I just tried the 145 into month and came 3 – 4 times a week to Shred415. I did enjoy the workouts but I probably won’t continue coming as often mainly because they have this gorgeous facility with ALLTHISEQUIPMENT yet almost every class was basically body weight and dumbbells. Which is fine, just a little boring after a while. I also would get annoyed that sometimes there were a ton of cardio intervals(in addition to the half hour on the treadmill), I would rather be lifting as we did cardio already. I would gladly pay $ 210 a month if I felt it was worth it– while the instructors were great– especially for running(I hate to run and totally got faster), but I can do all that stuff on my own. It IS a really hard intense workout, but for that kind of money I want to be using stuff I don’t already have at my house. So if you are brand new to working out. a cardio junkie or won’t self motivate, this place is great. I’ll probably come back on a drop in basis but I don’t think I will do the membership. I also loved that i could get in cardio and weights in just one hour. The locker room is small but the lockers lock with the code which is nice, they have two showers with free towels which is AWESOME. All in All, I would recommend but wish that the instructors would mix it up sometimes!

Front of studio staff and instructors were all so professional and very friendly. :) Definitely made me feel welcomed(and not judged!) for it having been my first time at a studio. Super clean facility and spacious restrooms/locker rooms!

I finally found a class/gym that makes me want to come back. Instructors are fun, enthusiastic, and supportive. I especially love Julie’s classes. The best part is the classes are never full!!! That is one of the reasons I quit going to the big gyms– the chaos of going after work would annoy me so much I didn’t want to go. I was very intimidated the first time I walked in, thinking they would make me run or go at a pace I wasn’t comfortable with. But this class is designed to help you work up to your goals– you don’t have to start out as a hero. I was told that the morning classes at this location fill up quickly; I come after work and have not had an issue yet. Pros: 1) it’s dark, you don’t get that«everyone’s checking everyone out» feeling 2) the music is great and LOUD! 3) great equipment and instructors 4) the facility is beautiful Cons: 1) the cost– this place is crazy expensive. As another reviewer stated it is $ 25 a class for drop in and gets slightly cheaper if you buy packages. I love coming here– I am trying out a full month of only Shred and then will add it back in as part of my ClassPass workout regimine.

Absolutely love this location. Instructors are great and the classes are never full which is nice! Very well kept and workout is my favorite anywhere — hence why I pay a ridiculous amount for monthly unlimited!

Totally agree with the other reviews here. Shred is an AMAZING workout. There’s truly nothing like it! I moved to Hinsdale a year ago and looked all over for something similar(I’d been shredding in the city and while I knew a Shred was coming to Hinsdale, it was going to be 6 – 10 months until it opened.) There was nothing. After trying classes everywhere and facilities that sounded similar to Shred(Orange Theory, anyone?), I basically just decided to get slightly chubby until they finally opened Shred 415 out here. Really. Because I knew once I started shredding, I’d get back in shape FAST. You will ALWAYS get a great workout at Shred. All you have to do is show up ready to be drenched in your own sweat. They have water. They have towels. They have a beautiful facility. And showers. And CHILDCARE. Add an amazing workout that burns more calories than you could DREAM of burning anywhere else and sweet/funny/hard core instructors and you have WORKOUTHEAVEN. My husband and I are addicted. I don’t think we can ever work out anywhere else!

First class for me last night and I have to admit –loved this workout. Here is why– 1. Motivating, friendly, knowledgable instructor(I had Julie) and the front desk woman was very welcoming and explained things for me before class too 2. The workout – you do four 15 min segments, alternating between treadmill and floor(I think they call it your deck). The treadmill can be so boring when you are doing it at the gym. I try to do intervals on my own but this environment made me less bored and motivated to push harder. I guess it’s the adrenaline of being in the room with others and having the trainer yell out different orders. It definitely wasn’t boring. At the same time, it was manageable. Whether you walk, jog or run – you can go at your pace and adjust the trainer’s instructions to accommodate your needs. The deck –15 min of varying moves-squats, lunges, push-ups, abs, etc. again –variety and you can modify as you need by using weights or not etc. By the end, you did 30 min of high intensity intervals at the deck AND30 min on the treadmill. I was dripping sweat but yet didn’t feel like I was overdoing it. 3. The facility-clean, nice, nice locker room and convenient. 4. Location-easy access right on Ogden ave. for me, it’s convenient between my home and job so I can take a class after work. I want to try a morning class but we will see. 5. Price – it’s pricier than a standard gym but it’s basically like having a personal trainer for an hour in which case it is cheaper. All in all – depends on what you are looking for. This is an hour long cardio and strength session. If you prefer to put on headphones and be alone on a treadmill, then this class isn’t for you. I like variety and have done Barre classes, and have started yoga but I will add this into the mix to help my cardio

You’ve seen that commercial with the two girls running next to each other on the treadmill, and they get so competitive that one ends up falling off? That’s part of the motivating force behind Shred. Everyone is working out hard, and it makes you want to go faster on the treadmill as well. BEST workout ever! I can’t tell you how much I love and crave this workout. In only three weeks my running time has improved greatly and I’ve seen results in my abs — the hardest place to carve once you get a bit, ahem, older. They have several wildly popular locations in the city already, and I’m thrilled they are now in Hinsdale. The workouts vary from class to class, but the basic structure is that half the class starts on the treadmill, and half on the floor. You alternate every 15 minutes, so during the hour class, you run 30 minutes total and do 30 minutes of floor work. It’s a fast paced, no talking, no breaks workout — which is exactly what we need to push through our plateaus. It’s not the kind of workout you do every day — though you could. For me, two to three times per week is perfect, interspersed with my hot vinyasa yoga. I’ve even shredded in the morning and did yoga in the evening. The yoga helps to stretch out those tight muscles from running and such. The instructors are all very high quality, but I have to say that I absolutely love Jeremy. I shouldn’t even say this, because already I am waitlisted for his class next week, so consider this to be a very generous tip. He is incredibly motivating, keeps track of the class competently, instructs people on bad form, and I get the sense he is also a yogi as well, because I’ve noticed some yoga-based movements in the floor work. I came to Shred because I need that extra push. I was a trainer for 20 years, I work out daily, so I am motivated and self disciplined. But let’s face it — even though I do interval running by myself, it’s really hard to push yourself to go a bit faster, a bit harder, and a bit longer. The changes, though, happen when you enter that intense zone. Jeremy has a way of really saying the right things at the right time, like when it’s almost the end of your treadmill workout and he motivates you to go all out. However, since I’ve been coming regularly, I can easily say that all of the instructors at Shred are fabulous! Though some of the classes have waiting lists, like on Saturdays, there are often classes in the morning or early afternoon that I have been able to sign up for at the last minute. Which is wonderful! Get your butt over to these classes — you’ll get a great workout, I promise. In fact, I just did the Butt and Legs class with killer instructor Marzena! One hour of incline running plus a ton of legs — kicking, lunging, squatting, jumping — all I can say is that my legs and bootie were DYING after class. In fact, I am sure if I did her class every week you’d be able to bounce a quarter off my bootie soon, LOL. The treadmills are all high quality, Woodways — very easy on your joints. Each class is different. You might do sprinting intervals during one 15 minute series, and do incline sprints the next. We started at a 10 incline this morning and worked our way down the mountain. Floor work is all fast paced with no breaks, and consists of burpees, step ups, jump ups, rows and presses with weights, pilates abs, etc. It’s all hard core. You leave here with sweat dripping down your body and feeling like a warrior. The only disadvantages are that the classes are expensive($ 25 per class) and you must book ahead of time and have to cancel within 12 hours of your class, otherwise you get charged for it. As I mentioned, I have booked out the classes I like three weeks in advance to get a spot, and they just opened in mid-June. At the city locations, I hear the popular classes book out up to two months in advance. I’m seriously hoping it doesn’t get that bad in Hinsdale. However, the workout gets results, and you can tailor it to your own speed. If you are a slow runner, a walker, or a fast runner, you can still get what you want out of the workout.
