I suppose if you are a small town family heading north for the weekend and must eat something on the way, you could stop here. Nothing special. They boast about their salad bar, which includes buttery soups and lard-filled bread. All their dressings are house made. I’m vegan, so I stopped here in hopes of making the salad bar work, but really couldn’t eat anything on it. They did have a veggie burger on the menu, but it seemed to be suspect of cheese.

We stopped there for Valentine’s Day. The salad bar remains OK. The Prime Rib Special came out microwaved. Awful. The chicken special was a frozen thing they reheated, at least it had the tastelessness of a frozen entrée.

We always have dinner here when visiting family. My grandpa used to be a regular every night, also. This place has a special spot in my heart! Delicious food, friendly staff, and a nice, cozy atmosphere.

Fast & friendly service, good food that comes out of the kitchen, & delicious soups. Everything is house made, including the breads & condiments. The less stars have to do with the salad bar. The lettuce was limp & wilty, as were manybof the vegetables, & the«fresh» bread was hard as rock. The cold noodle salads were greasy or heavy/too rich. They should change out the vegies & breads more often, maybe put out less on days they know will be slow. I know that they are known for their salad bar, but give their kitchen menu a chance before you judge this place. I’ve had their burger, the club sandwich, & the prime rib sandwich special, & they were all delicious & super filling & fresh tasting. Also, if you come on a day when they are serving their Reuben Soup, or wild rice soup, definitely partake in a cup!

Not clean at all. Very old and you can tell. I would rather eat at the gas station. For the price we expected much better food. It was cold and no taste. Will not be back.

I didn’t feel like our small breakfast of French toast was worth what we paid for it and my husband and I were rubbed the wrong way by our server, but I think a lot of that might have been our regional accents/dialect. I never thought of the Midwest as having so much of a spread that way but she really seemed to have difficulty understanding both of us! Anyway, this place looks like an old school steakhouse that has been partially updated. The food tasted good.

I LOVE this place! Most amazing salad bar ever! So many choices! Soups, breads, cold salads, desserts and more! Amazing wild rice salad!

Quick stop while on the road… Descent American café food and not overpriced. We had the vegetarian options– grilled cheese and veggie burger, both pretty good and yummy handcut fries. They had a salad-soup-bread buffet available as well. Certainly not a gourmet place, but good for what it is!

Heard good things about the place and thought we would try it. Lots of open seats, waited 10 minutes with no service. Left and went to Tobies and was seated immediately. Nuff said.

What a great atmosphere this restaurant has. The all-you-can-eat salad bar included delicious fried fish, mashed potatoes, gravy, a variety of raw and cooked salads, desert, and more for $ 9.95 on a Friday evening. The service was friendly and excellent all around. The have local craft beer, as well.

We spent an evening up in Hinckley and Cassidy’s was a great surprise. We were going to go to the Grand Casino Buffet but after one look at the price and food we turned around. Cassidy’s was very casual and friendly. We sat ourselves immediately. My mom and I ordered the ALLYOUCANEAT salad bar. The soup(Cream of Dill and Chicken Noodle) was so delicious. Salad was fresh and sides weren’t bad. Wild rice bread that came with the salad bar was really good. My cousin ordered salad bar with spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were surprisingly good and fresh. Grandma was pleased with her order of cod and baked potato. Great family type restaurant, we will be back when in the area.

Stopped here on a Sunday morning on our way to Duluth. The place could use some upgrades and when we walked in there were lots of «un-bussed» tables. I’m thinking they were understaffed that day. All in all it was a great value for the breakfast we ordered and very tasty. 1 egg, sausage and pancake for $ 3.85(off the 55+ menu).

Just finished lunch at Cassidy’s and what we had was great. I had the double cheeseburger with added bacon and grilled onions. Yea! Someone that knows how to do a great burger and near perfect grilled onions. Best burger I’ve had in a very long time. Tasty grilled bun that wasn’t one of those airy things that dissolve as you hold your burger. All around great meal. Will return.

I have to say, I went into this restaurant around 8:30 p.m.and was not at all pleased. Their soup was pretty good and the service was pretty good so I thought the food that I ordered was going to be pretty good. But I order the patty melt, and for a fat guy this was really greasy. I never had to dab down my food with a napkin but I really had to do it for this one I wasted six napkins and it was still greasy I just felt sick after eating it and do not get the cheesecake the cheesecake was pretty horrific. Maybe the other people that went to this place went in the afternoon and maybe the food was better but do not go at the end of the night if anything just drive down a little bit more and find a better restaurant.

I will say this now, and for those that go to Hinckley, do NOT pass this up and go to Toby’s. Fresh ingredients, better service, far better prices. Trust me, don’t bother falling into the trap of «having to go to Toby’s or eat fast food» in Hinckley. Head to Cassidy’s, and then thank me after. ;) All that said, one of my favorite phrases… ALLYOUCANEATSALADBAR! Yes, you read that right. Starts at 11am or there abouts. I believe it’s $ 10, and it includes fresh baked breads(the cinnamon bread is incredible), their soups, prepared salads you’d find at a deli but way better, and an entrée of the day item(Friday is fish fry). You cannot go wrong with this deal at all. But, if you’re like me where you love ruffage and still want something hearty because you eat like a fabled creature, their menu is chalked full of good stuff. I opted for a chicken philly sandwich. Very juicy, big chicken boob covered in swiss with peppers and onions on a hoagie roll. Added the salad bar option to this for $ 5 which wasn’t bad at all, all things considered. They definitely don’t skimp you on the peppers and onions as those were over flowing, which is great to see. Cheese had a solid bite, and the seasoning on the chicken was solid. I did sneak a bite of my mom’s patty melt when she went up to the salad bar. Lets just say that was delicious as well. Very good crust to the patty, the onions and cheese were gooey perfection and the toast was a solid Texas toast style bread, can’t beat that. The only thing that holds this back from a 5 is a couple of items on the salad bar were clearly left outs from the previous day, which I get. But, it’s common for almost all salad bars I guess.

unjustifiably low avg. rating. show some respect. cassidy’s is a living museum. is it the best food in the world? no. but, it is the only cassidy’s in the world. nothing ever changes here. cassidy’s is lost in time. i’d expect to see low reviews from the californians(they don’t understand anything with gravy or without avocado.) i do not expect such abject judgment from the natives. anyway, if you’re a rookie to the north shore journey and cassidy’s, then you should know the basics. don’t order off the menu. get the salad bar. you’ll find everything you need in there. they even have pickled herring in the salad bar. i won’t eat it, but for some odd reason i like that it’s there.

Back for the pickled herring and Swedish rye bread. Pickled herring at the salad bar!!! Pickled herring at the salad bar has always made this a great place to stop.

Normally, I’d probably give this place 3 stars but we were so delightfully surprised by the gluten-free buns — they were excellent. Plus, gluten free cheesecake! Simple, old-fashioned favorites — nothing fancy here but pretty decent quality and«real» food. Sandwiches, burgers, home style dinners. Fries were great!

Cassidy’s you rock! We left Tobies after having been seated and waiting over 10 minutes to be acknowledged. Came here instead. We were seated, greeted, beveraged, and order taken in 5 minutes. Food appeared within less than 10, and we were back on the road in just over 30. …and I have to say that my Big Breakfast kicked ass and was inexpensive to boot! Heck yeah I’ll be back!

I was not expecting much, but I will certainly be going back for more! Everything was homemade, the soup was fantastic, bread was great and butter was whipped. The rest of my party had the fish sandwich and it looked amazing, no one wanted to share! Their potato salads and pasta salads and chicken wild rice salad were also very good. I say, well done!
