My wife wanted fried chicken(not wings, fingers, nor nuggets) and I wanted a *good* burger — not just a burger. This was the only place we could *google” that seemed to offer both with a decent rating. If you want something different(and are not looking for anything usual) then chow daddy’s may be your spot. The burger was okay; nothing to write home about. The chicken was smoked fried chicken. :| It was worth a try and wasn’t bad, but definitely not something we’d order again. The staff was perfect. The ice cream sandwich is their specialty desert. Its humongous and definitely not something you’d want to try to tackle after eating a whole meal. It could serve three. The cookies that made the sandwich were brittle, and the ice cream was hard frozen. So we’re not fans. It’s just not for us. Maybe we’re just too old for new things? Other patrons(it was very crowded with many waiting) seemed to enjoy it. We won’t be back…

All I’m going to say is brussel sprouts and bacon. You won’t want to share. All the other food is super yummy but again… Brussel sprouts!

Whatever you do, don’t order the shrimp tacos. All of my friends and I that ordered shrimp tacos got food poisoning.

They could not have designed a better menu for me. I absolutely loved the Roasted Vegetable Bowl with kale, quinoa, Brussel Sprouts, Sweet Potatoes, Ricotta and a Fried Egg. Avocado on Toast appetizer was fantastic too. As were the Fish Tacos, and our server Mary. Nice casual outside seating. Extremely reasonable prices. So they don’t actually take reservations. Although they took one for us, but then when we arrived at the restaurant, they told us it would be a 30 – 40 minute wait. I’d recommend asking more questions about this policy.

Extremely frustrating experience. Waited at least ten minutes for drinks and even considered getting up and walking. You could tell they seemed short staffed. Two waitresses taking care of the whole dining room and then tables outside… Had to ask for each refill. Restaurant was hot. Walked past the thermostat which read 78 degrees. Food was ok. Two chicken tacos for $ 10 with no sides is pricey. I wanted to like it but the service and pricing fell flat.

All four of us loved our meal. Best fried chicken ever. Arugula salad w grilled salmon was amazing. Shrimp tacos also so good — and customized to be less spicy. Service couldn’t have been better!

Husband and I were on the hunt for BBQ least night. The other restaraunt we wanted to go to was shut so we decided on this one. We looked at the menu online and it seemed interesting enough. When we got there everyone was friendly and the service was great. They had great décor and a beautiful patio. I ordered the southern pulled chicken and he ordered two taco entrees. They won’t let you order tacos a la carte here which I understand but it would still be great if they did. There food was good, not great, and I left feeling a bit like we over payed for what we got. Maybe I should have ordered something else but I felt like the pulled chicken was lacking flavor. I’m not sure we would go back or recommend this restaraunt since there are so many other places to eat on the islands.

Highly recommend! We were a group of 4 vacationers looking for something other than the standard tourist fare and we were not disappointed. The staff was very helpful with choosing drinks, even offering samples from the beer menu. My boyfriend ordered the Vanilla Coke cocktail and it was amazing! You could definitely tell tell that the rum was actually vanilla bean infused and not just vanilla flavored. As far as food, no one had anything bad to say about anything. The two standouts had to be the fried chicken bun and the chicken tacos. I’d get the chicken bun at least 2 more times before I’d try anything else on the menu to be honest. If your looking for something different than the Salty Dog give Chow Daddy’s a try!

Really cool environment. Our server was friendly and helpful. The food was amazing. The bbq sauce had a little kick, not a problem for me. My mom was with us and she hates spicy/hot foods and she loved this place so I wouldn’t be worried about the food being too spicy. We had the homemade chips and avocado for starters – loved it. I had the southern pork bbq open faced sandwich with cornbread – loved it. I think this place is a must-do when visiting Hilton Head!

The food really was good. My wife got a burger and I got the chicken bun. The Chicken bun had great flavor. They smoke the chicken and then fry it and you can tell! The Sauces on it tied it all up so well. The fries were average, they got the job done. We got the cornbread appetizer as well and it was yummy and helped hold us over. But then that leads us to why only 3 stars cuz the food could’ve taken it to 4 if the service had helped it along. We showed up at about 1pm on a Tuesday afternoon and I think they must have sent some kitchen staff home early because we were the first of three table seated at about the same time and we were the last to get our food due to a combination of server/manager/kitchen errors. Yes, all three played their role as our server skipped us in his rounds several times, manager gave our app to another table, and then it took 45 minutes to get entrees. Again, all with next to no one in the restaurant. So that was the bad. Based on other poor reviews it looks like this has happened from time to time. The staff was all very nice, but they just weren’t firing on all cylinders it seemed. So, in summary, if you have a tried and true place to go I would probably take the safe bet. But, if you are feeling daring(or patient), they have a strong star rating for a reason… The food.

I like this place. Service is good. My dinner came out wrong. I ordered a steak bowl and they brought steak tacos. The kitchen quickly adapted and the waitress took responsibility instead of blaming the kitchen. I liked that. Good food. Be careful if you don’t like salt. Ask for low or no salt. The corn bread app and well as the pimento cheese are good. Steak bowl, shrimp tacos were yummy. Check it out, it’s good.

Fast seating at the bar with a super friendly bartender/waiter! My family and I were taking advantage of visiting the area and had been eating straight southern food alllll week. This place looked like southern fusion food. Would definitely return for certain dishes. Fish tacos– Sizable pieces of fish and delicious sauce! Surprisingly filling. Nice break from fried chicken. Green beans — Standard green beans, nothing amazing or bad to say. Chicken bowl — Fried chicken with a little twist with different spicy mayo-like sauce. Comes on top of mashed taters. Corn bread — Underwhelming, thinner than the picture I saw on here previously and not much flavor.

We just had the best fried chicken ever. It was smoked then fried! It was Juicy and tender. It was marinated in the Sriracha sauce but it wasn’t all that spicy, it was bearable. It was out of this world. I got the smashed potatoes instead of the fries and it was awesome to! We will probably be back tomorrow for lunch it was that good!!!

If I could have tried everything I would have– it looked so good. I had the fried chicken bowl– as did the rest of the table and it is perfection. The sriracha aioli was really tasty and the chicken was perfectly cooked. We also had Moscow Mules which are very hard to mess up, I did like how they put mint in it which is not something I see everywhere. Finally, our host and our server, Daniel were spectacular. They gave wonderful service and had that sweet Southern hospitality. I will most definitely go back when I am back in HHI and eat everything else on the menu.

I love off the beaten path spots. This one eluded me through my last couple visits. Found Chow Daddy’s through a bit of luck and great reviews. Actually visited CD’s twice this week. That’s very untypical for us. On the first visit this week, the food was excellent, our waitress Mary was exceptional, but the food took forever to come out of the kitchen. I was almost ready for bed when the entrees arrived. Ha,. Mary was a champion through it all! The constellation, I commented on the time it took for the entrees to arrive. And the CD management team stepped up and responded in a nice way to ensure our satisfaction. That’s what we can’t buy. It’s difficult to find establishments that believe in and stand behind what they sale. That’s what we have at CD’s; Great food and a good experience proven and guaranteed. Don’t even think about it, Just go!!!

Great place. Great food. Small but the food was so good and fresh. The potatoes taste homemade. The fried chicken was amazing. It was so much I had some with my husband there and also took the rest home for US to eat the rest of it later. Ask them what they have for the kids because it’s not on the menu but they do have some things. My kids had chicken fingers and fries as usual but they also had quesildilas for the chicken as well. The chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich is large and we’ll worth it. Great atmosphere. We ate here for lunch. It was only us there and our service was excellent. They also have apple juice, they are in to go cups which is awesome.

As we approached this hidden gem, I along with my guest were confused from the outside building and were questioning the outstanding Unilocal reviews… But don’t let the exterior let it fool you. Once we walked in, we entered the wonderful Chow Daddy’s world. Our waiter was genuinely funny and kept us laughing the entire night. The food was dare I say delectable. I got the vegetable bowl with added chicken. My guest ordered the fish tacos. These dishes did not disappoint. The portions were right on target and flavor was up to par as well. All fresh ingredients too! 10⁄10 would recommend to a friend.

I am inclined to call this a hidden gem since our resort staff did not even mention this place. It is also slightly hidden and we passed it on our first attempt to get there. The service was excellent. Sometimes in the South I find myself constantly bombarded by the waiting staff asking how my food is. I got the Southern Pulled Pork which was excellent and was just the right size. My friend got the Smoked Fried chicken which we both agreed was the best fried Chicken we have ever had! My only complaint is on the menu they boasted about obtaining all their ingredients locally when possible. However, for their chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich they use Breyer’s ice cream when they totally could use Hilton Head Ice Cream. We were too stuffed to go for dessert, but I’m sure this ice cream choice does not impact the overall taste of the dessert. TLDR: highly recommend either the Southern Pulled Pork or the Smoked Fried Chicken.

We stopped here twice on our short visit to Hilton Head, and I am certain we will return. There were so many tasty choices on the menu, we had a hard time deciding what to order! I settled on pork sliders, and my husband had the fish tacos. Both were fantastic! At the end of the meal, we had no time for dessert, but we promised to return the next day. And we did. The next afternoon, we stopped in mid-afternoon for ice cream sandwiches, and they were incredible. We had one of each, and every flavor was exquisite. We ordered them and split each of them four ways. The place had a great bar vibe. Loved the atmosphere, and the service was incredibly friendly and helpful. We are excited to visit again next time we are in town.

I loved the menu and the options at Chow Daddy’s in HHI! I ordered the Spicy Shrimp rice bowl(I love shrimp) and it hit the spot. My friend ordered the Mushroom Toast & Organic egg — and it rocked. If I lived in HHI I could see myself coming to Chow Daddy’s all of the time as the options were plentiful and love the organic concept. It is also a really cute restaurant and atmosphere.
