These guys know what they’re doing. Every type of bread I’ve ordered has been wonderful. Our family favorite has bee the honey whole wheat. My only caution would be in regards to their gluten free bread made with rice flour — it’s very, very dense and not the best substitute for most places in which bread is used. Other than that, though, I absolutely recommend this place. Quality and delicious.

The absolute best oatmeal raisin cookies I’ve ever had. So good that I no longer like my homemade recipe. Wish I could make ‘em like that!

A must try! 5⁄5 for taste! 5⁄5 for service! Definitely one of the best bread bakeries we have in Portland! Their breads are just superb! Fresh, delicious, locally made and very less ingredients used. Exactly how it should be! So whenever you go to the store. There are loads of bread samples like Dakota, 5 grain, honey whole wheat, 3 cheese etc. of generous piece of bread you get to eat. Honey butter, garlic and just plain too to top your bread samples. There are samples of cakes and bread puddings on some days too. I have always received good service and I feel great to buy local. They sell one day old breads $ 2 less! Which sells quickly. I recently told them, I was not satisfied with one of their bread flavor which I bought. I told them how I found the taste not what I expected. It was a spelt bread! They happily offered me the bread I was buying for no charge. Every year we see them at Hillsboro farmers market and Orenco Station farmers market! Giving the big chunks of samples which I love and I am excited to eat! I am going to try their sandwich for lunch soon and will continue to buy my bread from them! For the love of bread do try them!

Great Bread and Sandwiches. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try instead of your regular sandwich place. Fresh and Healthy. Have a cookie too, you deserve a treat.

If cost is no object it is hard to beat the garlic cheese ! The treats are outstanding. Again, it’s not cheap but an occasional splurge is pretty nice. Parking can be a challenge as this strip mall is getting busier. With trader joes and Safeway you can stop here and still complete your groceries shopping without moving the car. So go ahead, try something new! You won’t regret it. Carbs are good in moderation.

I’ve been eating yummy carbs from Great Harvest for years. While I understand that it is not inexpensive, I have not minded going there for treats for my office sometimes(the berry scones and cinnamon rolls are very popular birthday requests and I am the birthday fairy). My sweet mom used to ask for their Dakota bread for her birthday(kind of a molassey seedy loaf, big and round) and I was happy to put candles in it for her. My. child likes their salted caramel chocolate chip cookies. Their rolls are great with soup. I’ve had tasty sandwiches from them for lunch occasionally. They are fairly reasonable and come with carrot sticks and a cookie. Recently Ive decided my child and I could eat a little better. we do fairly well but there are places we could improve. One is with bread. The bread I was buying had a lot of ingredients, some unappealing. Gums? Acids? Syrups? Unpronounceable too. Thats always a clue something is not right. It’s bread, people. In the 1930s my German grandpa would bake bread every weekend for his family to consume the following week. They were poor and bakery bread wasnt affordable. So. It took only flour, salt, yeast, some kind of natural sweetner, and water. Thats it. A lot of elbow grease. He did play around with mixing grains. But really who does that any more? Not me. My bread baking thing is for Christmas and Thanksgiving. Maybe. My kitchen aid dough hook looks a touch dusty lately. Great Harvest grinds their own grain for the honey whole wheat bread every day. The ingredient list is short and mirrors grandpa’s . It’s pretty dense but sliced thin-ish. It is especially good with homemade stew. We ate a lot of that last winter. Or now toasted and heaped with avocado and tomato. Give them a try. You might find eating 40 ingredient bread to be a little less appealing after a couple loaves of real bread. We certainly do.

Hands down THEBEST bread in the city. The cinnamon bread is so great. One bite and you feel like you will know what I mean. The sandwiches are also very good and I’m not a sandwich fan but these are made with so much care that you can’t not like them. It’s like home made at a friends house or something. The veggie is my favorite and I’ll spoil it for you and tell you they put pickles on it which is a nice surprise. I go once a week now at least.

I was shopping here yesterday, and saw this bread store. I love good bread, and haven’t been thrilled with what I have been getting from the store lately. As I stepped in, I was greeted and someone quickly offered me a free piece of bread, OMG, I am in love. The bread was fresh, and warm. It is real bread, not that whiffy bread you get from your local store. This is the kind of bread that fills you up. It was wonderful. I took home a loaf of cinnamon chip, and a loaf of Dakota. Guess who will be going back here on regular basis.

I live for Wednesdays. Why because on Wednesdays you get double stamps and they have Woodstock bread. So every wednesday I stop by and get a loaf of woodstock and a loaf of cinnamon chip bread. They give you sample of the bread, and it comes with butter, honey butter, etc. They make sandwiches and I have every intention of getting one soon. Pros include: great bread, wide variety, tasty treats, dog treats cons include: Only so many loafs of specialty bread

Such awesome bread!!! Freshly made everyday, and super amazing loaves of bread. i’ve tried their honey whole wheat, dakota, cheese garlic, and pesto breads. and they are all excellent! They give out free samples of their bread with delicious honey butter. Staff is excellent, friendly and very knowledgeable. Its a bit on the pricey side, but the quality of bread they churn out makes it worth every penny. Top tip: double punch card day is wednesday, 12 punches(or 6 wednesdays) gets you a free loaf! They are a bit of a drive away in Hillsboro, but worth making the drive out there for it(I happen to work closeby so works perfectly)!

I should have gotten the apricot walnut specialty bread instead of the not so very sour, sourdough bread I bought. And at $ 5.75 a loaf, that’s one expensive ‘I could have made a tastier version at home’ lesson. :/

Get in here. This place is fresh and tasty. I really like Panera, but this place was even better in terms of good quality sandwiches(I still like Panera’s salad options better, but this place has better bread and sandwiches). I was dropping off some shirts at the nearby dry cleaner, and needed to grab a quick lunch. We don’t have this bread co where I’m from, so I thought I would give it a whirl, and I’m glad I did. Upon entereing, the friendly staff offer you a sample of their tasty bread with choice of butter or honey butter spread(go for the honey butter… yum). Friendly staff is helpful in choosing the bread to go with your sandwich. I went for the Turkey and cranberry and it was excellent. The italian wedding soup was quite fresh and tasty too. If in the area, I definitely will come back.

I’m a carboholic, so of course I had to check out Great Harvest Bread after seeing all the positive reviews. It also doesn’t hurt that it’s only a few min drive from where I live. A few comments: — Their bread is really dense. I was pretty shocked at how hard it was, because I’m used to judging bread by how light and fluffy it is. — Their bread selection changes daily, but they do have a few staples that are always available. — You can ask them for a sample of any of their breads, and they will hand over a giant slice of bread. I tried the Extreme Cinnamon Swirl and Garlic Cheese, which were both pretty good, but I decided to buy the Cinnamon Chip. The Extreme Cinnamon Swirl was excessively sweet and dense for me and a little messy to eat. It reminds me of a giant cinnamon roll in the shape of a loaf of bread. The Garlic Cheese was also really good, but I’m not a huge fan of garlic. I imagine it would be amazing toasted with oozing melted cheese. I picked the Cinnamon Chip because it’s a perfectly toned down version of the Extreme Cinnamon Swirl. I’m definitely coming back to try out more of their breads. :)
