No one in Chicago is better than James. He’s amazing. My hair looks beautiful and natural and I never leave unhappy. I highly recommend him.

I’ve been going to Janet for years. She’s done my eye brow waxing and color for years. I always love my out come. She is Great !! Also buy my facial products from her and really like them .
About 4 years ago I started with James. My hair was damaged from all the Bleech from foiling every 3 months .
Last night I was able to get a perm. Something easy for me as I watch my four grandchildren 5 days. I haven’t been able to wash it yet as have to wait 48 hours. I love it already, just what I wanted. Totally truest James and whatever he uses on my hair. My hair is heathy and I’ve probably wanted that all my life. Thank-​you James

I went in for a haircut, color & blow dry with James, and eyebrow wax & tint with Janet. James updated my hair style and it looks better than ever! The color is perfect and looks very natural. My eyebrows are perfect once again! Highly recommend.

James is one of the most talented, and articulte hair dressers I have ever worked with! He is very precise in cutting, coloring, styling, and thinking of the long term health of my hair! Recently, he had helped me in several visits, to color my hair to a gorgeous, shiney, healthy, blonde. My hair has been healthy, and the growth of my latest cut frames my features so approproately. I’ve been planning on growing my hair out to eventually donate, but needed a hair cut to even things out after a couple botched cuts in the past. Rob worked wonders, he cleaned up my layers and my hair looks so much healthier overall. I cannot wait to go back in a few months for him to chop off the long hair in favor of something short and festive!

I was just back in the other day and wow … I don’t think I would ever want to go anywhere else to get my hair done! First, James is brilliant: he told me I wouldn’t have to come in until 5 months, and sure enough that was correct! My hair grew out beautifully and seemed to be a lot healthier.
As for the cut this time — I could not be happier, I felt like a hair model walking out. Not too mention the awesome head massage from a newer guy who shampooed me :) The receptionist was so sweet and accommodating as well. James has a really good thing going on here. He is personable and takes his job seriously. You feel like family when you walk in and he won’t steer you the wrong way. His vision is dead on with styling, dying and cutting hair and I love it!

Janet gives the most wonderful, relaxing & effective facials!!! She is sweet, professional & makes you feel so comfortable while she uses her experience to give you an amazing facial… with great results! The atmosphere of the salon is positive & soothing. Everyone is delightful! If you’d like to treat yourself to a wonderful experience, this is the place to go!

I love having Janet shape my eyebrows. She has a great eye and is gentle with her procedure. The room is very calming as well.

If you’re going anywhere else, you’re missing out. I have been a customer of James literally all my life. I recently went abroad for a year and had my hair cut+colored at the famous Trevor Sorbie Covent Garden salon. The Art Director did my cut, and while she did a great job, it was still nothing compared to what James can do. I have seen him work miracles on the most processed, damaged hair, sending clients out looking like they have virgin hair. Over a year and a half period, James put multiple colors in my hair and bleached parts several times. By all standards, my hair should be dry and falling out. But, James’ products choices and techniques mean my hair always stayed amazingly healthy – more so than my friends who have never so much as dyed their hair once. Also, James is a simply wonderful person. His wife Janet is a gem as well – she does the most relaxing facials, and is an all-​around talented esthetician. The salon also offers mani/​pedis and some specialized esthetic services.
I should also note that James knows exactly what will look good on which people. I’ve discussed a few hair colors/​cuts with him that he quickly talked me out of because he knew they wouldn’t look good (thank the gods of hair for this man). He never sends anyone out of his salon looking any less than their best. I can honestly say I don’t know what I will do when I am out of college and (probably) will have to find a new hairdresser. There’s no one out there who can compare.

The last time I had short hair was over a decade ago. The short haircut was so bad that I feared ever going short again. Nevertheless, the idea of a short haircut came to my mind over the last year or so. I kept both thinking about it and pushing it aside afraid of having a bad hair cut experience yet again. A friend of mine recently recommended James to me and spoke wonders about him. The decision was made then, I would attempt a short haircut again! I went to James about three weeks ago and I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience and haircut.
The experience: James is a professional, knowledgeable, and wonderful individual. He took the time to listen and look over the ideas I had for the haircut I wanted. He summarized what he was going to do with my hair before even getting started with the cut, just to make sure we were on the same page.
The haircut: James cut about ²⁄₃ of my hair. I went from long to short and LOVED IT. The cut he did is fun, refreshing, and summery like. I have wavy hair and the cut matched it perfectly. It also needs little ‘maintenance’. I can pull it back or leave down and be comfortable with both.
If you are looking for something different, fun, but reliable then you should totally go to James. You will have nothing but positive things to say about it.

James spent a lot of time with me and gave me a good cut. However, the overall aesthetics of this salon (music and décor) did not appeal to me, and I disliked the way my hair was styled when I left the salon. Cut and style was a steep $ 85, which is a long way «from $ 45,» which is the price listed on the website for «precision sculpting.»

James is a genius! I have been going to him for almost a year now and he ALWAYS makes my hair look fabulous. I have naturally curly hair which other stylists almost always get wrong, but James knows exactly what to do without me having to tell him. I am so glad I found him! Best haircut you will ever get, hands down! He is a master of his craft!

Best haircut I ever got. I have been to many hair salons but James is a wizzard with the scissors! I have curly, pain in the butt hair and James knows how to «speak to it». He takes his time, cuts literaly piece by piece, and I am good to go. No hype, no banter, just a damn great haircut.
