Love this place. It’s so hard to find eggless pastries and cake in USA. My dad is a pure vegetarian, and when he came here for vacation it was my birthday. I was so glad that I was able to order the cake that not only he will eat but also love. The taste reminds me of one of the local pasty shop back home in Delhi that I used to love. I love all the cakes but specially pineapple and butterscotch.

This is not a review of the bakery. The food reminds me of the occasion of searching for American food while living in India. Take the innards from a masala dosa and out it between two pieces of pita like bread and you have an American sandwich. Or a grilled cheese sandwich of onions, Garam masala, and paneer. It was fun and brought back some great memories. The pastries and cakes looked wonderful but I didn’t eat them.

Ordered takeout of samosa chaat to test the waters. Very impressed. Has the layers of complex flavors. Bread buns are nice and fluffy. Hard to believe there are no eggs in the pastry! Will add to local haunt list.

Came here today to grab some food between lunch and dinner w/an Indian friend who was knowledgeable about the type of food they got here(cause I had no idea). I love meat but I was down to get some vegetarian eats today worddd. First thing I noticed was the cheap prices — everything seemed like it was between like $ 5-$ 6, which is great. My friend and I split a Bombay sandwich and Paneer Teekha sandwich. Both were $ 5. The Bombay sandwich had 3 pieces of crustless bread w/layers of potato and vegetables. It was enjoyable; something about it works nice and it is light and tasty. I liked the Paneer Teekha sandwich even better; it had some ill cheese cubes plus onions, veggies, and some spices and such. It wasn’t the right time to have dessert but they had some tasty looking cakes like black forest, pistachio, and such. Definitely will be back sometime to try more stuff.

I don’t know why have they named this place hot breads. They do not have a variety of breads. What they do have is some good cakes and pastries. I ordered a pineapple cake and and buuter scotch cake… lols both tasted the same to me, my son and my husband. My son said where is the pineapple I’m the pineapple cake. It is good place for vegetarians for sure.

The food is amazing. The owner is kinda weird but whatever it’s all about the food. I always get the chiknon Kati roll. I love the pastries.

Amazing chaats and pizza! The uncle is nice. Spicy stuff. Tastes great. Tried their fiery pizza too. Great choice for vegetarians.

The man is rude, don’t know if he is educated — I wanted a custom one pound cake and he insisted to get a 3 pound cake — I offered him to pay more for the 1 lbs cake and he refused? He is an idiot !

I haven’t come here but I have had their cakes several times now. Our friends have been raving about it so when it came to my birthday, my husband treated me with a cake(and pastries) from here. The black Forrest cake was amazing! We were truly missing an authentic indian style cake that is fluffy, soft, and moist. These italian and american cakes are good, but nothing beats indian style cakes. Definitely reminded me of my childhood in every bite! :) thanks for making my birthday special guys! Oh and this place had the best cake writing I’ve seen anywhere!

The moment you walk in the 1st thing you smell is cocoa, very fitting! I’m not a coffee drinker but my friends said that the coffee was great. Their story is an interesting one: they were weeks away from opening & Superstorm Sandy hit & wasn’t kind to them at all. However, what’s more incredible is how they were able to rebound & still get the place open! They persevered & that’s enough to impress me. Baked goods are great: friend of mine got 2 cakes from them & the one we had was a devil’s food with buttercream frosting & it was delicious! We also got a few of the cake truffles & they were great too, very unique dessert if you’re looking for something different to bring to a party. Staff were very friendly &VERY patient! I tend to change my mind about what I order in food joints at the last min & they were very cool about it!

The eggless mango cake is phenomenal. I’ve ordered it for birthdays, anniversaries and other big events, and it’s always been a hit. Guests are constantly asking where the cake was from. It’s on the pricey side and needs to be preordered, but well worth it. The cake is the only bread and butter of this place, literally rest of the food is average. The service is reminiscent of your typical dhaba in rural India. The staff is nonchalant and evasive with no respect to pick up times and details discussed over the phone. That being said, this is a unique spot where everything is not only vegetarian-but eggless! That makes it a go to place.

I like the uncle behind the counter with his perfectly pear-shaped belly. I guess that’s what you get when you eat highly refined carbs every day… kidding :) The place is small, has a few tables and chairs. They have a variety of Indian snacks and appetizers on the menu, a few cakes and desserts. If you are watching your weight, avoid this place as it’s loaded with sugary carbs and a lot of empty calories. But a good snack occassionally never hurt anybody.

Eew! This place has awful food. This place is not affiliated with other Hot Breads all around the country. It is completely vegetarian. Not clean from inside and the sandwiches and Pao Bhaji were lack luster. It doesn’t look like they bake their own breads or pastries either. I totally ate a ready made Pao with the Bhaji. No butter on the Pao either. The person who took our order was dumb as hell. He couldn’t understand what we were ordering. Asked us at least four times what we wanted. Idiot. The prices are way too much considering the food is below mediocre.

Much more than a bakery, this restaurant offers tasty food at reasonable prices. I’m not vegetarian but I would recommend this place to anyone. I literally walked in and asked for a lunch suggestion. Friendly helpful service here. Fresh carrot juice was a real nice surprise. Save room for dessert!

This place was better than Mumbai Express and was worth the 1.5 hour bus ride to Hicksville! The PANIPURI was the BEST! The puffs were light and crisp and the fillings(potato chunks/chick peas/tamarind sauce/basil sauce with rice crisps) were amazingggg. I literally just wanted to have the whole plate to myself. Papadi chat was fun to eat and tasteful as well. The crackers tasted as if they were roasted that day. GENEROUSPORTIONS so you can definitely share this snack amongst 2 – 3 ppl. We also ordered a paneer panini that was the size of a personal pizza pie. Tasted great but I was so full from the pani puri and the chat that I only ate a quarter of the panini. This place was CHEAP so I’d recommend coming with a GROUP so you can order a bunch of snacks and taste a bit of everything. FYISHOWCASEOFEGGLESSDESSERTSANDCAKES, INDIANPASTRIES

With a store name like Hot Breads, I was under the impression that they would if nothing else have a descent selection of breads. They did have a ok selection of pastries, Of which i had a chocolate mouse parfait, Which was out of this world. Walking into the store I first noticed a very strong bleach smell as if they had just done the floors. In my opinion that is a big no no, Never clean floors and leave a smell during the day. I would recommend Hot Breads for pastries but that is it, Bread selection was terrible and not hot.

Best cakes ever! You might find the place a little pricier than other bakeries but the worth you get is many times more than the price. Eggless cakes only but taste better and softer than cakes that contain eggs.

NOTETOREADER: This establishment is strictly vegetarian. This place is an Indian snack shop… very casual, and very cheap. Need a quick midday snack and/or light lunch/dinner? They bakery needs and menu is wonderful. Try their pani puri, chat, bhel puri, and dahi papadi. Their dahi papdi is actually my favorite. Mmmm mmm mmm! Their pizzas, and panins are Indian style, so don’t expect a panini American style, it’s a little different, and you can ask them to make it spicy if you want more spice. All their paneer dishes are really fantastic as well. Their mango lassi is my favorite when it comes to their juices. If you don’t know what something is, the owner is always happy to explain the dishes to patrons. Don’t be afraid to venture out of your comfort zone! Did I mention the full bakery at the check-out counter that just taunts you? All their bakery items are amazing, and over the years, I have def tried about half the pastries and cakes. I would have tried all of them if not for my nut allergy. Want a HELLA cheap meal? You could get an appetizer, an entrée, and a dessert for under $ 10. It’s a small corner store so don’t expect fancy, but sometimes the hole-in-the wall joints the best! Use of credit card is only valid over $ 10!
