I hate coming out to Hollywood because of the traffic and tourists that don’t seem to understand that they need to get the hell out of the street because it’s rush hour and people want to get home from work. That being said, I’m glad I discovered the Grill because now I have an escape. Every time guests come in from out of town, they want to see the Walk of Fame. I keep telling them that it’s only a sidewalk with bum piss on it, but they still want to see it. I really don’t like driving down on my day off so I’ll have to come here afterwards. I met Mike at the front and he was very professional. They have plenty of seating inside, at the bar, in the patio, or on the terrace. Very nice getaway from the Walk of Fame. Trying to be on a diet(still), I ordered the chicken caesar which was huge. It was a mound of lettuce and a bunch of slices of chicken breast. It was really a lot of food and what normal people would do is to eat some there and take the rest home. My dumbass tried to eat the whole thing and i just couldn’t finish it. It’s $ 15 but it really is enough for two people to split and enjoy. The chick was grilled perfectly and the dressing wasn’t too fishy, it was perfect. Can’t wait for my return trip!

Beware if you order lobster bisque! I got food poisoning after eating the bisque for lunch last weekend. The gal at the bar provided excellent service considering she was so overworked. God bless her.

Gather round boys and girls, because do I have a story for you. SWEETMUSTACHEWASTHISPLACEUNBELIEVABLE!!! Had myself the Cowboy Ribeye and like the name suggests, it was huge. As I sat there and daydreamed of easier days out on the ranch with blue skies with lazy clouds passing by. Sometimes in the hustle and bustle of life we forget about the importance of somethings, like a big piece of meat. The bartender, Matt, made sure my glass was full of some of the finest whiskey I ever tasted. I can’t recommend this place more, that is assuming you’re capable of rational thought. My oh my, ab-so-lute-ly wonderful!!!

I had some tourists in town and on their last day they wanted to get pics of the Hollywood sign! I immediately thought«ohhhh the shopping center next to Loews!» I have never been to Hollywood and Highland center and I was so happy to see the have a The Grill on the Alley here! After they got their pics we went to get a table. The host informed us they were very understaffed and so it may be a long lunch, that was fine with us we are patient people! I had the scallop salad — it was great! Simple and refreshing and I love scallops. The table shared a side of lobster Mac and it was good, although there was a lot of mushrooms and none of us found any lobster. Definitely not Mastro’s lol. Overall, very pleasant tourist lunch in a super touristy shopping center!

All around amazing dining experience! My sister and I were visiting Hollywood for the Paul Simon concert and decided to catch an über from the hotel and get a quick bite to eat before the show. Leslie took amazing care of us, very bubbly and attentive but not to the point where it was overwhelming. We both had a spiced strawberry mule(possibly the best mule I’ve ever had) and shared the loaded Mac and Cheese, Calamari, and spinach artichoke dip. Everything was amazing and Leslie made sure to get us out of there in time for the concert!

Absolutely the best at Hollywood and Highland! People here are so kind and I feel like I’m always coming home for dinner. Matt behind the bar is the best and I love being greeted by managers Stephanie and Kimberly. Food is so tasty and the happy hour between 3−7pm is the best! Get the oysters!!!

My family and I dined here a few weeks ago and we had a great experience! Our server(I think her name was Jamie– long dark hair) was excellent. She handled my large and slightly dramatic family with ease. I’ve been here before, and the service was just okay(a little on the casual side for a pricey restaurant) but this time, our server made it feel like a classy experience. Her voice alone mesmerized us. Now, on to the food! We came to EAT and were not disappointed. The portions were large, and the steaks quite good. My only issue is that our steaks were a bit over-seasoned. Too much salt, next time I’ll request less seasoning. The NY is huge and juicy, and I would highly recommend it. The Dory fish was quite tasty too(our server recommended this for someone who didn’t want a fishy fish– yep spot on, it was very good). The Filet Mignon was ENORMOUS and still tender. The cocktails were delicious, try the Berry Mojito. Dangerous. And fresh. The ambiance is upscale but comfortable, kind of a throwback steakhouse feel. Bottom line, while very pricey the quality of the steaks and the outstanding service made it worth it. I’ll be back!

Impeccable service! The peppercorn skewer was amazing. I’m making it a point to bring my mom back and try their steak since the skewers were so tasty. Carissa was also one of the nicest bartenders I’ve ever encountered. Not only that but she’s fast and makes the most delicious drinks.

As we were attending a premier at the Dolby Theatre, the location was convenient and the food is good. The waitress was friendly and prompt. Although — the kitchen was a little slow that night, even though the room was not packed. However, the food was good and the drinks lovely. Even with the extra wait we got out on time and the dining experience was pleasant.

Let’s move this review along due to the courteous and professional conversation I had today with Stephanie, the manager of the Grill. She was not only apologetic for the downside of our experience at the Grill, but wanted to do something to make up for what we felt was basically a service, and not a quality of food issue. That was not the point of my review. I just think it’s important for a service-based business to know when someone is not happy. They can’t fix what they don’t know is broken. Rest assured that if we are back in the Los Angeles area, looking for a nice dining establishment, we will give the Grill another try.

I was going to an event at Hollywood and Highland, so I decided to try The Grill for their Happy Hour menu. I got the Crispy Potato stack, and the Filet Mignon Sidekicks. Both were overcooked and dry. The meat was tough and hard to chew. And there was a lot of fat on the cuts that they served too. Maybe they use the pieces they cut off the steaks they serve, for the Sidekicks. So the food was a disappointment. They also covered everything in bacon bits, which is good if you like bacon. Maybe the food is better if you order a regular dinner. But I was disappointed with the Happy Hour food.

Perfect patio seating when you want to be outside on a sunny day. Their outdoor seating also has shade so you can enjoy your meal without the sun in your eyes. Perfect location for people watching too. My server was very nice and anticipated our needs promptly. I had a craving for a grill cheese sandwich and fries which wasn’t on the menu. My server let me know that an adult version could be created without an issue. The grilled cheese was perfect(cheddar cheese) and the fries were freshly made. Ooooh, the monkey bread they bring out while you’re waiting for your food is sooooo yummy. It’s served warm with the right amount of cinnamon and goey goodness. I’m craving more but I’ll have to wait until I’m back in LA. I definitely recommend the strawberry lemonade. The plump strawberry as a garnish on the glass was a nice touch too.

Never been here before but always wanted to go. Very picky about my chicken, especially fried chicken. But yes, this place definitely has it going on and now I know why. The batter is light and in one word yummy! Only thing I don’t like and it has nothing to do with the food is the horrible parking situation. No parking near from 4 to 7 but you can park across the street in valet parking — that’s really expensive. Ended up parking three blocks away. Not much fun in the pouring rain, sure it’s better when the weathers better. I’ll definitely come back again sometime for the chicken. It’s quite a ways out of my way to come, but on a day when I go to Kaiser — like today, it would be perfect for a great stop & pick up for dinner.

I have been here several times and always look forward to being back in the area to try something different on the menu. Everything that I have tried for breakfast, lunch and dinner has been amazing. With the different type of seating you can have the atmosphere you want too. From a lower light romantic dinner to sitting on the patio outside, there are also seats at the bar if you’re just grabbing something quick. 5 stars highly recommended!

The Grill on Hollywood has the utmost benefit of being in a main thoroughfare of the Hollywood and Highland shopping center, but somehow at lunch time, there were several empty tables. My friend and I dined here after checking out of our hotel and needing some food before travel back home began. The Grill boasts about their seafood, so I ordered their Mahi sandwich. My friend ordered a chicken caesar salad, which she ended up loving. There was plentiful chicken and the dressing was delicious. I stole a bite and ended up wishing I got that instead. My fish was so-so flavor wise, and was placed on the cheapest grocery store bun you could find. It certainly was not worth the Hollywood tourist price I paid for it. One thing that bugged me the entirety of the meal was our waiters extremely dirty uniform too. For trying to be a higher class restaurant among chain eateries, they really dropped the ball.

Had a reservation for 9:30PM on New Year’s Day. Recommendation by the concierge at the hotel I was staying at next door. According to him they were one of the best restaurants in North Hollywood. That night I don’t think they were. :/ Unfortunately our waitress wasn’t very experienced, but she was nice and was trying to be helpful. By 10PM we were one of the few tables left there, but despite that service wasn’t great. Ordered their kale, walnut, blue cheese salad from their specials menu that was missing walnuts. Waited on that for a bit. Their crab cake and artichoke dip appetizers were very tasty and rich. I guess the only down was service, I fell rushed to leave the restaurant and that’s always an unpleasant experience when you intend to have a nice family dinner.

Dammit… this place should have been much better. It boasts a wonderful-SOUNDING menu, and so as to not waste too much of your time reading this, the food had almost NO flavor. Those of you who know me know that I have real issues with flavor, and there better had be some serious flavor. Steakhouse, grille, chops, your typical American food faire… with prices to boot, it just should have been much better. Most of us in there were pre-theatre, Dolby Theatre for an evening with Josh Groban fans, that is. We were all excited and anticipating seeing the great Josh Groban. We wanted the ease of parking underground, getting a «nice» pre-show dinner at The Grill on Hollywood, and then walk upstairs to our seats at the Dolby. Our«nice» dinner was just«eh,» but the price was far more than«eh.» Try $ 130 for 2. I don’t balk at $ 130 usually, but when lamb chops have NO flavor, when the calamari is heavy and greasy, when the sautéed mushrooms are dripping with a way-too-strong lemon flavor(THAT was the flavor we tasted instead of, let’s say, BUTTER), then I will be annoyed, and there you have our meal. The best part was my glass of wine, and they couldn’t ruin it because it was made elsewhere… just poured by them… but they managed to charge me $ 21 for the glass. I don’t mind at your higher end restaurants, but I darn sure expect the food to follow suit and be as good as the prices they are charging. This place fell way short, and by the way, it’s partially my fault, because I knew this place had that reputation because of the reviews I had read. I went here anyway for the sheer ease of convenience. I also wanted the reviews to be wrong, but so many echoed the same or similar complaints. Yes, I knew better. It’s just such a problem in and around Hollywood to find good restaurants, especially when one is trying to deal with traffic and get to a show with a definite start time. It’s a huge problem. Yet, we are offered the likes of The Grill on Hollywood, and we want to like it, but it’s difficult. The ambience is lovely… just like any other chop house/grille… but the food? Not so much. Sorry I can’t be more complimentary.

Prime steak and seafood? I’m in! Picking this restaurant over the lamer chains in the Hollywood and Highland Center was a no brainer. Parking is such a drag and once you are near the destination, the adjacent Dolby Theater, why deal with the crowds outside? That’s exactly what we did. Sat immediately I enjoyed the dark interior and always observe the style of every prime steakhouse I enter having worked at an exceptional one years ago before grad school. The servers wear simple«lab coats» in white with the logo. Our server was Hanna who explained the specials to augment the menu. One glance at the steaks and I had my mind made up immediately. Cowboy monster of course! 20-ounces of 28-day aged prime beef had me salivating like Homer Simpson. Not really, but that’s how I imagined it. I requested medium rare with broccoli on the side, and the Loaded Mac and Cheese sounded like a must-try. Dad ordered the 12-ounce New York strip and away we went. My only disappointment was that the bar was out of Crème de Violet so they couldn’t make me an Aviation. Bummer. I settled for the house Cable Car but found it a tad too Cointreau heavy. Taste: both steaks were perfectly cooked and my rib eye was incredible. Especially as I sawed my way closer to the bone. The broccoli too was delicious-I rather enjoyed the lemon flavor and light sprinkling of parmesean. As for the Mac and Cheese? Wow! With bacon and bread crumbs(very light on the crumbs which I appreciated) I detected gruyère amongst other cheesy flavors. And the best part of all? They used shells! My favorite pasta shape. My garden salad was decent, not bad though. Maybe a tad heavy on dressing. Dad said his spinach salad was saturated too. Next time I’ll do some wine. A neighboring table sampled three Pinot Noirs which looked fun. Another table of apparent regulars also added to the atmosphere. In fact everyone watched everyone in there. Especially when the meals got delivered. The salmon and Halibut were huge! A happy ending: Dessert for me was spectacular! A nice big wedge of key lime pie with house whipped cream and raspberry coulis sprinkled with lime zest. At all times Hanna was attentive and the matre’d and sommelier also inquired how our experience and meals were. Expensive but worth the money for special occasions. One star deducted for the salads and missing bar ingredient.

Nice place. Classy. You can sit inside for the classic Grill On The Alley feel or sit outside and enjoy the views of the Hollywood & Highland center. Service is great. This place is known for steaks but I rarely get them. I usually get a burger or a Cobb Salad. Mmmmmm. Last night I had the burger and added blue cheese. It was perfect. I think they have one of the best burgers in L.A.(but it is $ 23) I had onion rings and 2 glasses of Louis Latour Bourgogne.

I really like the Grill on the Alley in BH and get takeout there frequently(I don’t cook much) so when I have to choose from the options in the Hollywood & Highland complex for a bite when in the area(Cabo wabo, trastevere, CPK, etc) The Grill wins Their food is straightforward steakhouse fare. Shrimp cocktail is a big glass of chilled enormous sweet jumbo shrimp(one of my favorite things to order here) and at $ 18 — for the size — you’d pay as much buying cooked shrimp at the counter at whole foods. I’ve never had a bad steak at a ‘Grill’ location — always as expected and cooked to the requested doneness. I happen to love their side dishes — an order of fries is large enough for 2 or more — and although another reviewer likened their mac n cheese to velveeta and called it ‘gross’ — I find their Mac delicious. I also LOVE their chicken pot pie! It’s ENORMOUS and especially when the weather is cold outside it really hits the spot. You’re warned. It’s bigger than your head. It’s more like an entire pie size than a ‘pot pie’ size. If you’re being healthier — salads and veggies have always been fresh and tasty as well. Table service can be inconsistent, especially if you sit out in the portion of the patio that is detached and overlooks the middle of H&H. If you’re in a rush(headed to a show, etc) sit at the bar. They get you in and out quickly there and tend to everything very well.
