Pretty good Korean food located downtown. Standard 4-choice vegetables and good chicken katsu. Has mini and regular plates so you don’t have to buy a large plate if you’re not that hungry.

Not my favorite Korean place in town, but a 60-second walk from the office and a serviceable plate lunch for under $ 7. A friend and I had mini plates: #2 bulgogi for me, #3 chicken for her. The mini size is still a good portion of food, with one scoop rice and two vegetables. There were about ten to choose from, including daikon, chap chae, tofu, and all the usual suspects. Nearly everything is available in mini and regular sizes(regular has two scoops rice and 4 vegetables) Bulgogi was fine — nothing special. The cucumber kimchi was also fine. The shoyu potatoes were fantastic — much better than most I’ve tried, and a generous portion size. We arrived at 1130a and didn’t have to wait at the counter and waited about five minutes for our food. The tables started to fill and a line began to build around noon, so go early for quickest service. The room holds six tables for four people, and they were full shortly after we arrived. If you work downtown and need a quick takeout lunch, this place works well enough to satisfy a Korean craving. It is relatively low in my lunch pantheon, so it may be a while before I return.

Never again. It’s must have been an off day, however I was not the only one in there feeling angry. Let’s start with the bad: took 30 minutes for a mini Bulgogi. Then they ran out of Ban Chan(which I was told is normal-whatever…) Then they ran out of money, she asked people in front of me for smaller bills. And when it came to me, she had to dig in her tip jar to give me my change. But the worse thing… is that the food is average. The Bulgogi is sliced thinner so it cooks faster, just no taste. The Daikon was soggy not crispy with no flavor. The good: there was a lot of people in there. Go elsewhere downtown business crowd, most of us have only one hour for lunch.

I’ve only come here once and got the meat jun. It wasn’t good at all… very dry. Wait time was average and prices were average as well. I won’t be returning.

My boyfriend who works on Fort Street told me the meat jhun here was good, so I let him lead the way. Maybe it was near closing time, but the meat jhun I experienced had burnt patches. The chicken katsu was the thinnest chicken katsu I’ve ever had in my life and not in a good way. What I especially disliked was the knob of cartilage I bit into. The breading wasn’t what I’m used to either. It looked like panko, but tasted like cornmeal fishfry. Alas, I can not even say this place is A-OK at the moment. I’ll give this place another try earlier in the day and do an update.

This is one of my favorite places to go for lunch during the week. It is convenient — a quick 5-minute walk from the office. The price is reasonable — you can get a mini(1 scoop rice, 2 choices of vegetables, and an entrée) for less than $ 7. A regular plate(2 scoops of rice, 4 choices of vegetables, and an entrée) is less than $ 10. If you eat in, then you can also grab a cup of water for free. Depending on what time you go, it can be busy and the wait can be long(about 30 minutes). If you go at a non-peak time, then the wait can be as quick as 5 minutes. The food is delicious. I usually get either the noodles, shoyu potatoes, tofu, and/or fried zucchini. The shoyu potatoes have got to be my favorite — tender, flavorful, and has a hint of sweetness. The tofu is really good — you’ll get two large slices of tofu that has been soaked with a shoyu sauce that has been seasoned with jalapeños and other spices. For my entrée, I get either the mandoo, meat jun, or the chicken katsu. The mandoo and chicken katsu are super good — very crispy. My coworker is a big fan of spicy foods, so her go-to entrée is the spicy chicken. She likes it so much that she has eaten it at least 2 – 3 times a week for the past 2 months and she is not sick of it yet.

First time eating here, and I am always skeptical about Korean food being spoiled by real Korean cooking by my mom’s husband’s family(Straight from South Korea-not the crazy North Koreans lol) So I am hardly ever impressed, this was no exception. My co workers and I called in ahead for a to-go order. I got the Meat jun(I know it is an american-korean dish) –Mandoo Combo and it came with 3 sides(Cucumber, shoyu potato & chap chae). It was really just ok. I wasn’t too impressed with my slightly over cooked meat jun-and by slightly overcooked I mean that every single piece of meat jun was blackened on one side-yum.NOT! The mandoo was really good and there was a lot of it. The best part unfortunately for me was the sides and the gochujang(red spicy-sweet sauce)-the cucumber wasn’t spicy at all but still good after being dipped in the gochujang. The shoyu potatos were perfect and I was delightfully surprised with the chap chae. Usually fast-food places have too much sesame oil etc but this one was pretty ok. I couldnt even eat it all-not because I didnt want to but because it was just disappointing. I dont think I will come back here again. Sorry.

Food here is ok, portion size is pretty good. Regular meat jun comes with a large portion of meat jun and 4 sizes. Good bang for your buck, the biggest down part… the wait. The wait for my food is normally between 10 – 20 minutes.

For some reason every time I come here, I feel like I wait forever and that my food takes the longest. It seems like everyone else who orders after me, gets their food before me. When this happens, I get pretty frustrated. I’ve tried their meat jun and bi bim bap so far. Both were alright. Average. Okay. Nothing special. Need I go on? I crave korean food for lunch sometimes so I’ll come here but as I write this review, I’m reconsidering if I really should. Downsides: they take VERYLONG, they are under-staffed, they aren’t so friendly, it’s CASHONLY.

Bi bim bap was good. First time I ate here. Place takes cash only. Service was fast even though it was lunch hour. Good bang for buck. Taste is ok.

I’ve eaten here twice now with my co-workers, and it is quite delish. I like that the food is prepared fairly quickly, the ladies working there are nice, and it’s very clean. You get lots of food for your money, so I recommend getting the mini plate unless you plan on sharing or saving half for later. The first time I ate here, I was adventurous and got the BBQ chicken(remember, I don’t really eat a lot of chicken, so yes, it was an adventure). It was good, and I liked the fact that it wasn’t too saucy like some BBQ chicken tends to be. The veggies I chose left a lot to be desired though. Mac salad had no flavor, bean sprouts slightly under seasoned, and zucchini jun was ice cold. Today I had the bi bim kook soo, no meat, spicy. This only comes in regular size, and it was HUGE, but a great deal at $ 5.95. And it was spicy. But, I like spicy, so I didn’t mind(you can get mild, medium, or spicy). It was so refreshing with all the veggies and made for the perfect healthy lunch. This will probably be my go-to dish for days where I don’t feel like getting weighed down by rice.

It’s always super fast service, and delicious so I have no complaints at all! The owner is always super nice, and it’s never really crowded so I’m hoping they don’t close! Try it! You’ll love it! Don’t forget, cash only!

Food: Again, as a vegetarian, maybe my stars shouldn’t be weighted as heavily as those that can chime in about the meat dishes. Because let’s keep it really real, folks. The side dishes at a korean joint could be amazing, but if the kalbi, mandoo, or meat jun are crappy, no one gives a rip about your veggies. So all I can speak to are the non-meat offerings. For $ 7.50 I get enough veggies to share w Lacey and we still can’t finish our food. Huge portions. For that amount of money, we got 2 orders of fresh tofu, choi sum, chop chae, and spicy roasted eggplant. Tasty and a bargain. No complaints here. Service: The lady is nice enough, but when it’s crowded, the wait is gnarly. Kind of hit and miss for how long it will take to get your food. Bang-a-rang: Did you catch that bit about how for $ 7.50(depends how many sides you order) you get enough food to easily feed two people? Bargains are hard to come by in downtown. Cha-ching. Heads-up: Cash only. And they cater. So if you cater a meeting for $ 300+ you better have cash. And like it. My Usual: Veggie plate. More veggies than you’d ever get at Ahi Vegetable. Pffft. Who saw that one coming?

2Go BBQ is a good, fairly priced & tasty Korean bbq restaurant located in Fort Street Mall in downtown. The choices here are pretty standard fare for Korean bbq plate lunch, so you’ll find everything from meat jun to bbq chicken and all the usual vegetables. What I like about this place though is that they give quite a bit of food in both their regular & mini plates. I’m not a super big eater so if I wind up getting one of their regular sized combo plates, I wind up saving half of it to take home to eat later. Be warned that during the standard lunch rush hour, it can take a while to get your food if you don’t call it in and there can be quite a bit of people. Come here if you want a pretty good bargain on some decent Korean bbq plate lunches though, you won’t be disappointed!

On a dark and rainy day, while under the weather, I was thinking about spots where I could go for Yu Kae Jang(korean spicy soup with beef strips) to clear my sinuses. I really couldn’t think of any, until my memory accessed this one Korean lunch plate place on Pauahi I had never tried(across from Doner Shack). I walked on over while the rain had stopped and went inside. The place has about 8 tables(oops saw @Miki’s review while I am typing this and see that they only have 6 tables) which is actually a pretty big dining room for the Fort Street Mall area. I saw the object of my desire on the menu board. So I ordered it up with the ajuma. She told me «no». No what? They had all the soups on the menu today except for Yu Kae Jang. #$%^&*( Fortunately, they had another soup that I like called daen chang gook. Of course at lunch plate places in Hawaii, it’s called«miso soup». The order was $ 6.95 and that included 4 choices for banchan and 2 scoops of rice. That was a bonus because some of these lunch plate places like Gina’s and Yummy’s either won’t give you banchan or give you less if you order soup. Deal! I ordered regular kimchi and cucumber kimchi for two of the banchan orders. They seemed to be a little unripe, which is not uncommon because sometimes the kimchi is not always in the«ready» cycle(that just means you have to diversify your kimchi in various cycles of preparation — hard to do for a small food business). There was this stringy radish spicy banchan(see pic) that was very good and the chap chae was also delicious. They also had shoyu potatoes, which many fast food Korean places don’t have these days. The daen jang gook itself was solid — piping hot, lots of daen jang(bean paste, like miso), soft tofu and squash. It hit the spot and my sinuses have cleared up as I type this entry. I’m also sweating from their spicy banchans, which is not uncommon for me when I eat Korean food. This will now be my Korean cold-buster while at work. Heck, this order costs as much as a power cold-buster at Jamba Juice. And you don’t get it with banchan at Jamba Juice. Losers.

Great for lunch if you’re in the downtown area. They give huge portions for cheap. They do get busy so if you don’t have a lot of time call in first. They have seating in case you want to sit in there and eat, maybe about 6 tables that can seat 4 people. It’s the typical Korean food place so if you get a regular plate you get rice and your choice of 4 sides. My favorite here is the spicy chicken, it’s actually pretty mild.

My fave Korean fast-food restaurant downtown! It’s somewhere in-between Yummy’s and Sorabol. Maybe more like Gina’s. I actually like 2 Go better than Gina’s. I absolutely love their yook gae jang. Order medium, because spicy is SUPERSPICY! And I like spicy! It’s a generous serving size and you can order it 2 Go. ;) It also comes with a choice of 4 veggies(i.e. kim chee, cucumber kim chee, choi sum, bean sprouts… the usual). It’ll be enough for 2 meals – all that around $ 7.50. Also delish there is their BBQ Chicken. Get a mini plate. The mini comes w/2 veggie choices, 2 large pieces of chicken, and lots of rice. Again, it’ll be enough for 2 meals. I believe it is $ 5.50 for the mini chix plate. I heard that they don’t use MSG in their food here, so extra bonus star for that!

5 stars for the MANDOOPLATE. somewhere around 3 stars for the other food. But some of the best fried mandoo ever! Portions are big, service is slow, but the mandoo is so tasty and super filling. I never thought I’d order just a mandoo plate but it was so good. They give you 4 big portioned sides like tofu, chapjae, kimchee, greens, mac salad and it’s all really good. The BBQ chicken as kind of dry so I just stick with the mandoo plate now! It’s moderate for lunch: somewhere between $ 5 – 9 bucks for a mini to regular sized lunch. But be warned, it takes a little while so it’s not just grab and go.

alright, almost a month later from the cockroach incident and I decided to come back since I wanted korean food and my husband asked me to pick up BBQ chicken. So i think to myself, should i give it another try? I DID… and oh what a bad idea it was. Upon ordering my food, meat jun and kalbi combo and BBQ chicken plate I waited like how i used to, 15 – 20 mins for the food. I choose the 4 sides for each plate lunch and based it off the variety mixture so that my hubby and I can share the veggies. «one combo one bbq chicken to go». OH! that’s me. We get home and I bragged about how large the serving was since the food felt like it was 7lbs. Upon opening up the plates we both looked at eachother and inhaled… smelled like heaven. I took a bite out the meat jun and wanted a cucumber from my hubbies plate. When I grabbed the a piece of it, for some reason my mind told me to flip it over. There nestled a DEADMEDIUMSIZEDCOCKROACH again!!! are you flipping serious? AGAIN? I freaked out and said, «how is this possible!!! how many have i eaten since i started at HPU? I’m sure I’ve had some but have only noticed them now since I found one last time» Of course my hubby’s response was, «you went to the same place? this is the roach place? why?» …no explanation. I was speachless. I sat down, pouted and then opted for Down to Earth.
