Way over priced! I can understand a small markup but this place is outrageous! If you can dive the extra 5 minutes to the other liquor store you are better off…

This is small store in the Sea Pines Shopping Center. For their size they have decent selection of neatly arranged products. They have a lot of «moonshine.» Moonshine these days seems to be to whiskey what craft beer is to beer. They offer free tasting throughout the day. Like most stores in Sea Pines, their products are a bit pricey. I’d recommend a visit to those visiting in Sea Pines.

I stopped in with friends and was greeted nicely at the door. We were offered some moonshine samples which we all enjoyed. The owner let us know though that we would need to buy something if we were to sample anything else. I said I would buy something. We picked out a 750 ml firefly caramel moonshine for $ 49.99 and two 50 ml nippers of hot stuff whiskey. The total came to $ 63.59. Now I don’t know much about moonshine but that seemed pretty expensive. Turns out that same moonshine was $ 19.99 at another liqueur store I looked at. Then I thought about the price I saw on the sample moonshines that the owner was giving us, and they too were marked $ 19.99. I realized that the guy ripped me off. Oh well, my mistake. But as a tourist out to try new things, I would either not recommend this store, or just be very careful when you go here to buy something. I do however recommend you go here, get some free samples, and go someplace else to buy your liqueur.

This liquor store has some of the most expensive prices I have ever seen in my life. For example, any 1.75L bourbon was well over $ 50, and most were about $ 70. At first, I thought this was just due to SC’s taxes, but I traveled a little farther to Island Liquors and found that the prices were easily half what was at Sea Pine. Also, I spent about 10 minutes in the store and was not welcomed/acknowledged by a single employee. Altogether, the last three reviewers must have already gotten into their moonshine to ignore the price gouging happening here.

Stopped in when we saw the sign for moonshine tasting. Met the owner and tasted and learned a lot about local moonshining. Bought a barrel and have since made two batches of our own bourbon. Plan to make more for some personalized gift giving. Worth the stop if you like a shot of good whisky now and then.

The wife and husband that own this shop are very, very nice people. We came in for the moonshine tastings. That was a lot of fun and was very tasty. After asking a dozen questions, I walked out with my own barrel. In 30 – 60 days I will have my own Scotch! I’m so excited and can’t wait to start it up! This place is a must go.

Jeff and his wife do a great job. Stop in for Moonshine tastings. Ask for the ‘local special prices’ Open M-Sat 10am-7pm
