Such a romantic private spot! Love the concept of having no menu and letting the bartender take complete creative control over the drinks. They are pricier but well worth it considering the unique creation you are given. I loved coming here with my boyfriend on Friday night!

5 stars because in my younger days I would have been all over this place making plans to come back while I was already there. My middle age self would give it 3 stars, so I’m channeling my party girl days right about now. Watching these guys craft these cocktails was fascinating and entertaining to say the very least. It truly is an art form. I asked for some specific ingredients and got nothing close to remotely resembling what I asked for. I drank it anyway. The massive singular ice cube, while aesthetically pleasing really cuts your drink to about a third liquid. Drinks are pricey, yet standard for LA at $ 18. An evening here could easily set you back a couple hundred without consuming any solid food. BF was in somewhat pleased, but not overwhelmed with his scotch concoction. A tiny and loud as fuck space, which is not my flavor whatsoever, but again, in another life it would have been. It was a saving grace that at 48 I was not the oldest person in the room, but this is a young person sort of crowd. Knock yourself out, kiddos, those days are few and far between, but I enjoyed the experience nonetheless. The scene is very happening and oh so Hollywood. Cool place to bring out of towners, it’s located in the trendy Roosevelt, it’s full of sights to be seen.

mhm it took me a while to figure out why this place is called a Library bar. I won’t ruin it for you, try to find books in there:) will be fun once you do. The place is very small, and on the way there I passed by another bar that looked bigger and possibly better. Will check it out next time;) they have a lot of greens and fresh fruit at the bar, I wonder what do they do with them? Haha

I LOVETHISPLACE. The door man is charming, security is friendly but professional, music is usually great and the bartenders are exceptional. The owner or manager clearly picked a great team! I always have a great time.

Gave library bar another chance and I had more fun this time. The Dj was better and it was full and lively. Music really does make a difference!

I don’t know what happened this past weekend, but for a Saturday evening at 11pm the Library Bar was tame. There wasn’t loud music blazing next door, just a cozy atmosphere. As always, there are seats within the bar and outside in the lobby area. The mixologists here are simply the best, my directions resulted in another great mystery cocktail! I just learned during this visit that it is best to valet at the Roosevelt Hotel. The bar offers 3 hour validation(making valet $ 9), which is drastically cheaper than parking in the nearby parking structure.

Great little cocktail bar that serves bespoke cocktails. Small entrance off the east side of the lobby, across from 25 Degrees. 2 good sized booths, a couple couches, 4 chairs around a small cocktail table, and a bar about 8 wide with plenty of standing room for about a couple dozen more. At the bar there is a hedge of herbs, peppers, bitters and greens that separate you from the bartenders. There are no menus here, the salad in front of you is to help inspire your creativity. The mixologists know all of the classics and if you don’t know the name of a drink, don’t worry, just let them know what you are thinking of and they’ll come up with something to suit your taste. Had drinks twice here on Saturday, the first time was at 7PM before dinner and ordered from the side of the bar for quicker service(was 3 deep in the middle, casuals). I had twist on a Penicillin and they made the Mrs. a gin based cocktail with fresh tomato juice which was quite refreshing. Both enjoyed. Our friends ordered a Greyhound made with fresh grapefruit, really good, and a vodka based cocktail featuring arugula which I enjoyed a sip of but the drinker orderer didn’t care much for it(says was reminiscent of health juice). The second time was after going out to dinner and another bar, must’ve been about 1AM as we heard last call shortly before we left. This time we were able to take a seat at the center of the bar, as patrons were thinning out. Let the bartender know I was looking for something with red bell peppers, mezcal and a bit of heat and he came up with what is pictured — initially sweet with a smoky spicy finish. Solid bartenders, fresh ingredients, and an ideal location make this a perfect spot for a small group, a date, or to impress a client. Salute!

My sister and I stayed at the Roosevelt, so we had to try the library. I’ve never experienced anything like this place! Cozy, comfy, and creative. Simply tell your bartender your favorite spirit and flavored. I especially love all the fresh ingredients on the bar top. A must try!

Bartender did a really interesting take on the classic Old-Fashioned with grapefruit and cherry sauce. Love the scent of all the leaves on the bar. Looking forward to the paprika-charred octopus.

I have to say this is one of my all time favorite bars, the cozy ambience and customized cocktails always hit the spot. But sadly I was disappointed at my last visit because the bartender was a narcissistic prick… We get it, you make exceptional drinks, but part of your job is also providing SERVICE, smiling and being pleasant really wouldn’t kill you! Still giving them 4 stars because the drinks deserve it, and the staff is usually pretty cool.

Meh, it’s an okay place. Drinks taste good, not too strong not too weak. But the atmosphere is kinda weird, crowd is a lot of foreigners who are a bit socially awkward lol

This bar is nostalgic for me because it was one of the first that my now bf and I went to almost four years ago. I’m glad we came here because I know it will be in business for many more years and it makes for great celebratory drinks for us as a couple. The bartenders are knowledgable, passionate, and not arrogant like many high-end lounges. This along with Spare Room upstairs are some of my favorites in the area!

Vastly overrated. The ambiance is nice, similar to the Gibson in DC. But with no crowd control, so it can get pretty loud. The bartender tells you the lay of the land and comes up with a custom drink for you. This of course comes with an expensive custom price. When I pay $ 17 for a drink, it has to sing to me, like a $ 17 music album. I requested a fruity, yet slightly spicy drink. I can handle a lot of spice. I ended up with a ridiculously spicy drink. I requested something else, but ended up with a seriously toned down version of the spice overload drink. The concept is nice, but the execution can be a bit off, especially with their make their own price concept.

Touristy, cramped, mediocre drinks, miserable experience. We wanted to have fun so badly but the level of douchery was off the charts. I’m a local and I avoid this spot like the plague.

Looking for something unique to impress out-of-towners? Look no further. I was said out-of-towner, and I was impressed. This bar is located inside a hotel, so it’s pretty small. But the energy is great, and the ambiance is sexy and sophisticated. The bartenders here are artists; BARtists, if you will. One does not simply walk up to the bar here and order a Jack and Coke. One selects his/her 1) liquor of choice and 2) desired flavor profile(eg, peppery, citrusy, flowery, smokey, etc), then stands back while the bartist works his/her magic. 5 minutes later and 15 ingredients deep, you will be handed an visually appealing and delicious adult beverage that is sure to please. Be forewarned: skilled bartistry comes at a cost. A single drink here will run you around $ 20. If you’re looking for a cheap drunk, this is not the place for you. Unless you’re loaded. Then, more power to you.

Warm and cozy! I must say I was impressed and we will be coming back. Sure, it was dark, but thats part of what I loved about it. My only reason for not giving them 5 stars is because I had to pick a rubber band out of one of the condiment glasses… I wouldve hated if that landed in my cocktail.

Place filled up well. Big crowd. Not very great music, I was pretty bored while being there, only think to do when you’re bored is drink, drink, drink! Went on Christmas Day by the way.

First I must say that this bar is genius. Basically, you go and ask the bartender to make any drink of your fancy-based on a mood, or a word, or something as audacious as a meatball(which the bartender said was his most obscene request), and they’ll mix a new cocktail creation tailor made for you on the spot. Mojitos are my go-to cocktail on any given night, so I asked for a fruity one. The bartender really outdid himself. I got a passion fruit raspberry mojito and my taste buds were in heaven! Highly recommend for the creative experience + really solid concoctions.

Tucked inside the historic Roosevelt Hotel, you’ll find the Library Bar adjacent to the hotel atrium near the entry. It’s a small bar that has vintage English feel. The interior is dim with leather seats which are quite comfortable. You order your drinks at the bar. The is no cocktail menu here. Bartender will ask you for your type of drink and it’s custom made. If you’re not sure, pick a spirt and your in taste or combinations of taste(sweet, spicy, sour, fruity). Cocktails are served over a huge block of ice that not only keeps the drink cold, doesn’t water down the drink as does crushed ice or smaller pieces of ice. There’s no dress code here but it’s fancy so I’d come to impress though you’ll find a hotel guest come in flip flops, shorts and a shirt. Like most hotel bars, drinks are a bit pricey here($ 18/ea). Definitely worth a visit to enjoy a drink.

Loved this place! Recommend by a fellow Unilocaler and this was the only place I bookmarked before my trip. It’s inside the Roosevelt hotel. When you walk in from the Hollywood Blvd, go left. This little bar is located by the corner, tacked away. They have small numbers of bar stools and handful chairs and one long couch. So tiny but it gives you intimate ambiance. I also liked the nice scent they had, either they were using aroma oil or could be from all the fresh ingredients they had on their bar counters. No menu, you just tell the bartender what you feel like and they will create to suit your feeling. The drink I had was strawberry cucumber mojito. Strawberry was so fresh, i enjoyed eating fresh strawberries. Fresh mint added nice scent and flavor to my drink. It was sweet but not too sweet, just enough and the fresh mint gave me refreshing feeling. Just what I needed. I really like they use fresh ingredients, makes drink taste so much better. Great place to bring your date as this place is so cozy and create intimate ambiance. Yes it is in the middle of busy Hollywood but this tiny place is quiet, good place to have conversation and enjoy drinks. Highly recommend!

The Library at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood serves the absolute best tasting drinks in LA, hands down. This place is dope when it comes to the uniqueness of the drink and the overall ambiance of this little establishment. This place is really small, but extremely well taken care of and a great ambiance for anyone looking to get away from the hustle of Hollywood. As you walk in you’ll notice that it is really dark and really small, then you’ll soon realize there is no menu to be had… Just tell the bartender what your preference of alcohol is and they’ll do the rest. I’m a gin drinker so naturally it was gin and omg, the drinks were absolutely amazing. I have no idea what was in these drinks, but it was certainly the freshest ingredients and most eclectic mixture of things combined with gin that I have ever tasted. The drink literally blew my mind with the amount of taste being extracted. Fantastic experience and fantastic bar service. Highly recommended. Pros– Drinks Taste Fresh ingredients Location Ambiance Bartenders Smell in the air Cold press fruits/veggies Uniqueness Combination of flavors Cons– A bit too dark Pricey Hard to find

This is a really interesting place. The best way I can describe it is a really cool, swanky, seedy joint. It is an old school hotel lobby with leather couches and seats strewn about the area, and the lighting is dim but it sets the ambiance and fits in with the overall of the place. There was a bar in what I would call the front corner of the lobby. There are no servers so you have to walk up to the bar to order a drink and because there are no servers the bar was a few people deep when we visited. The bartenders are on top of their game though and you do not have to wait long to have your drink in your hand. There were quite a cast of characters there when we went which made for great people watching, and honestly what does one expect from Los Angeles. The prices were average for a big city a mixed drink roughly $ 15 and an average glass of wine between $ 8 and $ 15. This is a pretty cool place to stop in for a drink. I’m sure there’s a lot of history behind the actual location as well. If you are in the area I highly recommend popping in here enjoying a cocktail.

I want to live here. This is a very small bar located in The Roosevelt hotel and you wouldn’t know it existed unless you bothered to try and find it. My boyfriend and I ended up here accidentally and I truly believe that accidents happen for a reason because this was so fantastic. As I said, it’s very tiny, it probably can hold 15 — 20 people max, which only adds to the exclusive feel of this bar. It’s dark inside with comfortable leather chairs and booths. It’s the kind of place where you want to stay there, drinking your cocktails, while smoking a cigar and enjoying life. I wasn’t aware that this place makes customized $ 17.00 cocktails so when I ordered my drink, I was surprised at the price but my god, it’s worth it. I told the bartender that I loved gin, egg white and rosewater. She said she had lavender and we went from there. My drink was comprised of egg white, gin, lavender, basil, cucumber and blood orange and had blackberries in it. It was just so good. I’m a sucker for herbal tasting drinks and this was just smooth. I really had to pace myself because I could have easily drank this in under 5 minutes — it was that delicious. I really want to come back here when I’m not under a time constraint. You should take someone you love here(as my boyfriend says, «take yourself») or take someone you want to impress, it’s a great first date spot.

Great ambiance, talented bartenders, but not really my cup of tea, or booze, I should say. Each drink is $ 17, which is fair, given the quality of the ingredients, I suppose. They take an age to order though, since there’s one bartender, and even after you carefully explain what you like(make mine taste like rocket fuel; not at all sweet), it’s still a gamble as to whether or not you’ll want to drink the interpretation of your preferences. My results? They were just OK. I feel bad saying that(do I?), but it’s just too much of a crap shoot for almost $ 20.

Truly amazing speakeasy bar located inside the Roosevelt Hotel right off Hollywood Blvd. The bar is kinda small but very cozy. It’s such an ideal place for a date night, indeed. We were there to kill time before our dinner. I admired the mixology skills of the bartenders with good quality ingredients here so much. Simply tell the bartender your preference, likes and dislikes and you’ll get unique drinks of the night. The giant ice cube is totally something beyond my expectation. I forgot what did I have but it’s so delicious. With the right people, you’ll enjoy the library bar to the max. Too bad we couldn’t stay there long. But I would definitely coming back for more whenever I come near by Hollywood blvd., I promise.
