I was in a rush, so I got the prepared options. General Tso’s, Spicy Basil Chicken, noodles & veggies for under $ 7. The owners were super nice and the food really good.

Asian Kitchen Grill gets compared to Panda Express pretty frequently and I can understand why. If you walk in, the set up is very similar; however, Asian Kitchen Grill has a build your own wok bowl. It does take a little longer since they have to cook everything, but the portions are huge and you get exactly what you want. I normally opt for the express meal option. When you enter, the owner warmly greats you and will offer you samples of their newest creation. They are always excellent. Once you go in often enough, she will even remember what you like and insist you try something new but similar based on that. The favorites I have tried thus far are the kung pao chicken, Sichuan chicken, and spicy basil chicken. All are very flavorful and they seem to rotate some of the entrees but keep the staples you expect to find at this type of dining establishment. I will continue to frequent Asian Kitchen Grill due to the tasty food, reasonable prices, and close proximity to my work. 4 stars.

A great place to grab some quick Chinese food. I really enjoyed the orange chicken but the general tso’s chicken was awesome!!! I like how they made us fresh orange chicken since there wasn’t much left in the warmer. I think this will become our regular quick Chinese food stop since it’s right up the street from where we live.

The food was alright. I got the Mongolian beef stir fry. The noodles and veggies were not bad but the meat was gross. The beef was thick and rubbery and had weird taste to it. The only thing I liked was the pot stickers. You really can’t mess up fried food. ;)

This is a favorite with my kids. I usually buy the $ 5 special for them and get a veggie laden teriyaki chicken bowl for myself($ 6.79). The cooking time is rather slow but the couple who run the restaurant are very sweet and personable.

After two hours of, dinner internet, research I am too hungry to drive the 13 miles, for take out, I had originally planned. My first meal of the Saturday, fall is in the air, just turned the clocks back so seems dark outside and the time is 5 p.m. Unilocal reviews show some favor here, within minutes of my home. Thought I’d try the jumbalya rice, curry noodles and bourbon chicken. My expectations are lowered when I learned the first two items are not available. I ask about applying the free fountain drink coupon(from their website) to a Thai Tea and learn, even if I gladly pay any price difference, that is not allowed.(My order total is $ 26.00 or more and since they aren’t interested in the«bend» I stop at McDonald’s for two Mocha Frappé’s instead of purchasing Thai Tea, or any drinks, here.) Is that a win, for me? Those drinks are addicting, and few seem to know of them. Four punches on the drink card and the fifth is free. Coupon savings satisfied too. The woman answering the phone, has strong accent but works thoroughly with me. I call back to change my order, thinking the changes increase the probability of mistakes upon arrival at home. A bit concerned. Our second telephone conversation we discuss gluten free, rice noodles. They don’t sound too great(fried in oil, no sauce, black pepper). But since she was solidly recommending and took time to tell me ALL of the vegetable choices available with the dish I decided to just«go with» her, thrice suggested, rice noodles, eliminating only onions from the list of vegetables that will be combined with the noodles. As I approach I see the Korean place, opened near the same time, and am reminded of the risk in trying a «new place», particularly if newer than one year. My expectations drop further, hoping we will eat what I bring home. I am breaking my soft rule by visiting before passing the one year test of time. Upon entry, before reaching the register, I am asked, from afar, if I am «Susan, the take out order». Since they already know me I can, less laser focused, acquaint myself with the food spread, prior to reaching the register for payment.(I will consider the Mongolian Wok after seeing the nice display.) The woman behind the counter, toothpick in hand, states«spicy» as she hovers the toothpick over some chicken. Takes me a minute to realize she is suggesting I sample.(Unnecessary, gesture since I already ordered.) I acknowledge liking spicy but her toothpick has moved on to begin offering orange chicken. Then stops at General Tso’s, which I taste and makes me excited about getting food in my stomach. I am realizing that ANY of the choices offered must be tasty because ONE wasn’t being touted. Now, taste buds tempted, I am wanting to get my bourbon chicken home. We were pleasantly surprised at how good, warm, freshly cooked rice noodles with veggies CANBE. A great fall dish, warm and satisfying(unlike the unexciting experiences with plain rice noodles of the past). Is it the thinness of the noodle, the less grease, being made to order, still warm enough to comfort when arrives home? Seems the combination. I will order this again. I started eating this and was in no hurry to get to the entrée. Two orders of bourbon chicken and we were given one small(more than adequate) bourbon dipping sauce.(Couldn’t taste bourbon flavor at all. I have only, ever, noticed bourbon flavor in fine beef dishes. But still good.) Like other reviewers, I can see and taste that dishes are made in small batches, not left to sit in huge warming trays. Next time Panda Express comes up, I’m suggesting heading back to Asian Kitchen, again. Hot and sour soup is often, at this«fast food» type of place, not so great. Surprising, still, I am harboring«no high expectations». The soup was among the best for«fast food» and even beat some others at higher priced restaurants. Not the very best, ever; but good enough to enjoy and look forward to ordering again. The order was in perfect form, not one complaint about the quality or flavor of the food. Next visit, my expectations are set!

Unlike Panda Express’s way of doing business in a very«manufactured» way that hurries customers to choose from their haphazardly prepared food made by someone who just wants a paycheck, Here I got an authentic taste of cheap, and passionately made food that actually cares about their customers. Definitely give it a shot if you’re hungry for asian cuisine.

Dying arts: using an old fashioned phone, long division, unassisted parallel parking, driving a stick shift, customer service. Customer service wasn’t in existence here tonight– and it’s why I didn’t eat here tonight. We arrived at 8:19. The sign on the door says that they close at 9. When we walked in, the restaurant was empty except for one woman behind the counter. She glared at us, glared at the clock and pointed at it. I asked, «you are open until 9, right?» and she replied«we’re closing soon. I was in a bad mood already– long, stressful week, and wasn’t up for it. We walked out without a word. She didn’t try to stop us, or even say something. I’ve never been here before, but I’m quite sure I won’t return. 40 minutes before closing, really? Unbelievable.

So far since I’ve been in the Portland area, this place is the best Chinese we have found. They have a regular buffet style and also a fresh noodle and vegetable«pick your own» stir fry bar! Very good food and the couple that owns the place are very nice, and friendly

It was okay. The Mongolian side didn’t have a large variety of choices, but it had enough to make a decent meal. The prepared side had just 4 meat options & they were also just okay. Nothing bad to say about the place, but nothing to squeal happily about either. Although, I will add that on a summer day that wasn’t too warm outside, I was uncomfortably warm by the time we left. I don’t know if the AC wasn’t working or they just don’t turn it on, but a few fans blowing didn’t help a whole lot.

Filling out your own stir fry noodles and veggies is pretty fantastic, and I dig being able to choose just how much of the spinach noodle/veggie distribution I had, as someone always trying to aim for more protein and veggies than anything else. The«spicy» sauce actually ended up fairly spicy for my taste, too, which is a rarity, so all in all a pretty good trip out; I’ll definitely be coming in again!

Very plain environment. Bourbon chicken and noodles were pretty tasty. Husband chose the wok option and said it was okay. Don’t know that we’ll go again but it wasn’t bad.

I did the stir fry where you pick your vegetables and meat and they cook it up for you. House sauce(medium) was amazing! The food was delicious and it was fairly cheap(big plate of food and drink for under 10 dollars) — only thing I would say as a negative(and thus four stars), is the lack of using real plates /utensils. It was a little difficult to get the plastic fork into a big piece of broccoli!

I never give 5 to this sort of place. It’s excellent. I was greeted on arrival. The lady helped me find what I wanted. She made me a blackened fish with curried rice noodles and asian vegetables. No spices or sauces required. Hot tasty and fresh. $ 7.29 for a huge plate of food. Quiet at 3 in the afternoon. Soft music playing. Brightly lit. Clean. Just do it.

This is an okay place. You have two options: make your own stir fry or choose from the pre-prepared entrée items. There is one vegetable option and about 5 – 7 meats options that, for the most part, look the exact same(battered, fried and covered with colored syrup). I chose the stir-fry option and loaded up a bowl with some of my preferred veggies, asked for tofu and chose amongst 8 – 12 sauce options. My honey went the pre-prepared route and chose two meats and rice. Veggies were not included in this meal so we paid $ 2 extra to get a side of those. They do no warm up the pre-prepared foods so my honey was stuck with a semi-cold plate(yuck!) and my freshly made stir-fry came out about five minutes later. It came with two small pieces of tofu and what appeared to be less veggies than I had originally placed in my bowl… maybe that was my imagination. No brown rice available(boooooooooooo!!!). Nice staff, though!

This is by far the best spot to get a wok bowl in the area. Their veggies are fresh, the meats are perfectly cooked, and the sauces are delicious. It’s my new favorite lunch spot. Great prices also keep me coming back. It’s clear that this is a family run business and that they really care about their restaurant and their customers. I recommend the house spicy sauce as it has the right blend of heat and flavor. I have not tried any of their preprepared options so I can’t comment but they do look tasty. It might look unassuming but this place is definitely a local gem.

This is a new place that opened up a couple of months back next to DSW shoes. I tried this place for lunch one day and picked the Noodle bowl with chicken where you can pick your own veggies and noodles like a Mongolian place and they sauté it in a wok along with a meat and sauce of your choice. I picked the Szechuan sauce expecting it to be spicy, but it was not as spicy and had a hint of sweetness to it. It tasted decent. They also had options for 2-entrée plate like Panda Express where you can pick rice/noodles along with 2 meat entrees.
