Ok… this place went BEYOND my expectations. I hosted a brunch here for about 19 or so of my friends and it was everything and more. Service: Stellar. Amelia(the manager/owner) was working that day and she made sure everything went off without a hitch. We had a small issue and within seconds she corrected it and it was smooth sailing from there. The wait staff was fantastic across the board. Service means everything to me… and Amelia and her staff surpassed my expectations by far. Amelia actually sent a round of Mimosa’s to my group on the house, to acknowledge the issue and rectify it. Such good form and respectable service. Food: Amazing. The presentation was perfect. We went for Brunch on Saturday and it was everything! You get quite a bit of food for the $ 28 prix fixe menus… except drinks. It would have been nice to have mimosas and bloody mary’s included in the cost, but that’s minor. Everything tasted amazing(I had a little bite from a few friends’ plates :))… Must haves: The stuffed French toast and Eggs Benedict were the winners! :) Cost: Very reasonable. As stated in the paragraph before, $ 28 for the Prix Fixe, but drinks are separate… I think for what you get, it’s fair. Ambiance: Just adorable… I missed the picture train, however, it’s so incredibly dainty and a hidden gem. It’s very airy. Would be great for a baby shower, wedding shower, or even a date night. Overall: I would absolutely go back. The staff was amazing, the food was delicious, and most importantly my guests enjoyed themselves. When the guests are happy, the host is happy… which leads to a glowing review on Unilocal. Thank you, Amelia for everything.

Sunday brunch was a killer.(My friends were calling it food porn LOL) For 28 bucks per person, you get 2 appetizer(Greek yoghurt and canapés style tarts in our case), your choice of entrée and petite four style dessert. Food was tasty. Service was on point. My friends who live in the city coming to Hoboken for the first time and they were impressed.

I came here the other night while waiting for a friend to get into town. It was very quiet at the bar on a Thursday night. Perfect for a low key evening. It’s certainly not the cheapest place in Hoboken, but it’s worth it! The bartender helped me pick a great wine and gave some tips on the menu while I waited. They have made some new menu additions/created a bar menu which looks good… and I think they are tweaking to make even better! We got the scallops appetizer and the pork chop special. Everything was cooked very nicely and the flavors were spot on. Will be back!

A+ for the ambiance and service. Our waiter Jeff was very knowledgeable and attentive. Although portions are on the small side, the food was pretty good. There is outdoor seating as well. This place would make an excellent venue for an engagement party or wedding shower.

The Fig Tree is definitely a great spot in Hoboken for celebrating an occasion or going on a romantic date. We were here for the second and we both had a wonderful time. First off, I would definitely commend the service. Our waiter, Pedro, was extremely attentive. Upon us selecting a bottle of wine, he offered us to taste a few other wines(similarly priced), in order to make a well-informed choice. His timing was perfect and we did not feel any pressure during our stay there. The other waiters were also very kind and offered their opinion on menu items when asked. The wine was of very good quality. We tasted a few different types and were both happy with our final pick. The food was superb: we had the pan roasted sea scallops as an appetizer(with pancetta — the tastes blended perfectly). As a second course I ordered the roasted organic chicken, while my date had the grilled Atlantic swordfish — both of us were really satisfied with our choices. Finally, we were pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere — while this may be due to the fact we were there on a weekday(Wednesday evening), the place was quaint, the music was not too loud, and the lighting was dimmed.

My chef boyfriend and I(the bartender) came tonight to meet up with my vegetarian mom and bodyguard boyfriend… To say the least we were an eclectic bunch. But I am so happy to say how pleased we were with all parts of the night. The drinks were to die for, and were hip and fresh. then there was the service and the well thought out plating and food we left with full stomachs and a hearty laugh. The ambiance we were looking for was there as well as the staff being there when needed and leaving our hearty group alone when we needed it as well. From one restaurant industry person to another what a perfect evening.

The first time I came here was for Restaurant Week and I had a fantastic experience. All three courses were delicious, as were the wine pairings we got with them. Unfortunately the last two times i’ve been, they have been out of the menu items that I wanted to order. This is the only reason I can’t give it 5 stars. The first time was for a birthday party. It was the night before Valentine’s day, and the management explained to us that they had a different menu for that, which is why they ran out of their regular menu items. Understandable, but they ran out of almost every single item on the menu. They did have great customer service though, and brought us free champagne and desserts. Unfortunately the dish that I ended up eating for dinner was sub-par compared to what I was expecting(especially for the price). I went back for my mom’s birthday brunch a couple of months later, ready to order the duck hash browns. Of course, that was the only thing they were out of that day. My crab cake sandwich was really good, but I was still disappointed that I did not get to try the other dish. That being said, they give you so much food for brunch, it actually is a really good deal. For $ 28 you get 3 different mini breads, a fruit and yogurt parfait, 6 different savory bites, an entrée, and 4 different dessert bites. If it came with a cocktail also, it would be my new go to brunch spot.

My husband and I absolutely love this place for brunch! It is full of so many surprises. The menu always changes and we get more food than we ever thought possible. It is such a great deal and the food is incredible. We took my whole family there when they came to visit and they absolutely loved it. The atmosphere is very chic and inviting. The waitstaff is on top of you and top notch. I drink water pretty fast and they quickly filled it. Their cocktails are also very unique. It is a great place for a special occasion or to show people a more upscale feel in Hoboken for a reasonable price.

Can’t knock the service which was very good. Waters never left empty, polite and attentive wait staff and so on. but our second visit was a really uneven meal. Especially given the prices. My wife’s duck was fantastic but the accompanying peas were hard/uncooked(almost as though they were dried and not rehydrated). I had the surf and turf and found a fish bone in my lobster ravioli(which was also very fishy tasting). Super suspect. I’m guessing it was a fish filler and not really lobster. My filet was also a pretty ugly cut. Tasted fine and cooked as requested, but again for the price I expect a nicer cut of meat. It was also oddly empty for a Saturday night. We arrived @ 7 and left @ 9 and the place never filled beyond the 4 – 5 tables we started with. Not a good sign either.

This is only the second time I’ve been here, but I have to say that the second time around, I was even more pleased with the food and service we received. Yesterday(03⁄08), my boyfriend and I had a late(i.e., the final one of the day) brunch at The Fig Tree. Our server, Emelie, was friendly and attentive, and she gave us plenty of time to finish our food. I decided to order the crab cake sandwich, which came with a side of russet potato chips. My boyfriend ordered Dutch Baby Pancakes(stuffed with sliced, spiced apples and topped with fresh whipped cream). For our starter plate, we had a sampling of smoked salmon on tiny points of rye toast, two pieces of cream cheese and cucumber sushi, two small ham croquettes, and a small selection of pastries. We also split a bowl of plain Greek yogurt mixed with granola and fresh berries. Since my boyfriend absolutely despises salmon, I went ahead and ate both pieces of toast, and I ended up eating most of the yogurt/granola as well. All the appetizers, although tiny, were delicious, and they helped whet my appetite for what was coming. My crab cake sandwich was perfect. That’s it. Words fail me in describing how good this was. It was stuffed with huge lumps of crab meat and had bits of panko crumbs seared on the top and bottom. The remoulade sauce gave it a nice, tangy kick, and the bun tasted like it was toasted and then was lightly dipped in butter before being toasted again. I don’t even know what I’m saying anymore, this was just ridiculously good. And the russet potato chips were also awesome. My boyfriend enjoyed his pancakes and actually finished his plate. This almost never happens. I sampled some pieces of his meal and really liked the fluffy texture of the pancakes mixed with the savory spice of the apples. For dessert, we had another little sampler: two chocolate chip cookies, two tiny lemon meringue pies, and four chocolate espresso macarons. All were delicious, especially the lemon meringue pies. The price was a bit steep, but all in all, it was definitely worth it. I want to come back to The Fig Tree to try out their spring/summer menu.

When I first moved to Hoboken decided to buy all these groupons and The Fig Tree was one of them. The dining room is beautiful and elegant. And the service was phenomenal — our waiter was extremely attentive and friendly. I thought the food was ok but nothing special.

My first trip to The Fig Tree was several years ago, shortly after its opening and prior to its flood damage from Hurricane Sandy. Back then, I had loved its charming décor and brownstone location. I was shocked by how«New York» and gourmet the vibe was; it was unlike anything in Hoboken at the time. Later, I had heard that the restaurant was not quite as satisfying after its post-Sandy reopening, so I made no effort to rush back. However, my friend recently wanted to give it a try, and it had been several years, so I figured I would pay it another visit. When we arrived on that cold Friday evening, I was shocked to find only 2 ladies at the bar and 4 other tables of diners. Sure, it was breezy out, but I had still expected to see a larger crowd. We brushed off this issue with only a brief acknowledgement and threw open our menus. Our eyes widened in awe at all of the appealing options in front of us. Though we struggled to determine our plan of attack for the food, we were easily able to select our beverages. My Pear and Cucumber Mule started with a house-infused vodka with these namesake ingredients, as well as fresh lime, agave, and ginger ale. It was extremely crisp and refreshing. My friend opted for the restaurant signature cocktail, which combined Figenza Fig Vodka, honey, fig purée, and Lunetta Prosecco. I found it pretty sweet, but she adored its seasonality. The booze helped us think a bit more creatively, and we decided to share a variety of menu items. We started with the Duck Ravioli starter and the Lobster Mac N’ Cheese side dish. The ravioli was served open-faced and was accompanied by sautéed Swiss chard and leeks, glazed carrots, and a pesto sauce. While these toppings were intriguing, the duck was lukewarm and bland. It was a pretty disappointing way to start the meal. However, the«Mac» in the N’ Cheese was delightfully replaced with a lighter starch — orzo. The dish was also packed with huge chunks of perfectly cooked lobster, a rarity for a meal like this. We then moved onto some larger plates. The Oat Crusted Berkshire Hills Pork was a tender loin that remained moist beneath its crunchy oat exterior. It was served with a cabbage slaw that had been braised in Lambic, as well apples and brussel sprouts. The dish was satisfying, rustic, and delicious. We also ordered the Red Snapper that had been roasted in a coconut-curry sauce and plated with bok choy and shaved fennel. The chef was able to pull off the Asian flavors, but the sauce could have used some extra heat. Even with all of these decadent dishes, we simply could not skip dessert! We ordered the Blackberry-Pineapple Sundae, which was presented as a large glass with layers of house made ice cream, fruit purée, and caramel popcorn. Though Coconut was the recommended ice cream of choice, we replaced it with the Honey-Ginger, which included chunks of fresh ginger and sweet notes of honey. As stuffed as I was, I could not keep my spoon from continually diving into the high sundae cup; it was such a flavorful treat! My robust Decaf Coffee was an enjoyable compliment to the dessert’s sweetness. It had been our server’s first night on the job, so her insecurities were evident, but so was her sweetness. Between her endearing demeanor and the largely enjoyable cuisine, we had a great experience at The Fig Tree, which I would grant closer to a 3.5-star rating and certainly worthy of a repeat visit.

This Park Ave brownstone bistro deserves some serious recognition in a town that is overrun with bar food. Really great ambiance, beautiful holiday décor, in December, excellent service, and fine food. The cocktails were inventive and appropriate for the season, and the bartenders quite knowledgeable. Appetizers and warm breads were seductive enough to want to order some wine from the list that was not lacking. The owners know their wines, clearly. The filet of beef and rack of lamb were cooked to perfection. The duck ravioli was wonderful… Just a bit on the cold side. The pâté’ was good enough to return for more. Overall, a great place, with desserts worth saving some room for… crème brûlée’, tarte tartin, fabulous cookie assortments and after dinner cognac rounded out the night. The private party space was at the back of the main room and separated by sliding, French, glass doors… Elegant, enchantingly old world, and replete with a marble mantelpiece spanning the entire width of the space,(approximately 15 feet wide, as standard, brownstone architecture dictated.) I yearned to go back there and join the party, adorned with pine, streaming along with touches of gold, and crème colored table linens. Not a gaudy Santa in sight… just lovely garlands, embellished with tiny, white roses, and some diminutive, white lights. A memorable evening. an exquisite setting, and dining that is definitely worth the Manhattan prices.

Groupon plus tip equals $ 130. The wait staff was friendly, but seriously undertrained. There were so many mistakes it was laughable. The food was okay, but nothing on the Groupon menu excited me. I felt that the ambience was awkward until we were eating dessert and they turned on the music: That’s what was missing! I would have been unimpressed at half the price. Fig Tree is an awkward fit for Hoboken, and if you want fine dining New York City has way better for much cheaper. Very weak for the price!

Came here with bae for our 4-year anniversary and had a lovely meal. It’s hidden away in a basement spot on Park Ave which gives it a different feel than most fancy restaurants in Hoboken. We got the pre-fixe dinner and I started off with the Waldorf salad, which had great flavor but was on the smaller side. My entrée was beef two ways, which again was a small portion but the quality of the short rib was on point + really well flavored. The dessert was mind-blowing. It was a chocolate lava cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and cinnamon crumble and it was divine. Easily my favorite dessert in Hoboken. I really also appreciated the hospitality of the owner. She was extremely grateful for our patronage and I’d love to head back over there soon.

I am glad one of my friends dragged my here; Fig Tree is easy to miss if you are not looking for it. We settled in for a $ 25 pre-fixe brunch. That included one appetizer and dessert per person including an entrée. Biscuits and breads came out for the table which are terrific; no butter necessary. My entrée was french toast. It was not brimming with flavor but was complimented very well with the syrup they provided. Appetizers were fruit and were well put together. Dessert was small! I got a tiny cheesecake! I was not terribly upset about it though; it was a brunch after all so dessert is overkill. The service was great and contributed to the overall pleasant experience I had here. You would not have to twist my arm to return.

I’m kinda torn about this place. I want to love it and root for it, but I have a hard time seeing this place make it… Let me elaborate. What they do right… The service. Service here is super attentive and really in a class of its own in hoboken. The ambiance. It’s really classy here, inside and out. It’s elegant. The food. The salads were tasty, for a salad, and the chicken was really perfectly cooked. Desserts were nice as well. Where they fail… The combination of location and style. It’s super fancy, and almost doesn’t have a place in hoboken. It’s not a fancy town here. The location in the middle of a residential area doesn’t help it’s cause to lure in diners. The prices. It’s expensive here. Possibly the most expensive place in hoboken. I want to root for this place, I do. Realistically, at this price point, I’ll not be coming back(I came with a groupon). Generally you can eat for half as much in town, and the same price for better food in nyc. It’s a nice spot, but the combination of price and location, I expect, will cause issues down the line here. I hope I’m wrong, but it’s not worth the price for me for what it is.

Try it. In a slew of hoboken restaurants Fig Tree’s atmosphere is a refreshing change from the downtown Washington Street fare. Went for brunch, which I recommend: perfect simple upscale but not stuffy spot to have some good food and recoup from the weekend/catch up with friends. The Fritatta was a bit of a disappointment(reads wonderfully but tastes bland), skip it and go for the Salmon, does not disappoint. Don’t forget to wash it all down with a mimosa — Cheers! Tip: Opt for the $ 25 prix fixe brunch

Best damn meal I’ve had in awhile! We entered the restaurant at about 6:20pm and it was very empty, like desolate, like there was no one there but staff. This place is rather ginormous so for it to be so empty was pretty weird. We were lead into the main dining room(which is also the middle dining room) with a view through the glass doors to the patio and a fireplace for that extra warm-romantic feel. The place was pretty romantic in general; the décor and lighting added to this. The music did not necessarily add to it, it was dramatic and kind of all over the place(Pandora/Spotify, I’m sure). THEFOOD: My, oh my, the food! We had decided before even arriving that we’d we doing the pre-fixe(this place is hella pricey sans pre-fixe & it was NOT that kinda night). They serve the pre-fixe all night Sun-Wed…ALLNIGHT! It was so good, that I feel the need to break this review into sections. Enjoy! — — — — — — — — – BREAD: Once our, very attentive, waiter took our orders, we were served a small plate of 4 bread bites; 2-cheddar cheese-chive &2-cornbread, with a dish of honey-butter(yup, that’s right, melted-ready-for-dipping, HONEYBUTTER). Both breads were delicious, the cornbread was amazing with the HONEYBUTTER. AMUSE-BOUCHE(Surprise): We were not expecting anything after the bread but were pleasantly surprised when presented with this salmon purée upon a light cracker. My dining partner, who does not like fish, even said it was pretty good.(It was actually delicious!) APPETIZER: We each got the Jersey Tomato & Burrata Salad. It was very simple. The tomatoes were ripe. The cheese was soft and yummy. The sauce that was drizzled around the plate, gave the dish a little bit of necessary flavor. ENTREEEEEEE: Again, we ordered the same thing. The Beef Two-Ways! And I thank the sweet Lord for it! This dish was amazing! The hanger steak was seasoned perfectly, tender, and prepared correctly. We ordered medium-rare and actually got medium-rare(what?!). The short rib ravioli was a little«extra-al dente» but not enough to keep that deliciousness out of my mouth! [I am currently salivating at the thought of this meal.] DESSERT: We had the Chocolate Lava Cake(I think they called it Liquid Chocolate or something) & Fruit Carpaccio.(Note: In general, I despise the lava cake and everything it stands for.) That being said, this 1 was pretty good. My «fruit carpaccio» was a bowl of sliced citrus, a tuille, and a dollop of sorbet. It was tasty and super refreshing. But, definitely not worth the $ 11 non-pre fixe price tag. — — — — — This experience has me very seriously considering going back tonight. Is that crazy? Yes. Do I care? NO! From the atmosphere, to the service, and of course, the food… A FIVESTAREXPERIENCE
