Went to this place last night, Saturday night. The weather was perfect to sit on the water and chat with some great company. We got there around 630 and it was right before the rush. They had a few belly danceres inside dancing in the tables. Everyone was having a great time the food was tasty as well, we had hummus, tazaki, zucchini, horitiki salad, egplant, and chicken soulvaki. The eggplant was the best and the Chicken soulvaki only came with one very small chicken skewer. But overall we had a great time and enjoyed ourselves, I will def be back!

Awesome place! The environment is one of a kind. Loud and happy! The dancers kept the mood really cool and to top it off the food was absolutely delicious! You can even make your own hummus! Our waitress Sophia was the best! We will definitely be back… Opa!

This place seems pretty authentically Greek. The mash your own hummus is tons of fun and tasty. There are belly dancers on busy nights that might invite you to join in. The waterfront dining on the inter-coastal makes this a good spot for a date or a family outing searching for manatees.

Went here after the football game. Ate outside and it was delicious! We had the seafood platter for 2. The pasta was so good and everything was hot and fresh. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. It was family friendly and had an amazing waterfront view.

So much fun! Great food. The calamari and lobster is delicious. Great appetizers of hummus and taramasalata. Once you’re done eating the table becomes your dance floor. Fun staff, fun atmosphere, fun time all around

What an awesome dining experience. Came on a Tuesday night with three other ladies. At the time(maybe 7 pm) it wasn’t crowded but it did fill up not too long after that. We started with hummus and bread and a huge greek salad that we all split. The waiter recommended the whit greek wine and that was a huge hit at our table. For dinner we split the meat platter and the seafood platter. Both amazing however I loved the muscles in the seafood platter. We ended with a Cappuccino. The outside dining gives a great view of the intercostal. We watched boats go by as well as fishing jumping out of the water. I would go back again for sure. Oh, there was a dancer inside but the inside seating area was’t very busy when we were there.

Going to two different Greek eateries in three days will give you a clear idea of what is good and what is just«ok». Taverna Opa surely falls into the category of what is «great!» A spot right on A1A in Hollywood, after a modest valet service fee, we waited a little while for the«dockside» outdoor seating, which we heard was the way to go. We were then promptly greeted by a very nice server who of course brought over the table side hummus which lighted up my appetite! The natural blend of simple chickpeas, olive oil and garlic was simple and smooth, and which some flavorful break sticks that were fresh and delicious, we were ready to order. My fiancé and her cousin had the«Greek Lasagna» which included macaroni and cheese and meat with a nice semi-charred top but surely not burnt. They each loved it and would recommend it to anyone who does like read meat. I had the stuffed peppers, which, while not a vegetarian, do enjoy the selections like these from time to time. Loaded with rice, veggies, olive oil and a little grated cheese on top(which I would have rather not had), this dish was great. 2 bell red peppers and a little olive oil sauce made it might but very flavorful. We did not indulge in drinks or a desert as we all had our bellies full, but the experience was fun, the belly dancer who stopped by was a cool added touch, and the overall evening was a hit! I recommend Taverna Opa and can’t wait to go back! Opa!

I’ve been to OPA about 15 times because I have a place near by. The food is fantastic and the waitresses are usually good. I’ve found that for the most part in my experiences the female servers are good to very good but the males are not so good. Also get there before 8pm and service is usually better. Gets chaotic after 8pm on weekends with loud music and dancing. Great place to take out of your friends from the north. Food: the chicken with artichokes, any shrimp dish, kabobs are always sublime and cooked perfectly. The tzatziki and hummus are excellent as is the Greek salad. Get extra pita immediately. Goes great with the hummus. Drinks are very expensive relative to the food. Beers are $ 6.25 and wine is $ 30 – 75 a bottle. Mediocre wine list. Bring your own. Not sure on corkage fee. Overall get there early, hope for a female server and enjoy the beautiful intercostal view.

I had a pretty disappointing experience yesterday. I’ve been here several times for drinks, but never for food. The views and atmosphere are beautiful if you sit outside, with Hollywood’s intercoastal, marina, and boats cruising by. The service was a joke, the lumbering server basically dropped two menus in front of us along with what we later learned was«do it yourself» humus. He later explained what it was and offered to fix it for us but never did. The food was meh We ordered a bottle of wine(when asked for some recommendations the server didn’t have a clue. He asked me «why don’t you just get what you like». Hunh? The salmon roe dip resembled a small dish of oatmeal, with no hint of a seafood background. No garnish, no visible fish eggs. Fair taste — didn’t come with pita bread — we had to order and pay for that separately. The fried cheese app was also a big disappointment. No flavor. When asked about the gyro platter our server said it was a «kids meal». After the table behind us ordered two servings, we asked about the gyro — a Greek staple — again. The server really turned us off when he revealed the lamb/beef(he couldn’t be sure) actually arrived to the restaurant frozen. Yum. Did we have to prepare it ourselves also? Pros: great location, beautiful views. Cons: bad service, bad food, $ 4 to park the car right behind our table with valet. Late night drinks maybe. I’ll go to an authentic restaurant next time I want Greek.

I happened to be in Hollywood, Florida for a meeting when one of my colleagues suggested we try the Taverna Opa. This was a treat — the food was delicious and the entertainment was a hoot! We both enjoyed ourselves. My colleague ordered the salmon and I ordered some small plates. All were delicious except the smelts. They were a bit soggy and had no taste. I think the restaurant should rethink this recipe. Other than that, we found the staff delightful and the atmosphere great(we ate outside overlooking the water). I agree with one of the other reviewers that the seating was a bit tight — however, it was Saturday night and the moon was out and the company was interesting and over-looking the tight seating was no problem!

Location was our attraction: right on the water, with tables outside. The food? Average. The service? Sub-par, not attentive.(For what it’s worth, several of the waiters are extremely good looking! But good looks don’t refill our water glasses.) I like the idea of mashed chickpeas — they weren’t hummus — placed gratis on every table. But they needed a little olive oil. Or seasoning. Something! The accompanying rolls looked nice, but were nothing special. Sadly, NOTHING on our table was special: spanakopita, tzatziki, the gyro platter … even the baklava. All passable, but nothing so delicious to entice me back. Sorry.

Fresh and Incredible Greek food is what’s in store for you here! They have a huge menu loaded with a lot of great Greek specialties from the land and sea. They fly in Branzino every few days to always have it fresh and it’s on display as you walk in, in an ice display case. We ordered many items from the mezze menu to try and all were delicious! They even give you complimentary table-side prepared hummus when you sit down. It’s made fresh with mortar and pestle. Service was excellent. Servers were all very attentive and the manager came by frequently to make sure all was well. They have huge groups to come in for dinner on a regular basis and while we were there, 3 big groups were sat; the smallest being 10 and the largest 18. So, they can accommodate your large group quite nicely!

We went here for dinner on Saturday night, it’s valet parking only. We were seated immediately, we opted for seating inside where the belly dancer and the life of the Greek party was, with a waterside view. I must say that we were greeted by smiles all around. We were started off with the Complimentary table side hummus and fresh bread along with the 2-for-1 Greek wine Unilocal deal.(Thank you Unilocal!) I would recommend the white wine over the red. We decided to go with small plates mostly, I was skeptical ordering wings in a Greek restaurant but wasn’t disappointed, they were quite satisfying actually. I love me a good flavored meat ball ;) and the Keftedekias delivered. The grilled lamb ribs were good but a lil lemony for my taste. Ordered a few more sides like the rice pilaf and Greek salad which we enjoyed too. Our server Valentin was the best, he checked on us all the time and pulled us into the party along with the ever smiling and energetic belly dancer not to mention the dj and drummer playing re-mixed traditional Greek songs and popular songs. He even offered us the Greek drink ‘ouza’ and for those who don’t know what that tastes like, it’s similar to absinthe or a good sambuca, better have a designated driver after one, goes in smooth and well after that you will have a big fat Greek party!!! Oh wait, for dessert Valentin even offered us Greek yoghurt with walnuts and caramel and the crowd fav chocolate cheesecake w/berry sauce, complimentary ! I must say even though we were stuffed, it wasn’t too heavy yet rich and decadent! Overall great ambience, service and good food. Bring your family and friends here if you want to show them a good time! Opaaa!!!

The servers were very friendly and attentive. The view is beautiful outside by the water. They have lively music and belly dancers inside. We ordered a variety of appetizers and they were all amazing. I loved the tangy grilled chicken and roasted potatoes. My husband and son shared the mixed meat player of lamb beef and chicken and they loved their choice. The portions are huge.

Kind of surprised I haven’t reviewed Opa before… considering I’ve been here quite a few times over the years. I remember almost 10 years ago when all of my Florida friends talked about«Opa» as though it was Disney Land, I guess they all grew up celebrating their big birthdays and family moments by coming to Opa and I was super excited when I finally got my turn to come. I’ve definitely had my fun times here, but lately it’s been sort of lackluster and doesn’t have quite the same appeal to me. My first issue is the parking. Yes it’s at Hollywood beach and parking is a pain, but there’s no reason to charge $ 4 to valet at all hours of the day. I remember once I came for HH before the valet had arrived and I self parked easily. When it was time to leave the valet still insisted he get his $ 4 although he hadn’t parked my car nor had my keys. After some back and forth I got away without paying, but seriously it was a bit of a mess. The good thing about the Opa menu is their family style options. For $ 25-$ 45 pp you can choose to get 4+ courses and share among the table. This particular visit I wasn’t that hungry so I choose to just get an appetizer and a salad. Service was a bit of a cluster, with our orders being taken at the same time as our wine order(I guess she realized we really had been sitting there for a while), and then about 5 minutes later another server approached us with menus, so definitely some confusion there. Our original wine option wasn’t available, so I selected a Greek Syrah which was quite good. Our«make your own hummus» which comes with every table came out almost as soon as our octopus app, so the table got a little crowded, followed quickly by our entrees, so really crowded then. The hummus was amazing as always, but the bread wasn’t that easy to chew. The octopus sadly wasn’t anything special, made worse by the fact that I really only came to eat octopus. Happily I can report that my kale greek salad was pretty outstanding and it was nice to see a new twist on greek salads, but again, kind of hard to mess up, so no award winners here. My friend opted for the gyro platter which seemed decent, although the fries on the side were a bit unnecessary and tasted like old frying oil. Here’s the thing, I don’t think Opa will be winning any awards any time soon, and I get that it’s kind of hard to reinvent the wheel per se, but it would be nice to see them revamp the place and change it up a bit.
