Came across this establishment and decided to try. I ordered the konbu musubi, mayonnaise cucumber roll, kobocha(Pumpkin), and nishime.. The food was just okay. The rice in the konbu musubi had no seasoning(I expect the rice to be a little salty) and the konbu tastes like any other places konbu. I wish there was a little more konbu. The mayonaise cucumber roll was made to order(took about 3 minutes to make) but it was too mayonaissy for me. It was made with WARM/hot plain tasting rice, which was a turn off for me because when I got back to the office the mayonaise had become warm from the contact with the rice. I expected the rice to be either salted or the vinegared rice. The kobocha and nishime had good flavor, but it was cold. Let me explain, on the counter the kabocha is in a little container for $ 2.00, same with nishime… but it is stored on a bed of ice. These type of dishes I’m used to eating hot, warm or at room temperature… not cold. I was the only customer there, and there was one person helping me. Idk if there are other workers. For my experience she was very nice and explained the menu. There are seating inside and outside. It is an open air restaurant. This place was okay. I’ll return again, when I want to eat a simple cheap lunch.

Aka has been open for about 2 – 3 month, this is my 2nd time here. They are located in Restaurant Row Mauka of Ruth Chris. Aka serves Japanese food. Today I’m having their chicken katsu bento. Food is tasty and service friendly and fast. There chicken katsu bento has rice with furikake, chicken katsu on a bed of thin sliced cabbage, takuan, mac salad, and I think fried daikon with aburage(have to ask lady next time to verify). All for $ 8, cash only. Waiter service, I put it as yes, because if the cashier lady is not busy, she will bring food to your table.
