The food was pretty good. I got shrimp and grits and it was ok. The hostess was rude and the waitress not much better. Which actually made me want to leave before we even sat down. Nothing special. The atmosphere was neat but i still say go to the Old Oyster Factory! Hands down the best by far

First time visiting the restaurant when we first walked on not greeted by the big hair lady but gave a pass. The waitress Megan added more to our bill and was a little rude we decided spoke to manger about the bill took care of the charges with much attitude. My king crab wasn’t hot but I ate it as I don’t like sending food back not sure what more would have happened last visit for me.

Lunched here with the family yesterday. We’ve eaten at the Harbor Town location multiple times but this was our first visit to this location. We enjoyed delicious hush puppies, fried shrimp, oysters, flounder, cod and clams. This is a casual seafood spot, nothing fancy, but everything was delicious. Five meals and no complaints. The she crab soup was full of crab meat. I never leave Hilton Head without a cup of she crab and this did not disappoint! Our waitress was great and we also enjoyed watching the eel in the large fish tank.

Excellent oysters on the halfshell. The broiled seafood combo was delicious. We enjoyed a view of the salt marsh along the creek.

In Hilton Headed Island visiting for the first time from New Jersey. I wasn’t expecting much but had a taste for seafood so I found this place in Unilocal and visitors literature. It was a great experience! Service was excellent and food was hot, fresh, fast and most of all delicious. Definitely will re-visit next time we are in town.

First time in Hilton Head and we were recommended by a close friend to try The Crazy Crab. Walking up the overall atmosphere is really neat. Inside seating is strange to me, kind of dark and dim. The outside seating was my initial preference until I smelled something strange… cats. I am not opposed to cats but you could smell cat urine while eating which was really kind of nasty. Apparently from what the waiter told me, they have about 5 stray cats that live on the property. If you can get that smell out of your mind, the food was really good. I got the boiled seafood platter which was nice. My boyfriend got the crab legs which were delicious, I ate half his plate in the end and he ate mine. The hush puppies were yum and the price isn’t too much. Would likely come back but maybe sit in the bar area to avoid the cat pee smell.

We came here on a Sunday afternoon, and the crowds were really low. We were expecting to get poor food, but we ended up getting excellent seafood, the best seafood place out of three that we tried over the weekend. We wanted to sit outside and stare at the marshes, but the sun was hitting the table and was a bit warmer than we wanted, so they moved us next to the huge fish tank so the kids could stare at Nemo, Dorey, and the other lovely fish. Our party of four adults and two kids ordered and shared the crab cake benedict, the broiled seafood platter, the shrimp and grits, the blackened mahi mahi, and a kids fried fish and kids fried shrimp. The crab cake benedict was delicious with lots of crab, a bowl of cheesy grits, and three crisp fried green tomatoes. The broiled seafood platter had fresh flounder that was perfectly done with no foul taste, huge scallops, fresh shrimp, and a great tasting deviled crab. The shrimp and grits are not as good as Lowcountry Backyard’s famous shrimp and grits, but the shrimp were larger here. The blackened mahi mahi was done perfectly, though the server accidentally gave us the fried fish dish and had to take it back. The kids’ fried fish had one large fried fish and lots of fried shrimp and french fries on their plate. Overall, we were satisfied with the freshness and taste of every dish at this restaurant. We did’t know why it wasn’t more crowded, but we were impressed. We’ll be back to this place.

Our waiting was incredible, super friendly! Loved the food! Beautiful view, say in the deck waiting in hurricane Joaquin to show up

Great place off the island on Jarvis creek! We had the lobster, crab legs and salmon all were very good and cooked well. Server was very nice and attentive. We would recommend this place for locals or tourists. We sat outside and the evening was perfect. We prefer this one over the sea pines location. Will be back

My husband, our daughter, and I always make a point of stopping for a meal on our way home when we visit HHI. We have never been disappointed with the food; however, our last stop this past June was only deserving of four stars due to our less-than-interested waiter. He didn’t seem very excited to be working, and it showed. He was super slow, less than enthusiastic, and seemed put upon when we asked for refills, to-go boxes, etc. If this had been our first visit, I’d be more than likely heading to eat at the Sea Shack. I would recommend it, though, as every other meal there has been enjoyable.

The view from the deck is wonderful. Be aware that there are several cats who call this restaurant home. They do not bother you or meow, but if you are allergic … The service was good. My waiter was very attentive. The food was also good. I tried the shrimp and grits. The grits were very creamy and filling. You get 7 large shrimp with the tail still on them. The only issue I had was the menu stated they were served with spinach and portabella mushrooms. I did not see any spinach and just a few very small pieces of mushrooms. They have an outdoor sand play area for the kids.

If I could do two and a half stars, I would. It’s not because the food is particularly awful or something, it’s just not anything special, and this place absolutely does not stand out in my mind against all the other amazing eats at one’s disposal in HHI. I came with my boyfriend, really craving that beachy seafood shack dining experience that particular night. I saw reviews and decided to take a chance anyways because the pictures of the view looked spectacular. When we pulled in, we were definitely impressed with the beautiful sights surrounding the restaurant. There are big beautiful trees hanging everywhere, a little canoe shack, a fantastic sweeping view of the marsh plain with it’s canal that provides boat access, and a little family of mangy, yet adorable and sweet grey outside cats. When we got inside, the décor was cute, IMO. They have a giant fish tank. The staff was not overly friendly, but we were seated immediately. Our waitress was pretty nice, although a little spacey. The fountain drinks we got tasted awful. Idk if the water in this area is just gross or what. We received a complimentary hush puppy basket with two rolls and cinnamon butter. That was just okay. I ordered the broiled seafood platter. It came with baked potato, scallops, shrimp, flounder, one crab cake and I had the vegetable of the day as well, which were sauteed green beans. My boyfriend had the stuffed flounder with rice and corn on the cob. My meal was mediocre. I wasn’t impressed. The crab cake was moist… but not on a good way. It was just a wet blob on the plate. The scallops were cooked very well and I liked those. Nothing was awful, everything was edible, just not anything great. Everything on my plate had the same crusty breadcrumb seasoning on top, so very one note flavor. My boyfriends flounder looked good, he loved the corn, and he just liked it too. Another annoying thing, we sat inside and they put us right by the door to the outside dining areas, and every time a waiter would come or go, which was every 5 minutes, sometimes twice, the door would slam hard and vibrate our whole table. It was really annoying to say the least. Overall, come for the view if you must come! Food isn’t spectacular. Definitely overpriced.

The server was great. She kept our glasses full and was very pleasant. The food was very tasty. I had the broiled seafood platter and my husband had the fried. I cleaned my plate. Their hush puppies with cinnamon butter were delicious as well. Would come back if I lived in the area. The view is beautiful as well.

Great food, but we were abandoned by our waitress, Grace. No refills, no courtesy check up and because we were here later in the afternoon,(the end of the lunch rush), the restaurant was nearly empty so we felt the slight was either neglect or intended. We were a little disappointed that the poor service subtracted from our enjoyment of the meal and discussed this with the manager of the restaurant. Unfortunately, she seemed less than concerned with customer satisfaction. We came from a long way away for this celebration, but it was adversely affected by restaurant personnel.

It was OK. The price of the king crab we got was not nearly as big of portion than the one we got at skull Creek boathouse. which we paid less there. Atmosphere was OK, but then again we went there for lunch. I would only go there again if it was my last choice for seafood. Service was good tho.

My husband and I ate here tonight and weren’t entirely impressed. From the start, we encountered a gentlemen outside attempting to sell us time at a resort and other adventures on Hilton Head Island, which was a little unexpected. The biscuits and hush puppies at the beginning were a nice touch to the meal. The appetizer was their special for the night — Thai fried calamari, which was alright. The low country shrimp boil was also okay but just wasn’t very full of flavor and was somewhat bland. The staff was incredibly friendly though, and the price was reasonable — $ 40 for dinner for two.

The Alaskan snow crabs were super duper yummy… but the hush puppies were not my favorite, especially since it was the«rave». We went late before they closed so maybe we got the late night servings… the fried shrimp was delish though… Mac n cheese was ok… maybe if we had had an earlier dish it would’ve been better. The rolls weren’t too great either. :/ I think we will try another local fav next time… we felt it was nothing superb, just ok. But to each his own, I guess ;)

Before our maiden trip to Hilton Head, we polled many friends who’d been before about the best places to eat. Time and time again, I heard that we had to eat at the Crazy Crab. On the last night of our trip, we went. The wait was reasonable, and they had a fun crab race game for the kids to keep them occupied. The setting is perfect. The large windows and wraparound deck overlook the intracoastal waterway, making an ideal setting to watch the sunset. The food was, well, I couldn’t say. As a vegetarian, there aren’t many options on the menu. The hush puppies were scrumptious. I could’ve eaten my weight in those and I should have. The only other thing I could eat was the caprese salad. It was good, but left me wanting more. There are lots of meatless side dishes that could be fashioned into a vegetable plate. I ordered corn on the cob and my children immediately had to have it. The other 8 meat-eating people joining me at dinner had huge platters of food and all said it was good. We had a good time and enjoyed the space. I would go back for a glass of iced tea on the porch with a bucket of fresh hush puppies.
