I was so excited to try a new BBQ place today on my way back to Austin and talk about a disappointment! Walked into the restaurant right around 5pm to find the place empty. Left on the cutting board was a dried out chunk of brisket and some cold sausage. How did I know it was cold, well the not so friendly gentleman dishing up the food served us the meat that must have been sitting out for an hour. When I asked the guy in an attempt to be friendly if they made the sausage he told me in a smug manner that they didn’t make the sausage and they tried to make as little as possible in house to save on money! Long story short that was my one and only visit to this little BBQ joint!

Bbq was good but service was terrible. We stopped by this past weekend on our way home, we even got off the main highway just to stop here, since we had been to their previous location. Felt very uncomfortable and as if i was bothering the workers when asking questions about the food. Unfortunately will not being going back.

We stopped here on out way back from Baylor and were pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly and gave off a «homey» feel. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was delicious. There are plenty of sides to choose from, but I would recommend the fried okra because it’s awesome! I also had a slice of the pecan pie and you should not leave here without trying it. Overall, it was a great place for lunch and you should stop by if you are in the are!

We stopped in needing a dog friendly place. The outside eating area was perfect! Employees were very nice, food was good. Brisket and fries were great and pecan pie was pretty good too! We would eat here again It’s about 6 min drive off I-35 Hillsboro

Great food! Good place to stop for BBQ on your way to Austin from Dallas! The owners were so sweet and gave us samples of everything. I had the smoked turkey and it was AMAZING!!! Highly recommended this place!

Exactly what we were looking for! Driving from Austin to Dallas looking for a quick(non-fast food) place to grab a bite. Found this place on Unilocal & decided to give it a try. Very good brisket & sausage, great sauce & very good sweet tea. Also very good Tx toast. Really couldn’t have asked for more.

OK, 4 stars is a bit generous for the caliber of BBQ we got, but atmosphere and service bumps it up pretty good. Pork ribs were the highlight in terms of BBQ. Good smoky flavor. Brisket was mediocre… mostly due to an inferior cut of beef. Sauce was top notch, and made me forgive the shortcomings of the brisket. Good Mac and cheese. So so coleslaw. Great loaded baked potato and Frito pie. Overall a good Texas BBQ experience and would recommend to travelers looking for the authentic experience you can only get in this state.

Having spent most of my adult life traveling, I have come to enjoy trying the local specialty cuisines. In Texas, it’s BBQ. I’m looking for a brisket that surpasses City BBQ in Columbus Ohio(of all places). So looking for lunch between Dallas and Austin, I was turned on to this place. The restaurant was quaint, clean, and had a very hospitable staff. I ordered the sampler with brisket, pork, and ribs. The ribs and brisket were good. I would eat them again if I were in Town. The pulled pork was flavorful, but the texture was a little tough. The spicy sauce wasn’t really spicy, but when combined wit the regular BBQ sauce the flavor was good. Overall, I had a good meal for around $ 14. It was a little off of I 35, but worth the detour if you want an inexpensive BBQ meal.

Just had the brisket plate with potatoes and baked beans with toast! It was great! Glad they relocated to downtown Hillsboro instead of being out at Abbott still.
