I ordered a delivery of vegetable teriyaki and spring rolls– the rolls were soggy and undercooked and the vegetables were old and stale in a watery sauce. Bad food Sakana!

I finally found a great place for lunch in my area! The food is fresh and the portions are perfect. They always have my order ready in time and the staff is friendly.

Ordered here from grubhub many times. Good dinner. Usually takes a little longer. Sushi is not the best but good enough. Love the bubble tea.

I may be spoiled but the sushi rolls here are small. They are fresh and tasy, just not very filling. I order the two roll lunch special and was no where near satisfied after I was done. I am glad I ordered extra food. The ginger and wasabi condiments were satisfactory. The special comes with soup or salad. I chose the soup. They did give a hearty serving of soup and they were generous with the tofu. The tofu was very soft and creamy. The dashi used to make the soup lacked in flavor. The soup could have used some salt so I used my leftover soy sauce from the sushi and poured it in there. I also ordered shrimp lo mein with an egg roll. The egg roll was fried perfectly with a very crispy shell yet somehow did not leave the container nor my mouth sopping with grease. Oops I forgot to take a picture of the egg roll. The shrimp lo mein was good, also a smaller portion than I’m used to but for the price not terrible. The portion size may have something to do with the fact that I am ordering lunch special but I am just guessing. Overall I am satisfied enough to eat here again though not anytime soon. My order came up to roughly $ 15 which isn’t too bad. Someone on Unilocal mentioned they don’t have bubble tea. Could that have been a fluke or just temporary? Bubble tea is still on the front of their menu. Don’t quote me on this since I never ordered it but perhaps they may still have it. The place itself is pretty plain and doesn’t have much in terms of décor but it’s clean. The girl at the counter was friendly. It was pretty dead at 1pm. I did hear a few people eating in the dining room when I walked in for my pickup.

Me and my wife just ordered food from here. We got hibachi steak and some sushi rolls with rice and everything. To me, it’s plain as day that this is a Chinese restaurant trying to make Japanese food. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good either. The Hibachi steak was more like regular steak just cut up in squares. The sushi didn’t taste like authentic sushi and we order sushi a lot. You get what you pay for in this case… I don’t know about you guys, but I have never ever found Hibachi Steak at a Japanese restaurant for $ 16 lol. Again, it wasn’t the worse, but personally, if you want real deal PERFECT sushi, check out Soto Sushi right in the CVS shopping center at the corner of Newbridge Road and Old Country Road. That’s literally flawless sushi every time I’ve had it.

I ordered the steamed vegetable dumpling. It was over cooked. The edges were hard. I also ordered for delivery the chicken and broccoli. The chicken was overcooked and it was swimming in brown sauce. As usual, the broccoli was ginormous and had to be cut up.

My husband and I have been to sakana several times and the food and service are incredible! The staff is very accommodating and are willing to change rolls for us to accommodate our diet. We don’t eat fried food and they make rolls for us that are usually fried not fried and the chef has made special rolls for us which he let us name! My husband loves their wonton soup and says it is the best around. We will keep coming back the food and atmosphere are great!

I’m back! Sakana has a new owner. They removed the filthy carpet and put in hardwood floors and painted and really cleaned up the restuarant. I have returned as a regular(especially takeout). The new owner is friendly, helpful and appreciative of my business. I now highly reccommend Sakana for fantastic food, service and attitude. My earlier reviews are no longer valid.

Just ordered delivery sushi from here. I wasn’t too wild about it to be completely honest. I had a philadelphia roll and a spicy tuna roll. Everything seemed bland. Even the wasabi didn’t have any kick to it at all! The fish I had in my rolls didn’t seem very fresh/high quality. But then again, I ordered because they had the lowest minimum for delivery: $ 10 which is nice. Would probably not order from here again.

Simple restutaunt with good food. My fiancé and I order take out from this place frequently. Sex on beach, volcano rolls are awesome
I love Sakana, I have been coming here for 3 years. I’ve only ever gotten the sushi, but the 50% off hand rolls are always a treat! I recently started coming back after being away for a bit, and their upgrades have really made the place look great. The special rolls are also a treat, and the presentation is awesome. The only thing that keeps me from giving Sakana 5 stars is that I’ve never had anything other an sushi, so I can’t speak to the rest of their menu. Parking isn’t ideal, either, but I’ll definitely keep coming back!

I havent had the sushi from here yet, but the bubble tea is AMAZING! They have extra large size cups and the price is cheap. Sometimes they do not have the bobba balls and u have to wait, but its worth it! Ive driven 7 miles here sometimes just for the bubble tea! ****UPDATE: THEYDONTHAVEBUBBLETEAHEREANYMOREWHAT A SHAME!

I love sakana, but as Michael W. said, not many people know about it. Everytime I go in there I feel like i have the place to myself, which is nice. The sushi is great, and always half off. I would recommend their miso soup, tempora roll, green onion pancakes, and the chicken broccoli. Finish it off with a nice tempora ice cream, or tempora banana. Really nice. Also, their new bubble tea menu is great! Nice little hole in the wall.

I have been coming to sakana for years, however the other day I placed a order to go and on the way there i got into a fender bender. I lost my appetite and was in a terrible mood so I did not pick up my food right away. They called me 11 times on four different numbers! When I told them I got into an accident the woman told me she would call the cops on me If I didn’t pick up my ten dollar sushi roll ! Needless to say I will not be going there. If you want good sushi, try bluefish!

I have been coming here a few times so I’d say that I like it here. Well not really an ideal place for a date since the interior is just urrgh… and yes, there is definitely a depressing vibe. As for the food, I don’t like the chinese menu. Ordered once and not really satisfy. But some of the Japanese dishes were pretty good, in fact my friend and I come back just to order these: Yelowtail Jalapeño, Fuji Volcano(this is a must) and Hamachi Kama. The waiters are pretty attentive and friendly. Good place to come in once in a while for a quick and light meal.

I get take out from here all the time. they deliever to SUNY Old Westbury, so I never have to leave campus. Prices are decent, the food is pretty good. I like Japanese, and they don’t screw it up, so I like this place. I enjoy their soups, sushi is pretty good, and their tempura.

A nice touch is that they give you edamame gratis to start. But that’s where the nice touches end, sad to say. Besides that, if I hadn’t had the avocado cucumber roll which was the only thing that I ordered that I actually liked, I’d consider this place rather forgettable. Sadly«edible» is the only way to really describe the food here overall. There is a depressing vibe that comes across overall. I hate to say that, but it’s true. The interior is just dingy, ripped vinyl booths, unattractive dropped ceilings, and everything is very dated. They definitely need a major décor overhaul. Staff was attentive, and one lady was a bit cheerier than the other who was waiting on our table. I don’t need servers to be boiling over with enthusiasm and joy, don’t get me wrong. But I don’t want to feel depressed when I’m eating out, either thanks to the overall defeated mien of the servers(also need to add that we were barely greeted when we entered and no one said thank you when we left-not even the sushi chefs which is unheard of in, in my many years of going to Japanese restaurants). Besides the sushi roll, I ordered tofu teriyaki. The sauce was decent, the portion was pretty large, but the tofu was way too soft in consistency and lacked flavor. It’s generous of them to have the Japanese entrees to come with both soup and salad, as most places give you the option of one or the other. But… the miso soup was sub par and the ginger dressing tasted like they added way more sugar than is necessary. I couldn’t eat it. The tea was quite good and comes gratis with your meal if you ask for it On the other hand, my parents *loved* their Chinese entrees and are eager to return. Hopefully they won’t expect me to go with them.
