Awesome experience! It’s about 7 flights of stairs or so down to reach a beautiful waterfall that you can actually walk behind! It’s a trek to drive to this part of the mountains but it was worth it!

Easy drive from Asheville, NC. Fair amount of parking. Easy walk from parking lot down to the falls. Stairs can get slippery when wet. The drive leading to and from the falls is very curvy. Take your time and enjoy the scenery. Several pull outs allow you to take pictures along the way. Great drive! A real area treasure.

This is an absolute beautiful waterfall. It’s just a short hike from the parking lot, lots of steps and very slippery so wear proper footwear. Unfortunately due to the recent drought there wasn’t as much water as there should of been but it still was amazing to see and walk behind. Love hearing hearing the sound of the waterfall. The fiancé and I highly redonda a trip to this waterfall! It’s breathtaking and the views you’ll see driving there are just as amazing.

* S T U N N I N G * A must do! Access to get behind the falls. I’ve hiked plenty a mile to find a waterfall, and this is by far one of the most incredible, all-senses-satisfying sites I’ve ever seen in NC! About 1.5 hr drive from downtown Asheville. An easy walk(not a hike) on a paved walkway. Ample parking area, out house style toilets at parking area.

Love going here! Have gone many times. Kids love going especially since you get to walk behind the waterfall. Great views, and for those who can’t handle all the stairs there is a viewing area that is wheelchair accessible to see the waterfall.

One of the best waterfalls I’ve been to. There is so much to see from every angle. You can walk down and stand underneath the falls; view it from the sides; or view it from the very top. If you’re driving along the scenic highway through the Highlands, don’t miss the opportunity to stop here!

Beautiful falls with only a 5ish minute walk on a paved trail to the few from the parking lot. If the weather has been good, you can walk on the path all the way behind the falls. Great for kids or if you’re looking for a walk to a waterfall instead of a hike. You can make it a 10 minute visit, or take your camera, take some cool pictures, and sit in the sun on the benches and enjoy the view for much longer. Don’t pass by it without stopping for at least few minutes!

Pure awe… that’s what I felt standing in the presence of this incredible waterfall. We came during heavy rains, so it was at full power. The sound of the rushing water was amazing, you could almost feel it’s strength. You’ll find lots of places to get photog keepsakes including a walk underneath the bluffs as the waterfall cascades off the cliffs above. This type of waterfall would be classified as a ‘plunge’ because it completely looses contact with the bedrock surface. There is also a grotto-like cave just below the falls that makes for an interesting backdrop. Dry Falls is located in Highland, North Carolina off Hwy 64. It is one of several waterfalls along the Cullasaja River who’s water is supplied by lakes and streams originating from mountain watershed on the western side of the Eastern Continental Divide. THEVERDICT If you find yourself encouraged to visit, this is an easy day-trip from Atlanta. It’s less than 2 hours from the Mall of Georgia and directions are simple: Take I-985 north towards the Georgia/NC border. About a mile past the Dillard House sign turn right on Hwy 106⁄246 and follow that about 14 miles to US-64. Turn left and the Dry Falls parking area will be approximately 3.2 miles away on your left. Along the way you could also stop to discover Toccoa Falls(another easy hike) or the nearby Bridal Veil Falls. All these falls have virtually no hiking involved. Toccoa Falls —

There are many fantastic waterfalls in North Carolina but Dry Falls is my personal fave. I’d say it’s too good to be true — a picturesque falls that you can walk behind, flowing massive amounts of water at LOUD volume, all within a couple of minutes’ walk down a paved path from a decent-sized parking lot that even has bathrooms! And did I mention that it’s in the midst of a gorgeous forest scene with awesome mountain views and still more waterfalls? But if I say«too good to be true», it implies that there’s some downside to all of the promised features. But I can’t think of a single one… thinking…well, you can’t live at Dry Falls. You have to leave at some point. I guess that’s the downside. But if you can come to terms with that, this is well worth the quick diversion from the Atlanta-Asheville route. Make sure you’re factoring in the smaller scale Bridal Veil Falls and, if you are the intrepid type, Cullasaja Falls. You get all that nature offers here — beauty but with a powerful punch.
