We tried Truckin’ with Tipsy’z at the Burke Street Food Truck Festival. At the Festival, we had the Stuffed Gouda Burger. Crispy bacon strips covered the juicy burger and garlic aioli was spread across the soft bun. Ooey gooey melted smoked gouda cheese had been stuffed in the center of the perfectly cooked medium burger, pink just like we requested. The homemade red bliss potato salad with mayo dressing hit the spot, two got-to-have-together summer foods — burgers & potato salad. The other Saturday night, we met up with the food truck again, this time at Potent Potables, and ordered another of their burgers called Blue Got Barbequed. The hand-pattied burger had lots of blue cheese crumbles whose flavor became more and more pronounced as the burger cooled a little. There was an interesting contrast between the sour sliced Granny Smith apples and the sweet house made BBQ sauce. Salty, crispy bacon streaked out the sides from under the toasted brioche bun. Being able to get our burger cooked to order the way we love it was a huge plus for us. We also indulged in a couple of their cold sandwiches that come on your choice of a Ciabatta roll, a Croissant, or a hoagie roll. We had the Herb Crusted Roast Beef Sandwich with pasta salad. All sandwiches are served with your choice of a side. You can have this sandwich warmed, but we didn’t because the roast beef was medium rare just the way we like it. The zingy roasted red pepper aioli and baby spinach were fresh, stand out flavors that made this sandwich amazingly delicious. And the bread; let me tell you about the bread. The ciabatta roll was soft and tender on the inside with a beyond yummy chewy crust. It’s definitely the bread of choice for my next Tipsy’z sandwich. The last sandwich we tried that evening was the Tipsy’z Twisted Turkey. The menu lists the ingredients as black forest turkey with Havarti cheese, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and herb mayo. «herb mayo»…It was in small print. Talk about hiding their light under a bushel. This sauce was phenomenal. It was like when the sun, moon and stars all align. That sauce with the turkey and the cucumber blew us away. We had it with a side of macaroni salad(sweet mayonnaise dressing, shredded carrot and tender noodles). Be on the lookout for the big purple truck, and try Trunkin’ with Tipsy’z.
