Street tacos, late night, why not? This joint has your typical selection of tacos, lengua was good, asada not so much. I am betting cachete will be good. Staff have enormous patience given their clientele. There are benches, so come on by and have a taco or two.

I’ve been going to El Piqué for a couple of years now. It is still my favorite taco truck amongst the many popping up on York Blvd. The truck is parked in the car wash and there is always street parking. There is one bench to eat on, but you can always sit on the curb. The food is delicious! The meat is always juicy. I haven’t tried any exotic meats, but just the typical asada, chicken, and carnitas. I’ve tried the tacos, burritos, tortas, quesadillas. practically the menu. Prices have went up and they charge for extra salsa now :(It is all around the same price as other trucks on York.

Food: 2.5 stars Parking: Street only Seating: No seats/tables available, must eat standing up Disappointed to say, I did not love the tacos. The al pastor(BBQ pork) tacos were probably my favorite here. The sauce was good but not spicy enough. Meat was a little on the dry side. Second favorite would be the asada tacos, but they were definitely dryyyy. The lengua(tongue) and cabeza(head) were too bland for my taste; the green salsa used was not that good. The cabeza was really tender though! Just not enough flavor. The horchata came in a plastic bottle, and thankfully tasted delicious. Tacos are only $ 1.25, so I’m glad at least I didn’t break my bank on some mediocre tacos. Desire to return: Not really thinking of coming back, ever(unless for some reason, out of convenience).

I stopped by on a whim on the way back from running some errands… felt like some tacos. No one in line, but its always there and open late. I thought the tacos were delicious… got 4 asada for a $ 5 .good juicy meat, very flavorful, some fat but not too fatty, authentic… none of this hipster fusion crap… just good olé asada with the right amount of red sauce, chopped onion and cilantro. Washed it down with a Mexican coke which they sell. If i was to compare it with other places in the hood like el huarache… i gotta say I give El Piqué the edge… more savory, juicy asada at this little truck… faster and easier to park too.

It’s the truck down the street, but I’m glad it’s so good that I don’t have to go farther than that. My go to is the veg burrito.

$ 5 gets you a vegetarian burrito. Rice, beans, avocado, white cheese, with salsa on the side. Not mind-blowing. Not disgusting. Just an edible taco truck burrito. They are open late on Sunday night when all the resteraunts are closed… And when one refuses to go to fast food(like me)

Burritos are good. Tacos are good, if tiny. Tortas are terrible. Only place I ever had a tortas at(my ‘pollo taco’ was misinterpreted to be a ‘pollo tortas’). the bread was terrible and I threw it out after two bites. Other than that, good late night spot to eat at after you’ve had a couple drinks at the bar

Try the red salsa. Good for veg & vegans. I rec veggie burrito or veggie tacos. Extra red salsa.

tried several meats. all of them were fine. given the taco options in the area(and on the street) I don’t think I’d come back. no complaints though, just seemed like your run of the mill truck.

OK, serviceable tacos. But not as good as the majority of other trucks along the York corridor. Bonus points if you like to watch people fight in the parking lot this place shares with a you-squirt car wash.

I just love their carne asada tacos with lots of onions, celantros and red salsa!

Of all the taco trucks that line York at night, El Piqué stands out mainly because it occupies a car wash that’s closed at night. Average price. Average selection. Average quality. Average all around. For $ 1.25 per taco, it’s not a bad deal, but I really think that the rest of those taco trucks on York Ave trump El PIque in every category — selection, flavor, texture, salsas, etc. Not bad at all, but nothing screams out awesome — just A-OK.

El Piqué is parked right in front of a self-service car wash and is literally a couple of blocks away from where I live. A few steps away is the beloved La Estrella taco truck and I’m not sure why El Piqué is in such close proximity to it. Clearly they did not perform their competitive intelligence but what do I know? They must be doing something right since they are there everyday. Anyway, I was starving one weekday afternoon and walked over here for some tacos. «Tacos al pastor times dos… y un quesadilla por favor. Gracias.» Took these babies home and went to town. The tacos al pastor was flavorful. Finely chopped meat with just enough spicy to give it a kick. Not quite as good as La Estrella, but it was still good. The quesadilla was pretty good too albeit on the greasy side. Prices are dirt cheap. At prices for $ 1.25 per taco you have no excuse going to Taco Smell. NONE whatsoever! Solid taco truck.

I had lunch today at El Piqué and La Estrella(a competing truck 1 block down at York and Avenue 54). I had two tacos at El Piqué(asada and carnitas). The truck looks older, but It feels clean and well run. The attendant was friendly. And the tacos were very good. Both of them had a generous amount of meat. The carnitas, was served in chunks which tasted as if it had been roasted. The asada was flavorful and a little greasy. Yum. Overall both were very tasty. I was pleasantly surprised after having just had three lackluster tacos at La Estrella down the block. I’d recommend trying El Piqué.

Well this place was the third stop on the taco crawl I recently went on that Javier J had set up. Definitely a fun event to go around eating tacos from a few taco trucks before hitting up a bar. This Taco truck was not my favorite of all the trucks. I again had an al pastor here. There didnt seem to be the same juicyness and flavor at this stop as the other stops. I cant say how the other tacos tasted, however this location did seem to be the least enjoyed of our 4 stops. However the Taco’s were only a buck. Would I return here? most likely for another taco crawl I would come back. This was a tasty trek… However if I was just stopping for a taco or two at one place, this would not be the one.

Even though I hate the term, I tend to think of myself as a «foodie»; but the fact is I am sometimes timid when it comes to trying new things that don’t have appetizing names. And nothing sounded less appetizing to me than«cabeza», the Spanish word for«head». I mean after all, who wants to put head in their mouths?*** But like other well known Americans(Mikey from the Life cereal commercial and the unnamed friend of Sam-I-Am. I was brave and gave it a try. And yes I liked it too. How does it compare to all the other cabeza tacos? Don’t ask me because I don’t have a frame of reference; but I can tell you it was good. Gourmet Food Truck #206 on my never-ending quest to try every truck in «So Cal» ***That was a rhetorical question, no PMs please.

Picking up the quesa-dilla. and some taco. gotta try this one out also. gotta be good if your right next to la estrella. The tacos here are good. Hubby said that it is like La Estrella, I guess when La Estrella is packed I’ll be walking here. Plus they have quesadilla. MMMMMM it was deish. It comes with sour cream(no extra charge) little tomato and lettuce. Now i’m craving for one. The guy was friendly and was patient when I wanted to buy everything. LOL. Taco’s– $ 1.25 Burrito– $ 4.50 I think the quesadilla is $ 4.25 They even have a little bench for you to sit and wait or you can get your car washed right behind it.

Parked in a corner lot self service car wash, this taco truck was easy to find! The order: One carnitas taco for $ 1.25. The taco had soft, tender pork meat topped with onions and salsa with a side of lime and cucumbers. Though the meat was moist, I prefer my carnitas tender AND slightly crispy. Meh, it was alright.
