Took my laptop in which I thought had power problem. They take deposit for one hour which is $ 100 something. A technician called me after a full day asking for password and told me that they are now going into Phase 2. The next day another technician called me and told me that the problem was the power cable not plugged in properly to the adaptor. The technician than asked me since my virus software has expired if I want them to install a free software. Without much thinking I said yes. When I went to pick the computer, they charged for the full $ 100 something deposit. When I asked if they indeed took 1 full hour, the response I received was that 30min was spent on identifying the power issue and the other 30 min was spent on installing virus software and running some checks. It took full 2 days to fix the problem of loose power cable and cost 100 something. I went in after reading the other reviews that spoke of giving honest fee assessment and refunds, but I doubt I will go back.

Here is a unbiased review of my recent computer PANIC! I received truly professional and outstanding service at FlashTech when I was having a computer problem. I was unsure about how the process works and was afraid of getting ripped off about something I know very little, but they walked me through the whole process on the phone and explained their very detailed billing and additional work approval system. It was explained which components and cables I needed to bring and those that could stay at home so the process could be 100% thorough. When I brought my equipment to the shop, they recorded very detailed notes for the technician who would work on my machine, and had me approve them. I received a call from the tech after he had discovered the problem and was provided with solutions and also offered some additional options. When I went to pick up the equipment, everything was ready and I even received a refund from the deposit I had originally provided. My only regret is I did bring my computer to them sooner. How about that a happy ending to a computer story.

These guys are crooks. The main guy had terrible customer service and lacked communication skills. I had a virus on my laptop with pop ups that I wanted removed. I walked in and he explains that they can guarantee how long it will take but it is $ 125 for the first hr and that this type of service should only take an hr. I paid the $ 125 and left my laptop. I get a call that night by a technician saying everything looks good and that I will receive a call in the morning to wrap everything up. I get a call in the morning by a different technician saying that the laptop won’t turn on and that it will cost another $ 125 to wipe it clean and try to get it back on. I was so frustrated. So i wind up paying $ 125 and now i can’t even get the thing on. A total waste of time, BS shop and unprofessional.

Flash Tech overcharges and under-delivers. Brought in my old laptop because it was running slow and they said they’d run a check on it. Yes the service was pretty fast, I had it back the same day but they charged me $ 250 and he told me I needed a new computer. It was running slow because it was an older model with less memory than newer ones. I feel like they over charge and prey on people who aren’t computer savvy and«run checks» on computers they know are old. He wasn’t very customer service oriented and snapped at me when I asked why they charged so much. I felt like a sucker. Will never go back and would not recommend.

Bad Customer Service by MANAGER. Rude and I will never use their services or give them a recommendation. There is never any reason to be snarky with customers. I am glad they can afford to turn customers away. Avoid at all costs

I had a problem with my PC and brought it in to Flash Tech Not being a tech person I had no clue all I know is I couldn’t loose my programs and needed my computer back up and running later that day. Deadlines to meet. The techs were great, kept me inform and found the problem after a testing period what had gone wrong. I couldn’t thank them enough as my computer was back in my office by 6PM I had a smile on my face and a feeling of relief — they didn’t try to make things worse than what they were and even offered some advice moving forward. I hate skewering people on Unilocal but this place has awful customer service. Went in looking for a cable for my computer and low and behold they had it! Made me very happy. Was checking out and the clerk(who was very sweet) looked me up in the computer and found me there which surprised me as I couldn’t remember the last time I was in there. Turns out I brought a computer in for repair back in 2000 and he offered to look up what the service was for just for fun. We were reviewing the record when the owner came out from the back, demanded my drivers license and said he couldn’t release any info without my proving who I was. I said I’d just given my credit card to the clerk with my name on it and that’s how he found me on the computer. The owner rudely insisted that wasn’t good enough and again demanded my drivers license. I was stunned! The poor kid at the counter has a terrible boss and I’ll never, ever go in there again. No «thanks for spending $ 30 on a computer cable» or anything from owner. Only a demand that I show id. Unbelievable!

Brought in my Mac for a tune up and to see if someone could figure out what was the menacing faint sound… They got my computer back within 24 hours. Found the loose screw inside and charged me only for a half hour of work. Nice guys.

This is the best repair service I have ever used. You will be charged upfront for a full hour’s service. I thought that would be a minimum. Boy was I surprised when they refunded half money since repairs only took a half hour. I respect the honestly! I was also able to pick up an enclosure in store for $ 30 to preserve my old hard drive. Very convenient. Hopefully I will not need repair services again anytime soon, but if I do I will definitely go back to Flash Tech.

SERIOUSPROFESSIONALS– ANDHONEST, TOO!!! My iMAC was reporting that my expensive color printer purchased in 2007 was out of toner when I’d just put in a new black cartridge. Hewlett Packard told me that the printer probably needed service. I took the printer to FlashTech. FlashTech told me that no, the printer was in great shape, and the problem was a reporting software glitch from the printer. A technician came to my apartment and fixed it. All of the employees were courteous, top-notch professionals. They could have told me my printer need servicing and parts, I wouldn’t have been any the wiser, but they didn’t. The technician informed me that my printer was superior to what’s on the market now, so I didn’t need to update it until it died, probably not for years. They could have convinced me to buy a new printer, but they didn’t. So the FLASHTECH folks are honest as well as thoroughly knowledgeable. Wow. They did NOT take the opportunity to pad the bill. Bravo, gentlemen. Thank goodness I now know where to go in the future if I have another technology issue.

Brought a computer in to have the hard drive checked out as the computer was acting up. They said the drive was bad– I asked about extracting the data and was told it would cost $ 800+ as a clean room would be needed blah blah blah. I took the laptop into my office IT dept and told them the story and they did it for free. Did not leave me with a sense of getting a good deal.

I had a great experience with Flash Tech. My toddler inadvertently broke my flash usb drive and I thought I had lost all my files. In a total panic, I called up Flash Tech. They were patient, super friendly, and explained everything up front. They gave me the honest worst case scenario and hopeful best case scenario, a reasonable price estimate, and told me they would call if they needed to charge me any more than the initial quote. In fact, the repair took less time than they estimated and they ended up refunding me some money back. They recovered all my files the same day I dropped it off with no extra fees. They are trustworthy, reliable, and very personable. I would definitely use their services again for any of my tech issues. Highly recommend.

Flash Tech is the best. I didn’t know what to expect from a small boutique type office in Hoboken for my computer needs, but there have been several issues that they were more then helpful in addressing. They always sought out cost effective fixes, sometimes not costing anything, when there were issues that needed their expertise, they were fairly priced and prompt in their service. They are my go to spot for anything computer/Mac related. Highly recommend.

After discussing what attempts I had already made with laptop, the guy was super honest and super helpful. Ultimately I will just buy a new laptop and won’t need their services, but if I have any further issues I will definitely go to these guys without any hesitation.

Ah, finally — a computer shop that knows what they’re doing. After placing 20 calls today, I finally found someone who knows what a mini-ITX board is! And they were really friendly. If you need a system built, I recommend Flashtech.
