Located at the old sam choys on Nimitz HWY this place boasts Awesome craft beer, cheap pupus and free live music. Lets be honest and say that we don’t go to a bar for the food right? The same can be said here. They have a small pupu menu with the basic bare fare items(fried, wings etc). Nothing extraordinary just substance to counteract the beer. The champion here(as it should be) is the beer. For a relatively newcomer to the island beer scene they have a great and diverse selection of beer. The flavors of their beer are very apparent and unique. The namesake beer the aloha lager is decent beer. I dosen’t have a distinct taste that makes it stand out but I support local and would pay an extra $ 1 for one for these over a Bud.(Just wish they would have it in Vegas!) The Double Aloha was a killer! I can’t remember what the ABV was but one pitcher of this will knock you on you A$$! My fave of the night. We did the sampler and nearly all of the beers were drinkable. The only one that I did not care for was the Agave Lager. It just didn’t sit right with me. But to each their own. It’s finally nice to have a microbrewery in town. I’m not taking anything away from the other guys in Hawaii Kai but it’s just simply too far from ewa to get a growler filled or to enjoy quality craft beer. My suggestion Come for the beer and nothing else.

I don’t really know how I feel about this place. On one hand I like the beers, the atmosphere, and the newness of the place. The live music is also enjoyable. It’s just local enough to make you want to chee-hu(haha). On the other hand, the food is pricy and mediocre(even their happy hour menu is on the pricier side), their service is shaky, and the live music forces me to shout to my friends to make conversation. I came on a Friday night with some coworkers and the music started bumpin at 6pm(I’m not sure if this is an every night kind of thing). Some of our friends got there early, around 4:30pm and asked to get a table for a large party. They gave them the large seating area with sofas. Yes, quite comfy, but we actually wanted a table. There was an empty table right next to our area that we inquired about, but it was«reserved». 2 hours later, still empty and still«reserved». By the time we left, about 9−10pm, still empty and«reserved». What!!! The pupus I tried were also nothing to get excited about. Standard bar food like quesadillas, nachos, fries, etc. I did try mochiko chicken on a separate occasion which was very tasty, but didn’t come with many pieces. Wanting to carb up for drinking, I ordered the kim chee fried rice off the happy hour menu($ 10). So disappointing! The rice was definitely overcooked(mushy) and they used WAY too much kim chee(if that’s even possible), making it overly crunchy and giving the dish an overall SOUR taste. Ahh! Kim chee fried rice — $ 10 — Parking is valet-only, but free. There is some street parking along Nimitz(by City Mill) but it usually fills up early. Overall, just okay. I’d probably revisit if people want to go, but it’s not my first choice.

Ugh, where to begin. Typical pupu selection(i.e. soybeans, fries) with some regular food to be served as pupus(i.e. kimchee fried rice). They are known for their brewery, which they have acquired from Sam Choy’s restaurant located next door(to which is now closed for good). The employees are nice, the food was decent, and the place is clean. but what gets me is the layout of the restaurant. It is basically a banquet style room you find at any hotel but a «restaurant» occupy the room instead. There is a stage at the back of the room for live music. The bar is on the right side. On the left side of the restaurant is individual«rooms» with basically just side dividers to give privacy with couches and a center table for each of these rooms.

I like to try local beers wherever I go, so when I heard about this place I had to stop. I was on my way to the airport and wanted to grab a beer or two and some food before my flight. The only parking that is available is valet, but there is not a charge so it is a great feature. When you walk in, you feel like you just walked into their warehouse. I sat at the bar and ordered. The service was fast and there were a couple of TV for watching sports. The staff was very nice. I ordered a double IPA, Red Lager and Honey porter. All of the beers were good and complimented the ahi and spicy ahi that I had. I would recommend stopping by for a good beer and some average food whenever you get a chance.

Aloha Beer End Of The World Party! What! They World is going to end!!! UnilocalHELP!!! Mahalo Unilocal for the End Of The World Party because if it is my last hours on this earth I get to spend it with awesome Elite Unilocalers, Free Aloha Beer and really great food provided by Aloha Beer Co. This event was by my standards a super good party because I could just dress casual and get to know Elite Friends more than just faces and comps on their reviews. The food served was pretty awesome sliders, deserts, fried poke, pasta, salads and nachos with a choke things to put on it! I know that Aloha Beer has a lot of up and down reviews… but tonight they get 5stars from me for food and their service! Thank You Emi H., Unilocal and Aloha Beer Co. !

It saddens me to take away stars from my previous review, but it is with great hesitation and disappointment that I post this update. Case in point: I had my most recent visit at Aloha Beer just last night(Friday 12÷14÷12), and I admit I was looking forward to relaxing with friends after a long week at work. Walking into the restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Analog was performing that night. Unfortunately, the live music that Analog provided was the only decent and positive aspect of our entire visit. FOOD: We ordered the kim chee fried rice, garlic french fries, and chicken kaarage. Firstly, we waited for what seemed like centuries for our food to be dropped off from the kitchen. And when the food finally appeared, the server/staff member that delivered the food did so very silently. He spoke not a single word as he hastily set our food on the table and went back to «work». Before I forget, I should mention that my friend had run into our server on the way back from the restroom, and it was at that point that she informed him that the kim chee fried rice was suddenly«unavailable» and asked if we’d like to order something else. When my friend reported the encounter with the server, we all had one question on our minds: how does a dish become unavailable all of sudden? To make long story short(regarding the food), the fries were not crispy and you really couldn’t taste any garlic. As far as the chicken is concerned, it was very, very, dry. Very, very DRY. As you might have guessed, we didn’t bother to finish the chicken entirely. SERVICE: Not good. For some reason, we had multiple servers assigned to our table, and it was slightly confusing to me just WHO to ask for help if we needed something. Also, one thing that I thought was just appalling truthfully, was one of the female servers asking us if we were«ok» because she was about to go outside to smoke a cigarette. I was a bit shocked honestly, I guess I figured she could have easily just had someone cover for her, instead of the way she informed us about it. It seemed like she was asking«permission» ‘to go on a smoke break or something to that effect. Bottom Line: In the end, I left very hungry and very wary about if I’d want to return to Aloha Beer. Perhaps like my friend, Brian K., I should say«aloha» to Aloha as well.

I’m torn… I absolutely love the beer here, and the various size options you can order your beer by, I really like the atmosphere and spaciousness of the place, and the service is friendly and attentive. But the food, to me, left much to be desired. The beer here is awesome. I’d say that their selection of beers are my favorite local beers. Their red ale is probably my favorite beer there. I’d recommend that you order the sampler which includes their five standard choices, and one out of their three seasonal selections. If you and your group find one beer that you all like you can then upgrade, and order a 64 oz growler, or the 100 oz Aloha Tower! Aloha Beer Sampler: The atmosphere here is very chill. It’s a great place to just come drink some beers and relax, maybe watch whatever game may be on on their dozen or so TV screens placed all around the restaurant. There has also been live entertainment the times I have gone here. The service here has always been friendly and attentive each time I’ve visited. The parking is valet only, but they don’t charge you for it. That’s a plus. On to the food… KIMCHEEFRIEDRICE($ 9.95): Good kim chee flavor, but not too much else. It’s also a really small serving. I would say it’s only about 1⁄3 the size of a fried rice order from Side Street Inn. GRILLEDKUKUISAUSAGE($ 12.95): Your basic Kukui brand sausage with a cup of citrus infused mustard. Nice and tasty, but thirteen bucks for two sausages? Not so great value. CHICKENCHOPPEDSALAD($ 10.95): This salad was alright. Mostly chopped romaine with some other kinds of greens mixed in there. Some chopped cucumbers, tomatoes and grilled chicken. The dressing was sweet and a slightly tart kind of like a honey mustard dressing. PEPPERSALTCHICKENWINGS($ 8.95): If it wasn’t for the teriyaki sauce drizzled on here it would have been pretty tasteless. For an item that’s supposed to be «black pepper and salt encrusted» there was absolutely no pepper nor salt taste at all. I love chicken wings, but I don’t think I’d order this one again. ALOHABEERBEEFNACHOS($ 9.95): This was a pretty solid choice. It’s your basic ground beef nachos, but the thing I liked about it were the sliced olives, and fresh jalapenos. KALUAPORKNACHOS($ 9.95): The flavor was good, and the bbq sauce was a nice touch that always matches with kalua pork, but they were pretty soggy. The texture of the pork was kind of mushy. Note: You’re not getting a whole round quesadilla. It’s more like half of one. I have yet to find food that I really like here. Nothing that I’ve tried so far has wowed me. For me the beer is definitely where it’s at. Would I come here again? Yes, definitely. Would I eat the food here again? Yes, I’d like to give them another chance and order some of the other menu items. But what my main plan for my next visit here is to get a DD, and enjoy the beer! ***31 Unilocal: 14/31***

From my first encounter with them at Uncaged to my first visit to the restaurant, I’ve always received wonderful service from Aloha Beer Company. I was supposed to meet a friend here around 6PM. I came straight from work and ended up hanging out with Kelsi(the bartender) and some random strangers for about 2 hours. During that time, I ordered a couple of Hefs and somehow finished an entire basket of their complimentary wonton strips by myself. I also chowed down on some turkey legs, kimchee fried rice, and garlic French fries. Thank goodness my bf joined me at the bar so it didn’t look like I was a total heifer: p The fries took a while to come out so Stacey helped us track them down. My favorite dish of the night was the kimchee fried rice. The turkey legs were decent. The garlic fries just didn’t hit the spot for me, although I do love garlic. Our friends eventually got there and so we moved to a table. We had a great time hanging out and enjoying the live music. It was super neat because the performer, I think his name is Terry Tom, was very entertaining! He played a good mix of current hits from Adele to classics by Journey. My bf noticed that Terry was being lead from the stage to his table(during is breaks). Yes, he man is blind but can still jam on the piano way better than I can! The set-up at Aloha Beer Company is cozy and the vibe is chill. Follow them on Facebook to find out the word of the day, which will get you daily specials on drinks. There is free valet parking, but be sure to tip the guys working valet!

Our original plan for this Saturday night was to go to REAL Gastro Pub. However, that plan fell through as the wait was over an hour to get in. So the next plan was to go to Aloha Beer Company. Environment — Not bad This place is located right next to Sam Choy’s BLC. Parking is valet and its the same valet you use for Sam Choy’s. I was amazed at how huge this place was. As soon as you enter there is a mini merchandise area along with the host check in table. There is a full sized bar to your right and a full size stage in the very front for entertainment. In a lot of my reviews I actually count the amount of tables there are to give you an idea on size but I couldn’t do that this time because there were just too many and I can’t count past 10. There is also a small lounge area in the back with couches in case you wanted to go just for drinks or to take a nap. Best part of this place is the amount of TV’s they got. Great for sports fans like me. Service — Meh. so so Our server was really nice but forgot about one of my dishes. I had to ask for it twice and only got it after we already finished all of our other food. She did however apologize. I can always appreciate an apology. Other then that, food came out fairly quickly. What I don’t understand is why they close at 11:00 on a Saturday night. I thought it was unusual. Food — Meh. so so There were six of us so we ordered quite a bit.(Sorry, lighting was bad so pictures weren’t that good) However, most of the food we ordered were posted by other Unilocalers. Beer Beef Nachos —(Great) This was my favorite dish. The beef was flavorful and you could actually taste the beer in the cheese. Don’t worry though, the beer wasn’t overpowering. Turkey legs —(Good) Meat was tender and good seasoning. Reminded me of Disneyland and Disneyworld. Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings —(Pretty Good) Has flavor but it was a little too salty for me.(and I love salty dishes) Furikaki Fried Calamari —(Good) The flavor and texture was good. Kalbi Sliders —(Bad) This was the dish that they forgot to bring out. When I did finally get it, I was disappointed. First of all, this dish was 10 dollars and there were only two sliders. Second, the meat was super tough. I had to play tug of war with it and I lost. I ended up not even eating it. Beer — Good We all had the sampler which includes 5 mini glasses and they give you an extra one that you can choose between a hefeweisen, honey porter or something else that I forgot(Sorry) — Cool concept and a good price. Also ordered the tower which is a 100oz beer bong looking thing(Same thing they have at Sam Choys) Overall, I might come back for the drinks but not anytime soon as there are better options IMO. If any maybe again during football season.

I arrived there 15 minutes late. I used the open table app on Unilocal to set up the reservations, which is pretty awesome, I might add. I scheduled it for 5:00 pm, when i knew my babysitter wasn’t getting to the house until 5:00… brain farted I guess. Either way, the hostess was really nice and set us up anayways. No charge for valet parking, which is pretty sweet, but essentially you are paying them by tipping, which is still cheaper than normal paid parking. When I walked in, I was amazed, the pictures on Unilocal does not do this place any justice. There was resort style seating on one side of the resturant, which I thought was really nice! We sat by the bar, which was a bad idea. It was really loud, and I couldn’t really hear my fiancé, and the table was small, getting«The sampler» pretty much took up all the space we had on our table. Next time I will sit at a real table, unless I plan on drinking only. The food was Ok. Nothing to really rave about. I guess what they say is true, you don’t go to an Italian place and expect amazing burgers. The beer is the way to go for sure. I placed our orders: avacado burger with fries, garlic shrimp poke and edamamae. they were out of the shrimp poke, which I was really looking forward to. they said that the party the had going on in the back of the resturant took up what was left of the shrimp. So I ordered the shoyu poke instead. 10 minutes later, our waiter comes back and tells us they are out of poke… Really?!? So I told him not to worry about it. We didn’t have room for any other dishes on our table either way. Once we were done eating, and all our glasses were empty, the bus boy came and cleaned up our table. We waited 20 min before our waiter came back around, and he only came back because LJ waved him down. What is this? Did you forget about us? We were right by the bar, you can’t miss us. You walked by like 10 times! After we emptied our second round, he was quick to come by again. This time I asked for dessert, and he was quick to say they didn’t have any, then I gave him a weird look… then he realized that they had pinapple cheesecake. So you don’t know your menu? There is only like 10 things on there. The cheesecake was really good. He did come by quickly after that and we got our checks. I suggest you don’t sit by stage if u plan on talking. Every time someone ordered the Tower, the waitress or waiter would say Aloha, and maybe one of the bartender would say Tower. Come on guys, show some enthusiasm. Will I go again? Yes. But they really need to get more employees, so things would flow better. I really like the setting, and the ambiance.
