Have gone there a few times with my husband. Very low key atmosphere but we found it to be simple and enjoyed the friendly waitress/bartender she did both! The drinks are strong and very reasonable in price not water downed like other establishments. Food was good and also priced reasonable. It is an older establishment and some may think it is dark with older furnishings but we felt it was cleaned and we were happy and pleased with the service and atmosphere. We are more casual in our dining and it has a fun atmosphere.

This is a little rundown restaurant/bar that was at one time associated with the Tartan of Redlands. Having been to the Redlands one, it was disappointing to visit this one. Walking in, it immediately feels like a time warp, but not in a positive way. There is a smoky/musty smell and the place has not been freshened up in a long time. The staff is the one thing I could see that was outstanding. They were very attentive and friendly. My drink was kept filled, which I can’t say for the Redlands location. But the food was another disappointment. The meatloaf was strange, the green beans seemingly from a can and the mashed potatoes and gravy bland. The cheeseburger was fine, but the fries were far inferior to the onion rings, which was probably the best food for the whole visit. The appetizer sampler platter was OK, and although I liked the simple garden salad, many people in my group were turned off by the beets. The price is low compared to many sit down restaurants, but you get what you pay for. I will emphasize that I was blown away by the service, but everything else makes me resist paying a return visit. Unless I want a drink.

I really love this place. The waitresses are so helpful and knowledgable. It is such a friendly place to eat. The Monday night taco’s and tostada’s all for a $ 1 are really good. Hard or soft shell. They have tostada’s with both beans and meat for $ 2. The taco salad is not for the light eater. It comes with a large portion of ground beef and beans. The shell is still warm when they serve it.

Contrary to what most folks think, this is NOT a bar! Instead, it’s a restaurant to enjoy with your whole family or friends(with a full bar, like AppleBee’s, but better). Very kid friendly. It’s a true Highland institution! You’d never guess from the outside appearance, but this place is quite nice inside. Straight-forward menu, great daily specials, fire pit, accommodating staff, friendly patrons and clean environment. The lunch specials are a great deal. Monday night tacos are $ 1, but look and taste as if they cost $ 2. Live music a few nights each week. Sadly, no draft beers and very few local choices — hope to see this improve. Lots of parking in front and back. They can accommodate large groups as well. Safe, clean and welcoming environment. Give this place a shot, it’s much better than you probably think.

The wait staff is down home friendly, and some of the best people ever. My husband and I come here often instead of the Tartan in Redlands, even though we live in Redlands. The hamburger is the best I’ve ever had. You won’t be disappointed!

This place has BOMB burgers! Lunch and dinner you get the same awesomeness I happen to love the onion rings with that. They have a heavy hand which is rare nowadays and cold beer in bottle. Mondays they have 1 taocs etc and gret weekend deals on steak and lobster. Service is super friendly. Lots of tv and the owner loves football & sports are usually on.

An easy place to eat. This place could anywhere in the country… Kansas, Michigan, Florida… It’s a nice place to have a sane chat with family or friends for dinner.

I go here for lunch quite often. Love the Tartan cheese burger. The white potato salad is the best though. Instead of the typical yellow potato salad with a mustard or pickle flavor, they make a white creamy garlic flavored potato salad that is great. Friendly, prompt service.

Located in a old strip mall in the older part of Highland the Tartan is a hidden treat. The décor is a throw back to the old 60’s neighborhood tavern. This is almost an old time locals only kind of place. Dimly lit but cozy. The food is respectable and consistent, but not exceptional. Service is friendly and efficient. Beer sold in bottles only so don’t expect to find the latest posh«in» brews. This is not a «hip» hot spot for twenty-somethings, it’s for us more mature folks. You go to the Tartan to meet friends for a drink, a bite to eat, and conversation.
