A Stitch In Time

Jeanne made a beautiful Christening gown out of my wedding dress for my daughter. Jeanne had great ideas and suggestions and made the process very easy. Jeanne seems to do it all: during my appointments, folks would come in for alterations from anything to pants to prom dresses.

Jeanne created a beautiful christening gown for my son’s baptism from my wedding dress. She was super helpful in navigating the process from pattern and notions thru the measurements and fitting. I really appreciated her working with me to enhance the gown in certain ways to customize it and/​or incorporate features from my dress that the pattern wouldn’t have otherwise accommodated. She was patient and meticulous in ensuring that all fit a growing baby and the end result was breathtaking. A family heirloom in the making! I was able to display his gown after the baptism and all in attendance were in awe of the craftsmanship.

I consider Jeanne my second wife, andI call her that! I have ben going to her for years for such itms as buttons, fitting pants, and anything that demands tailoring skills. I cannot thread a needle. I couldn’t recommend any one higher than Jeanne. And she is a wonderful personalty to boot! Greg Hall

Jeanne is fabulous! I went to see her last year after a bit of internet research for a good tailor on the south shore — she gets great reviews! I brought her a bridesmaid dress that was too big and had awkward straps, and she took it in and fixed the straps for me. I was very pleased, and so when it came time for me to get my own wedding dress, I called her up for my measurements. She doesn’t usually alter wedding gowns, but because my dress was just a simple silk chiffon, she said she would hem it for me once it arrived from the designer. My only negative experience was that about a week before she promised me my dress would be ready, she called and said she wasn’t sure when she had promised to have it ready, and that she was going to be away on vacation, and therefore I wouldn’t get it back until almost 4 weeks later than expected. Being the laid-​back bride that I was, I said no problem, because I had left plenty of time before the wedding, and i felt pretty confident about Jeanne. I got my dress back in plenty of time, and it fit fabulously — she even sewed my corset into the dress for me while I waited :)
She also recently started taking in monogram orders, which means I will be giving her even more business! Check her out, you will not be sorry!

I went here to get some bridesmaid’s dresses aletered this summer. Jeanne was FANTASTIC– she did a marvelous job on the first dress, and was completely honest with me about the second dress. She said that although it was a bit long, it looked fine the way it was, and that there was no need to spend money on alterations. Can’t beat that kind of honesty!

You can spend all the money in the world to have a kick-​ass wardrobe, but if your clothes don’t fit well you might as well forget about it. Looking pulled together and chic has a lot to do with proper fit. I have been going to see Jeanne at A Stitch In Time for years. She and her assistant are great at alterations. Jeanne takes the time to make sure your clothes fit as they should. She is also a pleasure to work with. Don’t cheap out on your look. Go get your clothes fitted properly!
