Recently I sat down and interviewed myself about my experience at Yorgios. So tell us, how do you say the name? It seemed very important that the name was correct because the pronunciation was plastered everywhere. Its Yor Gos. Say it with me now. YOURGOES. Perfect. What was your first impression? Well it was not crowded at all. Very beautiful interior. Outside patio looks like it was be outstanding in the summer. Worth another shot. I bet this places would be fantastic for a large party, wedding, work banquet. Had a full bar, yes full bar, with 2 TVs, dance floor. Music was«todays hits», and it came from a central point rather than equally distrubuted.(why did i just write that? haha. not sure, felt necessary). Was dressed appropriately, can prob go in T’s and Jeans, but would be better suited with at least button up. Judgement call I suppose. Sort of odd when I called to make a reservation. Phone was answered«Thank you for calling Yorgios corporate can I help you?» «Uh… is this the number to make reservations or??? The food? Do tell… Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to my girfriends plate. Along the way he stopped to pick up lady friend asparagus. Sir Chicken and Miss Asparagus stopped and picked up some amazing wild rice along the way to complete the dish. The tomato sauce and feta topping made it delicious. Yours truly got the Chefs special which was Salmon. The seasoning was fantastic. Honestly, might be the best salmon I’ve had in Utah. Sides were the same as chicken and it complimented the dishes nicely. Didnt have an appetizer or dessert. Tell me(yes myself) about the service It was pretty solid. By pretty solid I mean normal. I wasnt overly wowed nor was I dissapointed. I feel like I was treated like a average young couple who was probably viewed as not a big spender. She didnt go out of her way to wow and was just doing a «normal» job. Again, not bad, not great, just average. So why 4 stars? Along with just average service comes this. I received a mailer for this place that was advertising, buy 2 entrees and get a free appetizer. On their website it is also posted. Yes this did spark my decision, but after Unilocaling it prior and seeing only 3 reviews I decided Id give it a try. I forgot my mailer, and didnt have a printer to print coupon. I brought it up to the waitress and she insisted I had the coupoun. Call me crazy but this seemed like an easy thing to do? I get that it may be policy, and I respect that if thats the case BUT I felt like it could have been an easy fix.

I will start out this review with the disclaimer that I will be going back to this place, this review is just based on this experience. Server was amazing! She was attentive and friendly and one of the best servers I have had in a really long time. The décor was nice, the disco ball was a «unique» touch. The wine list is… eh… The caprese was ok. My dinner companion had a wonderful pasta that she loved, my dinner(I am a little strange) but when I read a menu I look at the details, when a menu says chicken breast and does not mention bone in I just assume(I know I shouldn’, t I should ask) but I do assume that it is a boneless breast of chicken. When my dinner came out the chicken was bone in and the rice was very very greasy. I was only able to eat the veggies that came with my meal. When I asked the server about the bone in chicken breast she said that the chef sometimes did bone in sometimes did boneless. I will go back again just because of the great service and give the dinner menu another shot. I will just ask lots of quesitons and hopefully won’t leave extremely hungry again.

Finally made it to Yorgio’s. We were very impressed! The service was wonderful. The calamari was the best I’ve tasted, anywhere. Perfect amount of breading with a nice crispiness. The tentacles were separated from the«body rings» and the two sauces were great! My pork chop with apple-brandy demi glacé was perfect. I thought the reduction might be sweet, but it was actually very savory and was a superb accompaniment to the double cut chop. The chop was tender and juicy and expertly cooked. Lisa had the salmon salad, but since the salmon hadn’t been delivered for the day, they substituted barramundi and it was excellent. My salad was crisp and fresh and the house made ranch dressing was dynamite. The steak fries were also very good… I ate every last one! We arrived at 6pm on a Saturday and were literally the only table. Another couple arrived around 6:20 and then, finally, a couple of groups arrived as we were leaving around 8 o’clock. They were gearing up for a big party later that night, but we were pretty worried about the lack of business. I’m not sure if it’s a location thing(it’s off the beaten path) or if people assume it’s still just a bar(it used to be Hot Rod Hunley’s and Dimitri’s). The martini glass in their logo may be confusing, but make no mistake, this is a fine dining establishment first and a bar second. I hope business picks up and they make it, because I have a fever and only prescription is more calamari!

** Cannot be beat! ** I just love this place — the food, atmosphere, drinks & service have ALWAYS been phenomenal. The dining experience is definitely one you will remember, delicious entrees & a patio that’s out of this world! Feeling a bit more social? Sit at the bar & chat it up. A little something for everyone! This place is my new favorite!
