It can be difficult to find if you are driving too fast on the highway. It is north of Honaunau and south of Kailua close to the old Bong brothers building. If you are going too fast when you see it, keep driving until you find a safe place to turn around. Don’t cause an accident on those narrow roads. We ordered our wedding cake from her. Her lilikoi and guava cakes are one of the best I have tasted. Over the years, the café has gone down hill. It needs some TLC. The facility would receive 2 stars. However the service and cakes get 5 stars. Great value for wedding cakes.

We have been buying pastries for years. They had the best pastries on the island. Alas, the place has gone in the toilet. The cupboards are bare. They got rid of their pastry chef and the only thing on the shelf the last three times I stopped by were un appetizing scones. It is unfortunate that they have run this place into the ground.

The pastries in this spot are out-of-this-world. Lots of Hawaiian locals coming by to buy lots of sweet goodies. The chick behind the counted lived in Astoria… and she wasn’t even asian. I know she’s hella glad to be back in Hawaii. Astoria… pssssssh. Mahalo.

Delicious pastries, quiche and yummy coffee. The banana bread and blueberry scones were our favorites.

Coffee: best I’ve ever had. Kona coffee is YUM Pastries: I took the cinnamon roll and didn’t really like it. Frosting was just too much(or maybe too sweet?), and the dough didn’t seem fresh at all. Baked bread: took fresh sourdough and it was awesome. The challah(I am Jewish though) wasn’t that great I think.

Probably should be called Epicurea ‘N Coffees. We went for coffee and more than half of the coffee menu was unavailable including iced coffee. What were they out of ice? We decided not to get anything and left. What kind of coffee place runs out of coffee?

My boyfriend and I randomly found this place one morning when we were still jet-lagged. There’s a wonderful area out back where you can sit, sheltered from the rain, and look at geckos and saffron finches while sipping coffee. We came back several times because the pastries were just so damn good — in total, we tried a coconut-lilikoi flaky pastry, a sticky bun topped with macadamia nuts, and a lilikoi square(similar to a lemon bar, but far superior). The barista was very helpful and nice, giving us suggestions for cheap airfare should we ever decide to hop over to Maui or Oahu. We mentioned that we’re planning on living on the island part-time in the near future and she gave us more insider tips. All in all, just a really awesome stop on the way into town. When we return in six months, we’re definitely coming back.

The place is now under new ownership. The baked goods are awesome. We had this coconut and chocolate scone was incredible. The sour dough bread is some of the best we have had anywhere… what a find. The selection changes daily and they sell out so get your order in early or come early. The proprietor and workers are very nice. We were staying in the area and we came by multiple times a day everyday.

Stopped here on the way to Volcanoes National Park from Keauhou. We left at like 6 am and it was one of the few places open at that time. We wanted some snackies for the day and I cannot remember anything we got besides the lilikoi chiffon pie! OMG it clouded my brain because it was so good! It was tart and creamy and had what looked like vanilla bean flecks on the top. The crust was graham cracker which I normally don’t like but it was the right choice. So good wen went back for it again on our last day and got the last piece!

Found this neighbourhood gem recently while the bf and I were on the Big Island. Very friendly staff and cool seating– I wish I came back and lounged. Very very tasty treats! A good sized beverage menu.

This bakery was recommended to me by my wedding planner and I am so happy she did! Our cake was INCREDIBLE! Everyone kept asking me at the wedding who the baker was, and when I told them it was Coffees N’ Epicurea, they always said«Of course! They’re the best bakery on the island!» The bakery was so helpful in suggesting flavor pairings and giving tips on what types of frostings do best in Hawaiian heat. The cake turned out simply beautiful and definitely DELICIOUS! I highly recommend Coffees N’ Epicurea!

This is a great stop along the highway to refuel on caffeine and food, or to have reliable wi-fi. Excellent pastries and quiche, by far the best pastries and desserts I have had on the island, and of course some good local coffee. The prices are reasonable and the staff has always been very accommodating. They have a nice indoor and outdoor seating area, and various arts, crafts and souvenirs to for sale as well. Their Italian soda is the only area where they missed the mark, as it was low on syrup and not very well mixed. The iced coffee is great, using coffee ice cubes should be mandatory at all coffee shops.

They have the BEST pastries and cakes(dessert)! The coffee is good too. I love how they make coffee ice cubes, so the iced coffee doesn’t get watery. Very friendly staffs too!

Ambiance: Cute café with outdoor seating near a garden in the back with a gift shop adjacent to it. We admired the colorful non-native wild geckos from Madagascar run around the garden. Food: We stopped by for a quick breakfast before going snorkeling. I liked the carrot bread, the flourless chocolate cake, and coffee.

Great pastries and great coffee. If you like iced coffe you must try there ice dripped coffee that takes 12 hours to drip. They even serve it with a coffee ice cube so it doesn’t get watery when the cubes melt. It’s nice thoughtful touches like that that make Coffees ‘N Epicurea the best coffee shop on the Big Island. If I have to read one more«Best of» claim that the best coffee shop in Kona is Starbucks, some people seriously should be shot.

No hot foods but great pastries and café. Also had allot of great looking dessert pastries, but did not try. Quiche and mushroom pastry was very good. Comfortable patio in back.

LOVEIT… always fresh, always tasty i get birthday cakes here– they add the cutest sugar flowers or shells on the top for only $ 2.50 more. definitely makes the cake look more expensive instead of the regular store bought.

Was sent here by south Kona Fruit Stand for my 50th birthday cake. We got the Haupia Cake and it was wonderful. Wish I could get it in the mainland. Also bought a gift for a friend here.

I didn’t get an opportunity to taste the Haupia Cake and Lilikoi Chiffon cake I ordered, and paid for in advance along with a delivery fee to a nearby location. Why? They never showed up. They never called. When I found out too late that it wasn’t delivered at one of the most important events of my life to date, and called – they said they were just too busy and forgot to let me know. They offered me store credit in response, but needless to say I will never be back.
