so it tasted more like cold cuts than italian sausage. Finished half and realized that there was no tanginess whatsoever. Opened the second half to discover lettuce and tomato… two vegetables that definately don’t go in a sausauge and pepper sandwich. Karen saw that I was done eating and asked if I wanted to take it with me. I told her no and added that it was made incorrectly because instead of peppers and onions I got lettuce and tomato. She showed that at the very top of the menu it says that all sandwiches come with lettuce and tomato. Sorry Karen, if you are going to pursuade me to change my original order your replacement better be on point. Needless to say when I ordered a «sausage and pepper» sandwich I was expecting hot, spicy sausage, spicy peppers and tangy onions. Not greasy tasting sausage, lettuce and tomato. Anyway, never again.

A friend recommended Bethel Street Tap Room for sandwiches so we decided to stop on by and check it out. I gotta say we we’re not disappointed. FOOD: We ordered the D’Arby and the BIG Bird. Both were absolutely delicious! The sauce for both sandwiches were perfect. Not too sweet, not too sour but just right! SERVICE: The service was very friendly. We asked our waiter for his opinion and he was very helpful in telling us what was good and what we could make at home. He even brought us water with lemon(we didn’t even ask for it, AWESOME). ENVIRONMENT: The music was pretty Awesome. Not sure if it’s because it’s a Tuesday night, but the atmosphere was very quiet and relaxing. Perfect for after work. OVERALLEXPERIENCE: Overall our experience at Bethel Street Tap Room was very good. I can see why my friend had recommended this place. Good food, service and atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!

I’ve discovered this place after noticing the previous bar before wasn’t there anymore. Me and a friend decided to check this place out and every single visit has been nothing but outstanding! I honestly feel that this a great place to just hang out with friends and just enjoy eachothers’ company! Also Happy Hour is from 4P — 6P where you get $ 1 off all items! The bar manager, Karen, has been so consistent about checking in with us and if we needed anything else! I love her personality and the rest of the staff as well have been so great! I’ve brought more and more people with us each time we come because this is a great place! At the end of the night, each person has said nothing but good things about this place! The food and drinks are great as well! For you first timers, I suggest starting off with the Dirty Pickle Martini(one of their house specials)! It’s different than your traditional martini but you won’t regret getting it! Also the Seoul Bowl and the Kimchee Dip are one of many favorite dishes you need to try! Overall, the quality of service and food items have been great! This is surely a place I know I’ll be coming to often!

We stopped in for some Sunday NFL Football. We were really excited when we saw the Bloody Mary Bar! Terry was our bartender, and he asked us what kind of alcohol we’d like in the Bloody Mary(vodka) then gave us our glass and pointed us to the Bloody Mary bar! Wow, bacon, vegetables, and so much more! We also had Black and Tans, which Terry made perfectly. The kimchee dip was great, we’ll go back and try the kimchee edamame. Our sandwiches(Caprese and Big Bird) were tasty, and the potato chips were nice and crispy! We got lucky because bartender Sheldon was celebrating a birthday and was kind enough to get us a Jameson’s shot with pickle juice back! Yummy! We had a great time, there are plentiful TV screens for the games, and it’s a comfortable place to be, even if the games are boring. Can’t wait to go back!

So close, but no cigar! The ambiance is very gastropub and it has so much potential. But we’re here on a Friday night at 10 and this place is EMPTY. Not too surprised, considering the place, which calls itself a «tap room», only have eleven beers on tap(… one of which is Angry Orchard…) They’re also sold out of three of their four«New @ the Tap» featured beers. I’m not particularly impressed by those either, though, considering the one I ordered came in a can. At least the bartender was nice. BRB, going next door to JJ Dolan’s… ALRIGHT, NOW I’M REDUCINGTOONESTAR. We just ordered a round of tequila shots and they’re OUTOFSALT. WHAT?! What kind of bar runs out of SALT?!

Did not have a great experience here primarily due to customer service. My drink was too strong and looked really dark compared to other pictures I have seen from Unilocal who have ordered the same… don’t ask them to fix you another because all they will say(with an attitude) is «well then I would have to pay for it.» They are NOTlike other places where if the drink is not to your liking, they will fix it. They won’t fix it at all. The lady was already grumpy to begin with and I would understand if there was a great amount of people she was taking care of but there was only our party and another on that day! Would i come here again? NO. Would i recommend it to others. NO. They get one star for the cookies — that was the only thing good that was served to me!

Chill atmosphere and hipster food offerings… Let Them Eat Cupcakes Bar is CLOSEDSUNDAYSANDMONDAYS. $ 1 off food during happy hour from 4:00 — 6:00pm. My friends had one bite of the Bacon Cheeseburger Dip and they dismissed it as hamburger helper. I’ve only had hamburger helper once in college so I found the dip kind of neat and tasty, but terribly greasy and unhealthy. The whole trendy deconstructed cheeseburger dip idea is fun, but honestly, I can’t say I would order it again. The rest of the menu looks okay, but nothing really jumps out and appeals to me, probably because hoagies aren’t the first thing that comes to mind when I’m thinking of bar food. If you’re looking for local-style pupus like fresh poke or heavy and filling deep-fried bar food, this is not the place. Service and drinks were alright… I had whiskey on the rocks and one friend had a beer so there’s nothing really noteworthy there, but my other friend had a specialty cocktail and unfortunately, she hated it. My friends were utterly unimpressed and uninspired to stay for more than one drink and insisted on leaving for better food and drink elsewhere. Don’t get me wrong, it was okay, but I can’t honestly say that there was anything that would inspire me to return.

Avoid the tap room. Worse service than rakuen. Happy hour prices not honored because their register clock was off. They were unwilling to change prices even though I showed them my phone clock which was before 6 pm. Not about the price mind you, it is simply right and wrong. In fact the bartender complained to the manager about me for complaining about their ridiculous policy. Service did not come up to our table. Had to go to the bar to order. Manager was unhelpful and rude as well. Very poor response to their error. Unapologetic and told me I could go somewhere else if I had a problem with their policy. Would have left immediately but was here with a group so suffered through forgettable food and irritatingly rude service. They won’t be around long. There is just too much competition in downtown that doesn’t suck.

When my boyfriend surprised me with cupcakes, I thought, awww this is sweet. Pun intended. When he told me that he found them in a bar, I knew that we needed to check this place out together. Let me just say, this is not just a bar. The Tap Room is your new favorite hangout spot, you just may not know it yet. They are perfect for the pregame, the post game, and everything in between. Let Them Eat Cupcakes can be found inside. You can take them to go or order some sweets at the bar. If you swing by during happy hour, enjoy a cup of bacon. I’m tempted to end my review here for those who may be thinking, you had me at bacon. But for the rest of you, there’s more. If you’re looking for pupus there’s nachos and cheeseburger dip. It’s a little salty for me but goes well with beer. And with Guinness on tap, I know I’m going to be coming by often. If you’re looking for something light, the salad is a hipster fave that comes in a mason jar. The last time I was here we were on our way back to our department Christmas party and no one wanted to leave. I ordered a Jameson with a pickle juice back. You heard me right. It was so perfect that we bought 3 jars of pickles before leaving. The ladies there treat you like old friends and I can’t wait to return.

If you want to go to a busy bar downtown on a friday night, this spot was hopping. As many before me have said, there’s not much beer selection. Tap choices were coors light, angry orchard, blue moon, or Sierra Nevada, with a few standard bottle choices. $ 6/beer. The cupcake bar looked good but we skipped dessert and ordered a caprese hoagie. After waiting 30+ minutes, I asked if our sandwich was almost ready. The bartender apologized profusely and said it was her fault and she forgot to put in the order but it would be right out. She also comped it which was nice of her. She really was sorry for the confusion and was genuinely nice about it. When it was punched into the computer, it was out in literally 4 minutes! We both enjoyed the flavors– lettuce, tomato and vinegar herb dressing come with all hoagies. The mozzarella was a nice thickness and could be tasted like the proud star ingredient it was. The pesto was generous and the taste went well with the rest. Bread was slightly warm and crispy on the outside, and chewy on the inside. Served with plain crinkle cut Lay’s style chips. For $ 8(assuming it isn’t comped), I think it was a good deal. We both just wanted something to munch on after bar hopping and when the Pig and Lady was sold out of what I wanted to get, we saw the crowd for pizza at JJ’s we hopped into the Tap Room as a final attempt at food and beer that we thought would be fast. It wasn’t fast, but it was good.

I really wanted to like this place. They have a quirky menu, with additional dessert items from their Let Them Eat Cupcakes stand. They also have a nice interior. But the food left a lot to be desired, my coworkers said their cocktails were okay, and the service was pretty inattentive once it got really busy. Likes: Happy hour specials when I went was $ 1 off everything. Not bad. The draft beer pricing ended up be $ 5 a pint(or $ 3 for Coors Light). The service was attentive before it got busy. The server even let us sample a beer before committing to get a glass. Dislikes: The food wasn’t worth the price. The bacon cheeseburger dip reminded us of Hamburger Helper without the noodles, and had a little too much salt. I think it would have been better if there was double the amount of bread, and perhaps a different cheese used(it tasted like cheese sauce). The Little Piggy sandwich was a little bland flavor-wise, yet salty, and the bread didn’t hold the sandwich very well. The mountain of melts was pretty much like Wonderbread with a slice of American cheese and salami, pressed in a triangle sandwich press. It was very salty as well. Finally, the Seoul Bowl, the peanuts were extremely salty; a group of 5 of us only ate about ¼ of what they gave before we stopped eating it. It was hard to flag down a server also once the place got busy. We desperately needed water with our food. Favorites: Despite the salty peanuts in the Seoul Bowl, the edamame, however were delicious, with a nice sweetness to give a break from all of the rest of the salty food. I also tried the chocolate chip cookies from their sweets area, and I would order more again. If you came here for just the ambience, the beer during happy hour, and the edamame, I’d give this place 4 stars. However, I’m big on food, and they have some kinks in their menu to iron out before I’d rate it any higher. Perhaps dialing down the salt on a lot of the dishes would help, and moving away from foods that remind us of packaged products(e.g. Hamburger Helper). I’ve also reviewed the Let Them Eat Cupcakes area before they moved here, and it still stands, as the cupcakes haven’t changed when I had some recently. Their cookies are delish, though and they had some interesting non-cupcake items I’d like to try when they’re in stock.

New bar? I have to come check it out! Especially if it’s in downtown. It was great that my friend plus his coworker were free for lunch. We didn’t know where to go then I suggested this place and we’re all glad we came. They just opened about a month ago but they run like a well oiled machine. We were immediately greeted as we sat ourselves at a table near the back. Water and their temporary menus came shortly after. They will have a more permanent menu soon. Our waitress gave us a few minutes then came back to take out order. Throughout the meal, she checked on us and brought us a large bottle of water to refill as we needed. I ordered The Little Piggy and my friend ordered The Italian Stallion. The sandwiches came cut in half so we swapped a side with each other so we could try both. Both meals came with chips and their homemade pickle. The pickle was awesome! Make sure to get it! Chips were a little greasy/oily for my taste. The Little Piggy was jam packed with Kalua Pig and veggies. It was about average(3.5 stars). Both of us agreed that The Italian Stallion was the better sandwich of the two(4 stars). It was full of flavor and it was a lot cleaner to eat. Our hands were rather dirty after eating The Little Piggy. The meal didn’t look too big but after eating it, we were extremely full. Great portions! We had a great time for lunch here and would come back again but to try their Happy Hour and evening menu items. Hopefully we won’t be too full to try their cupcakes. They looked delicious!

Bethel Street Tap Room is quickly becoming one of my favorites in downtown and there are many reasons why. 1) Decently priced food 2) Great service 3) Cupcakes 4) A decent variety on tap(Harp and Guinness included) 5) Pickles 6) Bacon Did I get your attention already? First, the decently priced food makes BSTR a heavy hitter in a street that is already full of bars. The Seoul Bowl is quite a steal at $ 6. You’re getting alot of edamame and boiled peanuts to grind on. The Cheeseburger Dip is another favorite of mine. This is basically a dip made out of cheese and hamburger meat served with a loaf of sliced bread and chips. And then, there is the service. It’s quite easy to flag down a waitress or bartender to get your drinks. And honestly, that’s all that matters. Cupcakes? Yes, being that they have a stall for Let Them Eat Cupcakes means you can buy cupcakes while you’re drinking. My favorite is the orange one. Being a fan of citrus stuff and not really a fan of cupcakes, this was actually delightful. While there isn’t a huge variety of beer on tap as other spots like Brew’d, REAL, and Yardhouse, its decent here. I do request they carry more IPA’s and maybe my favorite, Deschutes Armory XPA. Pickles. These pickles are homemade and are to die for. You can’t eat just one. Annnnnnnnnd then there is bacon. Complimentary bacon during happy hour 4p-6p. Be sure to ask for it!

I saw Victoria M. review this place and I immediately got interested by the words«pickle martini» and«cheeseburger dip». So with an agenda of restaurant hopping and this being our warm up spot, we arrived around 7pm on a Sat. The place only had a few other patrons in it. I initially thought«hey I came here for my birthday last year, this used to be that sushi spot»(next to jj dolans), and sure enough when we chatted with the bartender about it, this new spot is owned and operated by the Let them eat cupcakes ladies(who have the shop around the corner). What a cool concept, a bar that also serves cupcakes! I hope they last… Since this was our first out of many spots, we just grabbed a couple drinks and the bacon cheeseburger dip. My hubby had the reasonably priced $ 3 draft harp and I ordered the $ 9 dirty pickle(grey goose and their house made pickle juice). The drink was so delicious(if you like pickles), briny yet smooth, lil bits of dill floating around. Tasted like biting into a pickle(which they garnish it with-the actual pickles were a lil spicy) with just a hint of vodka. This might be my new favorite drink! The cheeseburger dip came with ruffles on one side and little soft bread slices on the other. Warm, gooey, and cheesy, it was everything you’d want a cheeseburger dip to be. Ground beef, small slivers of onions, and melty cheese were topped with bacon crumbles. My hubby and I almost fought over the last spoonful! :) Since we were moving on we didn’t try anything else but I can’t wait to come back to try sandwiches at happy hour– I hear they give free bacon to much on!

Another bar downtown? Can it be so? Located on the Beretania end of Bethel Street, this place is a rockin location. It just opened the other day, and I finally got to try it! It was pretty busy for a new place. I was pretty hungry when I arrived, so after asking for water, I ordered the Hot & Meaty Hoagie, the Bacon Cheeseburger Dip, and the Seoul Bowl.(I shared with a friend… well, a little. Ha!) The Hot & Meaty Hoagie, I liked. It came with chips, and was pretty big for what you pay for. I enjoyed it, and the vinegaryness that went with it. The Seoul Bowl was crazy. Ps Seoul is pronounced«soul,» in case no one ever told you. For just a few bucks, you get boku amounts of boiled peanuts and edamame. The kimchi flavor was good, bc it’s boiled with kimchi, and there was a little spice to the edamame. Good bar food item, enough to split with 3 of your friends. The Bacon Cheeseburger Dip was awesome. BUTBEWARNED… IT’S NOT A CHEESEBURGER. It’s a dip… think artichoke dip, but instead, meaty bacony cheesey goodness. Served with baguette-like bread. This was my fave food item I tried. I ordered a Dirty Pickle Martini, which is made with housemade pickle juice, and vodka. It’s almost a savory drink. Not sweet at all. I liked it a lot, as I’m not really into the sweet drink thing. I next ordered a Royal Orchard. It’s a mixed drink with Crown Royale and that Orchard cider stuff. At first it was too sweet, but it did grow on me. If you like sweeter drinks, then it’s probably perfect for you. It’s really not that sweet, I just like things bitter. Lastly, I ordered something that I’ve never ordered in a bar before. I got cupcakes. This bar is also home to a small kiosk of «let them eat cupcakes,» a local cupcake vendor. You can order cupcakes from 9AM until midnight, I believe. That is crazy. I ordered the maple bacon cupcake, as well as the snickerdoodle cake pop. The cupcake was good, but the cake pop was OUTTADISWORLD! Gotta try it. The service was more than outstanding. People were coming by left and right to make sure we were happy, and had enough of everything. My water cup was never empty! I believe they open(maybe just for cupcakes?) at nine am. They start serving lunch at eleven am, and serve some good up until pretty late. There are multiple TVs all around the bar, and I like the different types of seating. Cool ambiance, and I like the texture and feel of the place. I am going to go back ASAP, as I like the place a whole lot. So much so… if you want to go here, lemme know, I’ll try to join! LOL but no LOL.
