I called in and Sam set up a whiskey tasting with a whiskey master on a Tuesday night for 2. We had some awesome food, got some knowledgeable information regarding whiskey, and had a nice time enjoying the atmosphere… I highly recommend it!

Next door lounge exceeded my expectations! I am extremely happy with their service from start to finish! I had a birthday bash here on sat for my husband and I and my guest list was up to 60 people and they had no problem rsvping a booth for my party, we ended up taking up the whole room lol.(no deposits, no cover charge, no bottle service) Nikita was our waitress and she was so sweet and knew how to maintain a large group without giving anyone an attitude. DJ Ronix was the shit!!! Food was delish, had the goat cheese/spinach pizza and chicken fingers and the bartenders were generous with the amount of liquor in our drinks. Overall experience was amazing, I will diff go back! Thank you next door lounge!

I have never been so satisfied with a restaurants/lounge customer service. Must I add SAM is the person to talk to. He is honest, welcoming and did his very best to accommodate me. I am excited to announce I will be celebrating my 30th birthday here and I am looking forward to it already. I have been here once before for another birthday and loved the vibe. Very sophisticated and classy. The appetizers were amazing and fresh. I wanted to leave a review more so for how this entire event was arranged– Sam, thank you for taking care of me and walking me through everything. You were professional and answered all of my questions. Can’t wait to party!!!

Went on Saturday for a friends birthday. DJ Ronix was dope, I felt like I was at a nightclub but it was a lounge with good music and better lighting. Drinks were strong I was lit after 2 Scotts Pears’ I didn’t eat so I can’t judge the food but I smelled fries which is nice while drunk. Id go again.

Did the Thursday 8pm cabaret show with my girl friend. Parking: street parking was limited decided to valet. Fellas running the cars were super nice on pick up and return. Only 7 bucks and noticed there wasn’t any excessive miles on my car. Drivers pull up and off without evasive manuevers. Location: The place has a speak easy décor but didn’t feel like there was a password needed. Nice set up, cool little things around the area that give it the prohibition era feel. Dress code is clean casual jeans, no shorts, no t shirt, no hats. Food: simple 3 meals that were pretty good considering the total price with pick of three entrées, intermission snack, pick between two desserts and a coupon for a drink after the show. Show: This is what brought everything together. Great show mix of modern and classic burlesque entertainers that are extremely talented and enthusiastic, cheesy/raunchy comedy with some magic by TheWackoShow, live jazzy music lead by legit vocals. Bar: good variety of wines, beers, and liquor. Cool theme drinks too. Think of this as an adult medieval times without the smell of horse pie. Give it a shot new show starting the 16th of June.

Awesome place to have a party! We had a law school graduation party and the hostess was on point. She knew everyone’s drinks, had great recommendations and was very fast on service. The atmosphere is very classy, young crowd, great DJ. The seats are super comfy and specialty drinks are good. I would recommend getting the old fashion with templeton rye. Come here to have a good time, chill, have fun. It’s not a club or anything but it’s a nice vibe to hang with friends.

Short version: Terrible, customer service by management and some of the staff. I went in for dinner and the server disappeared for 30 minutes before taking our order, and came back to tell me the kitchen had just closed and they literally had no food. She had a note saying I was VIP and got a free drink but didn’t do anything, instead she asked me for a serving job at my restaurant. Then she sent some girl home with my credit card and her charges, and gave me hers(which I noticed right away). I was nice about it but really upset. I called the next day and the manager was unprofessional and ridiculous. Tried to get me to buy a whole other meal if he comp’d one drink, which was apparently supposed to happen anyway. My friends and I spent $ 100s there. I declined to return.

Just visited this past Thursday for my birthday; took advantage of the Groupon deal for the cabaret show. Pros: show was great! Dancers were very good, host was funny and super entertaining had us laughing and cheering all night. Drinks were DELICIOUS! I had a basil cucumber one with gin and OMG, cant stop thinking about it. Waitress was very nice and attentive. Con: need a stage or better layout; hard to see from different parts of the room. We made it work and girls walked around but a stage would be ideal. Food was mediocre; nothing special. I would suggest they season the veggies more and maybe a different recipe for the chicken and beef. Sad they do not have their regular menu available during the show. Maybe it was a grouponer night lol. Overall great experience; show made up for all my negative points, i would definitely recommend this place just would warn my guest not to set the bar too high for the food and try to get good seating.

I came here for a Murder Mystery Dinner through Groupon for $ 46 per person. The ticket comes with a live entertainment on solving a murder mystery and a 3 course meal: side salad, entrée(fried chicken breast, 2 beek skwers, and vegetarian pasta), and dessert(chocolate cake or cheese cake). Doors open at 5 pm. They will take your food order once you arrive. The show started sharp at 6:30 pm and ended at 8:10 pm. After 8:30 pm, they changed the room into a 1920 speakeasy lounge. If you plan to stay after the dinner, I would highly recommend make a reservation for a table so you are guaranteed a spot to sit. Murder mystery had about 6 performers to entertain the crowd. There were about 12 – 13 different groups by tables in which we were required to participate in group activities to find the murderer, tell a creative story to market our auction items, and find clues to solve our assigned mystery. I tried to pay attention but it was very hard when ppl all around were talking and it was hard to hear the performers. Some ppl were not even paying attention and were just talking among themselves. The performance can be boring or it can be entertaining. It all depends on your participation and involvement. I overall thought it was very unorganized and the storyline was not interesting. I wished they explained in more details on what we need to do as a group. We ended up with a lot of confused looks at our table. The confusion just caused us to lose interest and we just ended up just talking among ourselves. At least we were still able to enjoy each other’s company over drinks. Food was disappointing and tasted more like cafeteria food that they massed produced. For a $ 46 dinner plus entertainment, I expected the food to be better than eating cafeteria food. Not only was the food bad, the food presentation was sloppy and the food portions were small. The male in our group were hungry at the end of the show and ended up leaving to go grab more food after dinner.

We came for the Murder Mystery Dinner via Groupon and upon our entrance, for our 3 course meal(appetizer, main course, dessert), we were asked what we would like to have for our main course. There is beef skewers, chicken breast meat and vegetarian pasta. Performance: ~ Very disorganized and boring performance. Am totally clueless what’s going on for the entire show. My entire table of 11 of us participated for the 1st and 2nd part in solving the mystery murder but we lost interest after that it’s just way too disorganized with how everything works. ~ The show is too heavily dependent on the crowd to be funny on their own. It requires someone from each table to go on stage to explain to everyone what’s their auction item on the table and come out with creative ways to explain what it is, how much it is worth and etc. Not my first dinner with performance, I have much better. ~ 2⁄5 Food: ~ Meh dinner with sloppy presentation. Food and place doesn’t match. Feels like I’m eating medieval’ dinner. ~ 2⁄5 Ambience ~ Love the 1920s ambience of the place. Makes you feel like you’re back in time. The venue is converted to speakeasy bar after the performance. ~ 3⁄5

Was nice to say I’ve been here but can’t say anything special would make me Go out of my way to go back. The décor was great the murder mystery show could have been better. It was cheesy, everyone was super nice and some in our group loved it some but so much. The terrible accents especially the high tone the maid used, it reminded me of the nanny Fran dresher. You could only take so much. If they made the murder occur onsite and lost the accents it would have been better, people are buzzed, we couldn’t all focus past the terrible accents. Sorry. Nice crowd tho

We came here for the murder mystery that we bought off Groupon. We had a lot of fun! The actors were great and played their roles to be believable. The food was alright too, but to be honest, I was hardly paying attention because I was so focused on solving the murder mystery. It paid off though because our team solved it, and solved it the best! My only critique is that it gets a little chaotic to try to talk to the characters when we’re given time to since there’s approximately 12 tables trying to do the same.

The entire establishment had such a fun feel to it. Valet($ 7) or metered street parking available. My friends and I celebrated my birthday during the«Billionaire auction murder mystery» dinner show. It was about $ 48 per person(includes salad, choice of chicken or beef or pesto pasta & chocolate cake or cheesecake). The actors were very witty in their jokes as they had to interact with the audience & have funny comebacks on the spot. As you eat, you have to pay attention to the actors since they give you clues throughout the show. Then there is an interactive part where you have to get out of your seat & speak to the actors to find clues. Overall, it’s an amazing place to spend a night out & play dress up. Delicious drinks, great food, funny actors, well decorated interior Thank you to Ferris for helping me plan this very memorable birthday! We had 32 people in my party & he was very patient and quickly responded to all my emails. It was such an enjoyable experience! We especially loved getting dolled up in our 1920’s billionaire outfits. I even appreciate your staff awarding me with«Best Dressed»

We were using a Gilt City voucher for dinner for two with a Whiskey Tasting on a normal evening of dinner at this restaurant. If I were to rate this place on vibe, décor and experience alone, it would get a five. You enter the restaurant with the door person after giving the«password» and are ushered in and to your table or couch in the lounge. The restaurant has that speak easy/1920’s or 1930’s feel. It is really awesome. Great attention was placed in the detail of this establishment. We also had a friendly server for the evening. The overall reason for the rating of three is primarily for the food. We found the food to be lacking in so many areas. This place has so much potential. However, I don’t know? Maybe people just come here for conversation and drinks. If that is the case, so be it. I did have a Daiquiri in addition to what was included, and I found it to be fantastic. We had the Spaghetti Pretzel Bread and Marinated Veggies to start. The«Spaghetti Pretzel Bread wasn’t «Bread». It was little tiny pretzel sticks… I don’t know… maybe it was Pretzel Bread, but if you see it, you will understand what I am talking about. The marinated veggies were just cold veggies in some kind of lime/vinegar juice. The entrees were not too bad. We had an order of Sliders and also a Pizza to share. They were actually quite good and we enjoyed them. Finally, we ended on dessert. We had the chocolate cake and the cheesecake. These two items were very clearly frozen delivered desserts, which were then unthawed and dressed up slightly. They lacked flavor and freshness. So, I would come here again for drinks with friends. However, I likely would not come for dinner unless the menu was revamped.

This is a long over due review after having attended next door lounge for just drinks, the murder mystery dinner, & most recently, whiskey tasting. The service here is outstanding. I’ve never had an issue with my food or drinks. When I was too sick to go to our original whiskey tasting reservation, I had to reschedule last minute. They were beyond gracious & understanding, wished me well & quickly rescheduled. The whiskeys were great & I loved being able to taste at my own pace. The murder mystery dinner, which I sort of expected to be cheesy, was actually so engaging & fun! Depending on what you’re into, you can get super involved or sit back & watch. Good food, great actors & even better drinks.

Pretty much checked out this place because they had a Gilt City deal(2 whiskey tastings, 2 entrees, 2 desserts plus their pretzel sticks and marinated veggie sticks for $ 60)… Not sure if the deal was worth it seeing that the food was mediocre. We ordered a bunch of stuff… even added on some dishes to our vouchers… We got the beef sliders, bacon & sausage pizza, fried chicken steak sliders, 2 burgers, calamari, deviled eggs. all very average and unimpressive)… The drinks were good. The guys got their whiskey flight and was happy with it. They were generous with their pours and I tasted the difference in their whiskeys… Can’t really speak for their quality since I’m not a fan of whiskey but the guys enjoyed it. My friend and I opted for their cocktails. I got their French 75 and a different cocktail I cant recall the name of… but both were good. My friend got their Moscow Mule and liked it. The drinks were good. Overall the ambiance is nice. The place was alot larger in space which was pretty cool. They have tables in the middle and more loungey chairs off the side. And a huge bar. Loved the dimmed lights and cozy feel. They have a live band play sometimes and that was nice. The service was good! No complaints! Overall it was a great night… Just wish the food was better… I can see myself coming back with friends for some drinks! :)

This evening was first time attending this type of event. I had a great time; however, the food was no bueno. I had the buttermilk chicken with mash potatoes and grilled vegetables. My bestie’s who I went with, had the beef, mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. My chicken was good. It was very tasty and actually warm. My veggies and mashed potatoes were COLD!!! My bestie’s beef was tasty and warm; however, her veggies and mashed potatoes were also COLD!!! The dessert was chocolate cake which was very good. It had just the right about of sweetness… Because the food was cold, I would not recommend this place to anyone… The show was excellent but the owner should have his head chef or kitchen staff need in remedial training on how to plate food. Instead of plating the food all at once for all of the guests, they should plate one table at a time or put the food in warmers is being served at the table. Also, if you are using boxed mashed potatoes, try using milk instead of water.

Fun, chill place to lounge and have a few drinks. It’s a «speakeasy» place so you’ll feel VIP while you’re getting in. The music is chill and hipstery good.(Check out the video). Drinks are tasting as for the price you pay.

Husband and I received a Groupon for this place as an anniversary present from a friend. We had a lot of fun. The whole show is very interactive. You have to be paying attention and then jump up and perform different tasks. At one point everyone will get up and walk around to look for clues and talk to the actors. We got to know our table mates who were also our team mates! The killer was slightly a bit more predictable than I had thought it would be, but that just means they did their job well and we weren’t completely lost! Shoutout the actress named Jillian because, well, she has my name and she was a lot of fun! Lol Dinner was pretty good. Along the lines of wedding good. Good, not great but also not bad. Then your choice of cheesecake and chocolate cake. My husband doesn’t like sweets so I used some of his chocolate icing with my cheesecake and that was pretty good. I want to come back with a group of friends so we can all work together to solve the mystery! All in all. It was a fun date night. We had some drinks which tasted good and werr average price but don’t really do too much. Still. They have cool names and taste good! Hope to come back here soon!

The Next Door Lounge is the ideal setting for any 1920’s/flapper theme birthday or event(I have also heard that they host Mystery Dinner’s — yet to try). There is a silent film playing in one corner of the lounge, and the waitresses are in flapper costume. Speaking of, the service is exceptional(from the bodyguards to the waitresses). The food is quite good as well, especially for a lounge. I had gone last weekend for a birthday — party of about 20. We had split the sweet potato fries, regular fries, wings, pizza, and hummus platter. Highly recommend the hummus platter and sweet potato fries. However, I would not recommend the fruit punch bowl, as it is mainly watered down and you cannot taste the alcohol. I would recommend heading over to the bar to get cocktails/shots of your choice. Nevertheless, I would recommend this place to large parties as both the service and atmosphere are outstanding.

I’ve always dreamed of going to a murder mystery dinner ever since I knew those things existed. I’ve done other dinner and shows before, like the ones in Buena Park(Medieval Times and Pirates Adventures), and have also had dinner with my comedy shows. But this was completely different and wasn’t what I expected at all. To my surprise, it involved a lot more audience participation. I was out of my seat longer than actually being in it. The actors and actresses were all great and definitely stayed in their roles the entire time… Even before the show actually began! The mystery, although not super challenging, was not too predictable. My favorite part was getting to know some of the other members from my table and«working» together to solve the mystery. Food was average, but did like how it came with a full three course meal. Drinks were dangerous – and by dangerous, I meant that they tasted too delicious for you to recognize that they’re actually strong. I highly, highly recommend checking out the Murder Mystery dinner for a different experience. Stray away from the regular routine of just dinner and do something different. …although I don’t know how I’d feel if this was my first date. Someone might get too carried away with solving the mystery than getting to know their date. If you’ve been married for 35 years(like the couple that I met), then definitely check this place out. Or if you wanted to take your mom out for something fun and different, this isn’t a bad idea either. The mother and daughter that I met at my table seemed to enjoy the experience. I will have to come back to this place for their happy hour though. Their drinks are too good to not try again!

Had the opportunity to come here for a Casino Themed Night, and I am glad I came. The venue is a classy establishment, and they hold different events there. I heard they also do Mystery Dinner there, which I have yet to try. I was also told that they make their own whiskey in the back, in their own barrels. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to try them yesterday, but I will be back. Drinks are a bit pricier here. $ 14 for a Madatten, which uses Maker’s Mark and Orange Bitters. Their Old Fashioned was good too. They poured a lot of alcohol in it, which I liked. Valet Parking at the front for $ 6, or you can opt for street parking if you can find any.

We came here to use our Gilt City voucher and will definitely be back. From the aptly dressed doorman and waitresses, to the décor, to the ambiance to the jazz band, to the drinks, to whatever those spaghetti pretzel things are, everything is perfect. Bring a date or bring a group of friends. Fun will be had, even if it damages your liver a bit.

You could probably walk right by this place and never even know it was there! The only clue is a sign with a key on it hanging on the outside of the building. Stopped by here a few months ago for their murder mystery dinner. If you’re looking for something different and fun this is the place to be. First you are greeted at the door by a man in a top hat who you must give the secret password to.(given to you after making a reservation) Then you are seated at a table, depending on the group of your party, we were only two people so they sat us at a table of six. Sitting with random people definitely added to the fun factor for the night, we were all able to work together to solve the murder! At the table you find random newspaper articles and the rules of the game. Throughout the night different characters stop by your table and give you hints about who the killer is. You also get up from your table every once in a while to look for hidden clues! Honestly one of the most fun nights I’ve ever had! The show currently is about the black dahlia but I heard that they will be changing the show around halloween. Cant wait to come back!

It’s the Lounge version of the girl next door! Next Door is one of my favorite bars in LA, and I often suggest it to friends visiting the area. I always have a great experience here– mainly because the staff is so down-to-earth and the crowd generally is, too. It might be getting to that point where speakeasies outnumber non-twenties themed bars, but Next Door pulls it off without it feeling kitschy or over-the-top. Whenever I’ve visited, they’ve played modern music and juxtaposed it with projected silent black-and-white films on the walls. I absolutely love the atmosphere here — the seating/standing area is spacious so it’s great for large groups. There’s also decent lighting and you can actually hear someone if you’re interested in what they have to say to you.(So maybe not the best place to go if you’re looking for a dark, sweaty dance-off). I’ve visited twice for birthdays, both times having reserved a table for free. I also brought in mini cheesecakes for my brother-in-law’s birthday last year — they were so helpful they even put candles on them and brought them out at midnight. He was completely surprised and I was so appreciative of the exemplary service! And if that’s not enough to convince you, their food and drinks are actually really good! I love their hummus plate, and their complementary appetizers are always a topic for discussion. Hopefully I’ll get to visit again soon, or at least, help let everyone know that a night at Next Door is bound to be the bee’s knees!

There was a roach… actually a pretty big roach. John Taffer says that if you see one roach that just means there’s a colony of them lurking. It’s actually pretty disgusting and I’m embarrassed to admit I not only drank there, I also had their food. Food was overly greasy, like when the deep fryer isn’t hot enough and the food just sits there absorbing the oil until it’s ready. The drinks were far from impressive. I feel like they were all similar and not very imaginative or even good for that matter. The ambiance was cool, I really wish they’d improve on some things. I really have no desire to come back. Meh

If you’re looking to impress your friends or a date, than take them to this super cool Hollywood speakeasy, Next Door Lounge. The bouncer was super cool and polite when we gave him that evening’s password and we were transported to another world when we walked in. With a mellow jazz trio playing in the corner and cabaret style café tables perfect for dates on the floor, my group was situated at the plush leather couches and chairs along the far wall. The bar food was quite tasty and perfect for sharing. We shared several of their personal pizzas as well as the beef and pork sliders! While the food is tasty, the real stars at the Next Door Lounge are the creative cocktails crafted by the mixologist that work their magic here. I highly recommend the Negroni for those with sophisticated palates and drinks like the Heebie Jeebies for the faint-of-heart. Check the Next Door Lounge website as they often have themed nights from Murder Mystery nights to Whiskey Wednesdays. Cheers!

I went there a couple weeks ago for an event, so I decided to go back an try their happy hour. This happy hour made me the happiest of any I’ve been to in LA. First of all, the happy«hour» lasts from 5−8pm. One of the longest happy hours I’ve found. They have a really nice happy hour menu, and all the food was delicious. See my pics with the description of the food. I would most recommend the sliders, they were terrific, but you can’t go wrong with anything you order there. The drinks are well crafted. My friend is from Cuba and she said the daiquiris were authentic, and just how they are supposed to be. She’s never found any like that in LA. I loved my whiskey sour. You can tell the bartenders there are real craftsmen. All the drinks had a real touch of class. Seating is ample and very comfortable. There are several areas set up like mini living rooms, with sofas and chairs. Great if you are with a small group and want to hang out together. When you arrive, you are greeted by the doorman. It seems kinda’ exclusive, like he might not let you in, but he’s cool. It makes you feel special because you passed muster and made it thought the door. It’s got that«Speak Easy» feel to it. I think that’s what they are going for. It has a bit of New Orleans flair. Our server was great. She was very professional, accommodating, and efficient. She even let us know when happy hour was about over in case we wanted to order anything more to eat or drink. Very cool. All my friends loved it and thanked me for recommending it. This now is on my list of favorite places to go for eats and drinks. Don’f forget to check in on Unilocal when you go, you’ll get a free appetizer.

I expected so much more… I guess things have changed since some past reviews. We arrived exactly on time, at 6pm, a party of three, and were ushered past the cool gentleman in formal top hat, coat and tails with white gloves. Once inside, I liked the vibe, very cool speakeasy décor with chandeliers and industrial pipes across the ceiling. Large center floor area and some nooks with love seats and stuffed chairs on each side of the room. Nice bar in the middle and servers dressed in period costumes. So far, so good. Then we were seated at Table 9– way, way, way in the back right corner of the room. This might have been okay, except for the fact that the speaker above our table wasn’t working. Which means we couldn’t hear the emcee, nor the clues, nor the directions for the murder mystery components. The people at our table, on our«team», were quite nice and we did somehow manage to WIN the competition. The food, all three of us ordered the pasta, was good. The drinks smelled strong and had cute names, like Illegal Smile, but oddly didn’t have any effect as strong drinks usually do(ahem). Once the directions and clues were given(that we couldn’t hear) — it was complete chaos. People wandering around looking for clues at other people’s tables and at the bar and in the bathroom hallway. Confusion. Not well organized and not really fun. We only won because we guessed who the killer was but didn’t match the identity to the correct character. This happened because we did not know that particular character existed since we couldn’t hear anything going on at the stage area in the very front of the room. Overall, what should’ve and could’ve been an ultra cool experience was definitely lacking. Disappointed.
