Family owned restaurant, recently remodeled, great portions and delicious food. I got the eggplant parm which was delicious! True Italian food here!

Delicious find! Made a stop here off of the Long Island expressway. Who would have thought you’d find an authentic southern Italian trattoria off of a busy highway! While service was a little relaxed, our server was so nice and the(very proud) owner made rounds to each table. All of the servers were Italian and, for most, it was clear that Italian was their first language. The food tasted just like home! And it came out very fast. I had the broccoli rabe and pasta which was very good and my friend had the chicken and peppers dish. I wouldn’t be surprised if every dish was as delicious as the owner was clearly very passionate about his food. Overall, a true gem.

Celebrated my birthday at Trullo D’Oro after my mom recommended the place. She is a personal friend of the owners. Our waiter was very engaging making recommendations and sharing stories of Italy and the restaurants that he had owned on Long Island. Maria sat down with us several times and Gino made the rounds in a packed restaurant. It is always nice to see the owners take such pride in their establishment. They had a clam over ear(u-shaped pasta and cherry tomato) dinner special which I asked if that could be made as an appetizer. They gladly accommodated. It was excellent. Very tasty but light. Not dripping in sauce. Well done. My wife had the fresh buffalo mozzarella and prosciutto which was very creamy and tasty. Had a nice gin and tonic while my wife had vodka cranberry. For dinner they had a lobster and risotto special which was excellently prepared. My wife had a pasta, shrimp, zucchini mix that she enjoyed. We also had broccoli rabe on the table. I had switched to a very nice Pinot Grigio for dinner. We capped it off with some espresso and sharing Tartufo. Between the service and food in a very nice restaurant it was one of the better Italian meals I have enjoyed in a while. Don’t speed past it when driving south on 106⁄107 or you will miss it. It was well worth it.

Had a wonderful family celebration in their back room for my mother’s 75th birthday. Service was excellent! The appetizers, pasta, salad and main course were delicious. Would definitely book again.

Homely restaurant. Went there on a Friday evening. The service was great. Gino, the owner came and greeted us and gave his recommendations. Food was ok, nothing spectacular but the service made up for it. Valet was prompt.

Maria and Gino with staff are very friendly and gracious hosts. Our birthday trio and adult family members enjoyed a large and shared variety of several different appetizers. A few main courses included Bronzino, Pulpo, Calamari, and a terrific platter of Seafood and pasta followed by a large platter of delicious desserts. Fine wines, drinks, with coffee and after dinner cocktails topped off our evening. We left very full with smiling faces. We will recommend our pleasurable dining experience to many friends and family. Rae & HarryG, Donna & Bruce, Cathy and Joe, also Tara

Just had a wonderful dining experience at this cozy, welcoming, and delicious restaurant. We loved the grilled octopus appetizer as well as the fried calamari. The bread brought to the table was wonderful. I loved my risotto with mushrooms. My husband was more than happy with his gnocchi entrée. My daughter said the pasta bolognese was as good as it gets. What really makes this a special place is the personal attention from the owners: Maria and Gino. They came to out table more than once and made us feel like part of the family. We will definitely return with our family in the very near future.

Cozy and bustling dining room, friendly service, varied and authentic Pugliese menu. Zucchini fritters were crunchy and fresh, table bread was delicious, the panzerotti were tasty. The carbonara pasta, lasagna, and steak were all big hits. Sides of escarole and broccoli rabe made very nice accompaniments. True Italian food in an unpretentious atmosphere.

What a great find! Cozy, warm ambience. Started with fresh fried calamari for the table. Two of us had Caesar salads which were good and my husband had the beet salad, which he said was delicious. Two of us had the mushroom risotto(a favorite dish that I always judge a restaurant on if they have it.). Both of us said it was one of the best risottos we’ve ever had. My husband had a pasta special which had fresh pasta and seafood, which he devoured. Didn’t have dessert but will definitely go back again!

This is the only restaurant I’ve ever been to where I don’t want to leave! It’s warm, cozy and inviting made even better by the presence of Gino and Maria. The food was so amazing… hot and cold antipastos, homemade ribbon pasta with Bolognese sauce and a cake with pear in it that blew my mind. We were there for 3 hours. I wanted to stay over and start the day again with that espresso… We’ll be back for that stuffed pork chop Gino… can’t wait.

Sorry not for me… owners are nice but how do you serve chicken parmigiano with no pasta? Instead you get a giant broccoli.

After reading Joanne Starkey’s review of Trullo D’Oro in Hicksville, we figured«HEY» it’s the NY Times, it must be great. Well, first we greeted by an absentee valet parking attendant. We had to go into the restaurant and drag him out. Then, we were greeted by the owner/hostess who nastily told us we were lucky to get a table when the entire place was empty. This was followed by tasteless food and horrendous service. The grilled octopus tasted like grilled pieces of fat. The entrees, which took forever to arrive, were not worth waiting for. One was supposed to come with pasta which never appeared. Upon leaving this charming place, the valet attendant was no where to be found and many cars were unhappily waiting for service. We’re extremely disappointed that the New York Times would highly recommend a restaurant of such poor quality, nasty attitude and terrible service.

Saw the write up in the Times, so we decided to try this place out! The food is very good and the staff is super friendly! Antonio was great! We ordered the grilled octopus which was very flavorful and had a kick to it which was a nice surprise! My mom and I had the veal saltimbocca which was delicious, my dad had the pollo contadina he really liked his dish as well. The only thing I can say is the dinners were given to us a bit scattered. My dads meal came about a minute or two after ours. Otherwise the food, wine and staff were great. Definitely will come back!

Trullo D’Oro is truly a find in that its welcoming and casually decorated with red & white checkerboard tablecloths to make you feel comfortable being there. We went on a Saturday circa 9pm and the restaurant was sparsley filled with diners. I attribute this to the«late» hour we arrived. We were welcomed by Antonio and seated. We were visited by Gino the owner and chatted about his pedigree of restaurants he has had that we had formerly been to. Antonio took our order for appys… we got whole Baked Clams. We had hoped for a garlicky dipping sauce under them but it was not to be… little sauce and not garlicky although the Clams themselves were fresh and delicious. Also got a Caesar Salad for 2 which had a wonderful dressing and crisp iceberg. We requested anchovie filets with it but alas they had none. As our embibement for the evening we got a really nice bottle of Montepulciano de Abruzzo. a inexpensive red Italian quaffing wine that goes well with southern Italian cuisine… For our mains, Bonnie G. ordered large shrimp in a spicy red sauce. Shrimps were outstanding but sauce was not spicy as promised… disappointing! I ordered off the menu and requested a Pork Chop cooked pink with spicy Cherry Tomatoes. The chop was nice size but came overcooked for my liking and the dish was too structured for the Southern Italian food I am used to. laid out more like Northern Italian Cuisine. It was good but not what I expected. With it I requested a ½ order of Capellini with white clam sauce but they had no Capellini so I got spaghetti… disappointing! This dish usually has substantial garlic but not to be. It was ok but I have had better. For dessert we were looking forward to trying some of the offerings other Unilocalers recommended… but alas, they were out of all the pastry desserts we had hoped to try… so that ended dinner. What can I say… the place is nice, the service is spot on but It will be awhile before we return. We expect alot more from a Southern Italian Style Restaurant that wasnt delivered the night we dined there.

We had an unexpected great first time meal at this«out of Italy» quaint Bari Resturant. Owner Gino Giannuzzi was a gracious host priding his choice of fresh foods and dessert. We will be back! The Bronzino, pasta with pesto sauce, Pino Grigio, fresh veggies and home made whipped cream dessert was Devine. I like good food and never write reviews.

Read a review in Newsday and wanted to try. Went on Saturday night, 8:00, no problem getting a table. Valet park is convenient . When we walked in we didn’t know where to go… then a woman came out and we picked a table, Dumb choice, in a corner, front and a large xmas decoration almost came down on me, caught it! Any way, I ordered stuffed artichoke — the best I’ve ever had and a yummy beet salad. My husband ordered a Caesar salad and the pasta with broccoli rab and sausage(as seen in Newsday article) I raved about it on the drive there because it looked so good. The pasta was described as guitar pick shape… well, apps were yum, but they took a while with the pasta and brought out a fusilli with shrimp?! What? They explained that they didn’t have broccoli rab —-so, tell us before! And how do you not have that veggie? I think the waiter misunderstood the order, I’m not sure, it was confusing. We were disappointed — sent back the pasta(allergic to shrimp) hostess said she wouldn’t charge us for the pasta, gee thanks, and offered us a cappuccino… no thanks. Suggestion, have a by the glass wine menu, nightly specials printed– hard to understand Italian waiter and get more wait staff. One waiter was doing the whole place. The owner did come around to greet people he knew, he ignored us, even tho I tried to say hi. I would try again, my husband said no way. The woman she seemed like owner/hostess should’ve comped something or given us a 25 dollar gift certificate… that would’ve got my husband back, lol. She was eager to make the negative experience right and felt bad… but it was awkward. Also, there was a really loud woman a few tables away from us that wouldn’t let her table mates get a word in edgewise… annoying to listen to her.

I had a most incredible meal here Saturday night. The place is well decorated, but informal. The food? Simply amazing. The three of us each had the stuffed artichoke special for an appetizer. Amazing! Topped with tomato sauce and mozzarella, it was the best I’ve ever had. We split a housemade pappardelle pasta with bolognese sauce. Delicious and more than enough for 3 to split. I had a fish and shrimp Frances entrée, which was amazing, but most of it came home with me. We couldn’t resist the housemade desserts, do we ordered 3 to go, and truly enjoyed them the next day. Also, great bread served with a garlic olive oil dish. Yum! Our only complaint was the $ 16 price for a medium sized Hendricks martini. Everything else is a great value. We can’t wait to go back!

Surprisingly good! Bianca salad unique, light and flavorful. Branzino done to perfection except for few missed bones in the filleting. Service was attentive, almost to a fault, but Miguel in particular had a wonderfully warm and perceptive demeanor– very astute at determining our mood and attitude. Gino himself exuded pride and spent time at our table not only explaining the specials but giving us a brief history of his restaurant experience, along with a travelogue that I suppose we encouraged! Maria was a warm and capable hostess, eager to accommodate. Definitely worth a second visit!

Food was some of the best food I have had in a long time. The owner was pleasant and service was phenomenal. Will be coming back with friends.
