Stopped to see this new eatery to decide if I want to bring friends who will be visiting next month. I will absolutely be bringing them for a meal & the gorgeous view! I tried the lamb burger and fries — both were delicious. The lamb burger was perfectly grilled and flavorful with tzatziki sauce and served with slaw on the side, delicious bright fresh flavor and not too sweet as slaw can sometimes be. The fries were yummy & crispy and appeared to be fresh cut. My only recommendation is to install fly traps. The eating area is outside under canvas canopy tents and flies were also attracted to the fabulous food, so I found myself continuously shooing them away from my meal.

The cookhouse awesome! Everything I’ve had is simply delicious. Whatever you order you can’t go wrong. All fresh ingredients and produce grown locally in Hawaii. If you have a sweet tooth be sure to try one of their lilikoi bars. My personal favorite so far is the omelette of the day I had this morning. I have yet to try the loco moco but its next on my list! Love this place.

The best restaurant at the best farthest end of the road! We’ve been on the island for a week, and this was the best meal we’ve had since we arrived. The brisket was tasty, cooked slow the traditional Hawaiian way, not an ounce of fat or gristle. The rainbow slaw was an excellent surprise — not sweet, but a great blend of flavors. We split a big piece of the lilikoi(passionfruit) bar and, once more, delicious. A little sweet, a little tangy, a little nutty. All overlooking the northwest corner of the island. This traditionally-cooked food is grown organically on site. Tasty and healthy. If we didn’t live a continent away, we’d be back a couple times a week.

Absolutely a Seattlite’s island dream come true! All menu selections are either grown on the property or somewhere on the island(hence honey for your pancakes, no maple trees in paradise). We went for breakfast and had the omelette of the day(mushroom, onion, brisket) and the breakfast plate with poi pancake and sausage. Coffee from a nearby farm is incredible! Much as we want to explore the island food-wise, we may very well need a 2nd Waipio Cookhouse before we go home.

Ate here for the first time yesterday! My family lives in Kukuihaele and whenever we come visit we always say we need more restaurants out here so it’s great to see a local spot open up… delicious food-farm to table, great atmosphere and live music on the weekends! Had the mahi mahi sandwich and my fiancé had the lamb burger, both yummy! He wished he had the option of having ketchup and mustard instead of the sauce that came with the burger(he also didn’t ask if there was ketchup & mustard available) but other than that everything was great! Friendly staff and beautiful views while you eat! Suggestion: You have a great setup for events! Would be a great place to have a wedding!!!

Growing up in Honoka’a there were never many restaurants to enjoy, and if I wanted great local food I would have to drive into Waimea, but now I have to look no farther than the surrounding area of my home town. The Waipio Cookhouse is aptly named as it is located on the beautiful drive to Waipio valley, and the view from the restaurant is incredible. With exclusively outside seating, the cookhouse is best enjoyed paired with the beauty of a Hawaiian day, and when you sit down to eat your Kalua Pig Loco Moco or the Cinnamon Poi pancakes for breakfast before hiking the valley, you will truly begin to to feel a genuinely Hawaiian experience. Made with all local ingredients, every bite of food tastes like bliss, and mixed with the view and beautiful dining areas(not to mention friendly staff), this restaurant is not to be missed. The owner was incredibly friendly and loved to chat, and seemed throughly appreciative of my business. When I sat down for breakfast the place was empty, and I can only imagine that the location can make it difficult to operate during non-touristy months, but stopping by is so worth it. It pains me to say this as I love so many of the people and restaurants in Honoka’a town, but if you only get the chance to stop by one restaurant for breakfast or lunch during your stay, bypass Honoka’a itself and stop by Waipio Cookhouse; it’s really not too out of the way, and everything about the experience is bliss. You’ll be glad you visited. TL;DR: Wow. Great food. Great view. Great service. Great everything.
