Good atmosphere, the food… not so much. Our first time at the Curragh and most likely the last. The only thing that salvaged this from being a one-star was the average service. I figured since it’s an Irish pub, I’d go with a classic — the corned beef and cabbage. My dish arrived with three chunks of corned beef, an oversized portion of mashed potatoes, and an average size helping of cabbage. The chunks of corned beef were dry and dense. The mashed potatoes lacked any sort of real flavor and the cabbage seemed undercooked and also flavorless. To make things worse, everything on the plate was barely warm. I thought it might have just been me, but someone else had the corned beef and cabbage as well and said the same thing. Another person in our party ordered the Guinness fish and chips and said it was ok, but was very oily. They seem to have a decent selection of beers on tap, so that’s a plus. Nothing compelling enough to bring me back again though.

Awesome Irish theme pub. Great location in downtown Holland and the food is good as well. Very warm atmosphere and I’ve always had great service. I’ve been here for lunch, dinner and late night drinks with friends and my experience has always been the same.

Went for dinner and the service was terrible, we sat at bar with friends and requested a table, it’s was a 30 minute wait, they never told us our table was ready 1 hour later we got sat. We were with some friends and we ordered it took so long to put our order in then ate, and another 45 minutes to get check. Server never came to table to fill water or to ask if we wanted anything else to drink or see how we were doing. Food was ok, that’s why I gave them an extra star in my review.

I thought this place was pretty good. 1. Plenty of TVs 2. Decent priced draughts 3. Spot at the bar for me to watch my wolverines. 4. Food was great 5. A great option if you ladyfriend is shopping and you just need a beer

To put in context it’s an Irish themed pub in the Holland downtown core. The food is ok and so is the Guinness, put it all together and you have an extra option without having to drive to Grand Rapids. I find myself here a lot more for the convenience. If your an Irish pub purist I feel you’ll be disappointed.

Cozy spot for a drink but poor fare. Feels like a warm and clean Irish pub/restaurant. My Boxty potato pancake felt like a kids meal with tons of cheese pouring out of it and little vegetables or taste. Fish and chips were soggy. Honestly probably some of the worst I’ve had. Fish and exterior looked good but they just feel apart without any flavor. The sausages on the bangers were basically hot dogs. My wife’s sister didn’t like her fish meal either. Huge menu of food here. They should cut it down and work on their plates to go with a decent environment.

Completely enjoyed the Boxty special… A delicious potato pancake seasoned just right and loaded with Seafood, topped with a creamy cheese sauce and served with side of perfectly seasoned seasonal veggies … Best dish Ever! The music was great, bartenders very attentive and knowledgeable… All in all a Great experience.

After walking past the skeezy«security guard» that was smoking and yelling at /flirting with(it was a confusing dance) a couple of girls, I walked in, only to be ignored by 3 bartenders. Which gave me plenty of time to listen to the horrific boy band /rap music mix blaring throughout, complete with f-words. One star because the Smithwicks was cold. Wish I could subtract that star since when I asked for Smiddicks, the bartender responded«Smith-wicks»? I know I shouldn’t expect anything remotely close to an authentic Irish bar experience in Holland Mi. But good geez, at least pronounce your Irish beer names correctly… I’ve been here several times over the years, when I wait on my husband to come in on the train. It has gotten progressively worse. So farewell to those 21 year old young ladies ordering Irish car bombs at the bar and giggling as I left. For I’ll never step foot in here again and I advise anyone reading this to do the same. Squeeze yourself into New Holland, go over to the«Our Brewing» across the street, anything. Save yourselves.

Came with a large group and the manager kicked us out even before we all sat down. It was a group of families from our swim team, very rude. Stated we were too loud coming thru the door. Then we left and we’re standing on the sidewalk out front trying to decide where to go and she said we had to move or she was going to call the cops. Pam Kimber is the rudest manager that I have ever incountered. I would never go to this pub or recommend it to anyone!

We came here to celebrate a Hope College graduation and were very pleased with both the service and the food. A few of us had salads which were great! The beer cheese soup was amazing and the veggie burgers were to die for. We were so happy with the meal and will for sure be going back!

Blackened strawberry salmon didn’t live up to expectations. Didn’t taste any strawberry or pecan and wasn’t blackened. Waitress left and her replacement was clueless. There were only 2 of us and she couldn’t get the main dish salad and drink on the right bill. She also was a poor waitress like missing silverware and clearing dishes. Salad was just OK. 3 stars is right.

Nice outdoor seating; they even brought a bowl of water out for my dog. Very friendly service. Great lunch. Cheddar beer soup, Ploughman’s lunch, and the Black and Tan sandwich.

My family of 5 ate dinner here during the last night of Holland’s street fair. There is a nice variety of Irish fare along with typical American pub food. I had the Black and Tan sandwich(Reuben), which was phenomenal — the fresh bread was the best part. It was not too greasy or too creamy with sauce. I had a Black and Tan to drink with it(Guinness and Harp). My wife had the cottage pie(chicken instead of beef pot pie). She liked the fresh veggies in it. Kiddos had veggies and chicken fingers, and pizza. Good prices for kids meals with drink and side. Our waitress was awesome — very good with the kiddos and checked up on us a lot.

I’d never been to Holland before last weekend and it is seriously one of THE cleanest, friendliest, towns I’ve ever visited. We ate our first night at the hipster New Holland Brewing Company across the street. While the homemade Gin and Tonics hit the spot the food and service were horrible. I will never go back… ever On the other hand I was recommended The Curragh by the Starbucks Barista and we arrived late at 10 pm and sat pn the patio. Our waitress was so sweet and friendly even after a long shift and suggested amazing pub fare which we devoured. I cannot tell you how attentive she was. It was so good, we decided to return the following night and try some other dishes and again our new server was one of the best I’ve ever had. Along with great food and a guitarist playing Locomotive Breath Irish style it couldn’t have been better. Go Michigan!

I’m a bit surprised to see some of the low reviews. My brother took me here for dinner, he has eaten here several times and always enjoyed the food. They have a good sized patio area which was full when we arrived. Rather than wait for a table to empty we opted to sit inside. The interior had a relaxed feel to it. My brother had their lamb stew and I had their Shepherd’s Pie. We both had a bit of the other’s meal and each thought both were excellent. The lamb and veggies were tender and the stew’s flavor was really good. The Shepherd’s pie meat and veggies were just as good. Another reviewer mentioned they thought it was heavy on the mashed potatoes. Maybe it was, but I love mashed potatoes so maybe I was just okay with it. The mixed vegetables on the side were lightly cooked and not mushy. The meals also came with small slices of a homemade bread, also good. We had beer and hard cider with the meal. The waitress provided good service, drinks and food came out quickly. I’ll be back next time I’m in town.

Looking for a hangout place in downtown Holland, Michigan? This place has a good beer selection, lots of outside seating, and overall a good Irish Pub feel. It’s a large restaurant/bar with a small stage on one end where bands will play some evenings, I presume. In my experience the service is slow — maybe they just need a bigger kitchen or fewer seats — although friendly. The only thing I’ve ordered recently is the Irish fries. They are large cut potatoes with melted cheese and bacon bits. It comes with ranch dip and is large enough to share with 3 – 4 people. It’s bar food all the way!

We ate dinner here two nights in a row. The first night I hd the fish and chips, WOW! Some of the best fish I’ve ever had, the fries were very plain though… We came back with a larger group Sunday night and because of my recommendation 4 – 5 people ordered the fish and chips and all of them loved it. We also ordered a few appetizers for the table and both the Mozzarella sticks and the Spinach and Artichoke dip were fantastic.
