This place is awesome, and a life saver. As I’m adjusting to the awful prices in Waikiki, this mom and pop shop seriously undercuts the prices of chains like ABC Store by a huge margin. The older couple who run the place are particularly kind, and every time I go in there they’re usually taking the time to have small talk with other frequent patrons. They’ve taken a particular interest in me given that they’re Korean and they found out I used to live in Korea, so every time I pop in I’m greeted with an enthusiastic«Anyeonghaseo!» and we talk a bit about Korea in Korean. This place isn’t trying to compete with other chain convenience stores or grocers, but they do carry all the basic necessities and then some at very fair prices. Just as an example, you can pick up a 1.5 liter of water for 99 cents(~3 bucks anywhere else), or if you happen to be a smoker you can pick up a pack from between 6 – 8 dollars, compared to 12 dollars anywhere else in Waikiki. And of course they carry beer, cold foods, ramen, snacks, and cleaning products and other things all for cheaper than anywhere else unless maybe you trek out to Walmart. So for anyone on vacation, or living here on a budget, this is the place to go for basic necessities or really just any other basic things at a much cheaper price than you’ll find anywhere else around.

One of the best grocery stores in Waikiki! We wont survive without this store! Love Teri and Daniel, too!

A classic Mom & Pop grocery store. The owners, Daniel and Teri, are friendly and helpful. The sell food, wines and liquor, sundries, bath and household products, etc. They’ve got the cheapest cigarettes in Waikiki, and even sell singles for $ 0.60 a piece! Tell them Shaun sent you!

We decided to hoof it to Diamondhead from our hotel, and about five minutes into the walk it became apparent we’d need some hydration. 236 grocery was just a little hole in the wall, and maybe a little sketchy, but provided exactly what we needed. It just goes to prove that an establishment doesn’t need to have a «name» to be valuable.
