I have always loved the sandwiches at Jason’s Deli(JD), especially their signature Muffaletta and Pastrami sandwiches. What I didn’t expect to occur is that Jason’s Deli is now my «go to» restaurant for great salads. Yes, salads! Who knew that Jason’s has an excellent, well stocked, and reasonably priced salad bar? Ruby Tuesday’s(RT) salad bar may be marginally better than Jason’s in overall quality, but RT’s salad bar costs $ 15, whereas Jason’s cost $ 8.xx. That’s a substantial price difference for salad ingredients. RT has slightly better pasta salads, whereas JD’s has buttery garlic bread, outstanding wasa cracker varieties, whole boiled eggs(ding-ding-ding-ding), and three varieties of lettuce. Jason’s also has an excellent fruit and pasta salad bar and free soft serve ice cream. I inquired today and the $ 8.xx is for an all you can eat salad bar option. I can only consume one plates worth of food at either RT’s or JD’s, but it’s nice to know that one can eat as much or as little as they choose. For second trips, ask for a fresh plate(NC law) from the end of the serving line. For dessert, I prepared a small bowl of chocolate ice cream, drizzled it with chocolate syrup, and sprinkled on some chopped almonds from the bar… it was SO good. I also love the large ROUND dessert spoon. About half of the patrons seem to order the salad bar, and now I do as well. It a great healthy cost effective option while traveling. Check it out the next time that you’re passing through Hickory.

For this kind of restaurant, Jason’s is about as good as it can be. They have a very wide variety of fresh and healthy sandwiches, salads, soups and sides all for a very reasonable price. This location was pretty full around a Friday lunch hour. Their employees are also extremely friendly and attentive. Although this was our first visit to this franchise chain, I probably wouldn’t hesitate to try another especially if it’s as good as this one.

Chaotic, messy and over-capacity. Key words that come to mind about visits to this location. So many tables crammed in, even with only ½ full of patrons, tripping over tables and chairs to get seated. Reminds me of current coach levell air travel conditions… Rather 3rd world. The place is not well cleaned. They hand over a tray with a salad bowl, silverware and a napkin, to go serve yourself from the salad bar. The tray had food particles from some other diner! I cringed thinking about how the actual foods were being handled… Surprisingly, the salad bar food items were fresh, but unsure what happened behind the scenes with them. As another recent reviewer(Darrylyn) commented, the Ruben was not hot. The picture shows the cheese didn’t even flex and conform to the slightly warm meat. I was totally reminded why 6 months ago, I decided not to hurry back. Don’t know how long it will be before returning.

My first and last time eating at Jason’s deli. We were traveling through Hickory an stopped for lunch. The salad bar was messy and several items had run out without being refreshed. The tables are the smallest tables I’ve sat at in my life. My husband ordered fish which was basically a lot of breaking and a small piece of fish. The kids meals were the best part of the experience. And it was overpriced for what it tasted like.

This review is based on my first visit. I will return and hope we understand each other on my next visit.(I do intend to give them another chance) Let me tell you, I love pastrami, I mean a good hot meaty pastrami! At the time of my order I was asked do I want it toasted? Where I’m from, you can only get your bread toasted! I responded and said no, I do not want my rye bread toasted. She then looked puzzled at me and said you don’t want your meat hot?! I said of course I want my meat hot, I just don’t want my bread toasted. What I got was a cold, fatty,(skimped on the meat) pastrami sandwich! This is NOT your Katz’s Delicatessen in NYC! My order was the managers special, half a sandwich, salad bar, or fruit. I spent about $ 9.00 on a very thin cold fatty ½ sandwich a few pieces of fruit and some chips poured onto a separate bowl from a large bag of chips. Not very happy with this visit, hopefully it gets better.

Love Jason’s Deli !!! Used to eat at one in Durham, all the time. So happy to have found one out this way. Awesome, quality ingredients. Great soups, especially French Onion, Fire Roasted Tortilla and Southwest Chicken Chili. What I come here for though is the Reuben(with corned beef). It is enough for two people — it is stacked, I repeat, stacked with meat — I always end up taking half of it home. Brings back feelings of nostalgia for delis like Wolf’s or Katz’s and maybe a little bit homesick. The NY style barrel pickles are killer! One time, they actually didn’t have the corned beef … and why? The manager said that what they had sent him was too fatty so he sent it back. Now that’s quality control! I even like their salad bar(and that’s coming from a carnivore). Fresh, well maintained and great choices. Save room for cheesecake or strawberry shortcake. The only downside is it’s tough to get over here, you really have to snake around the parking lot, but it’s totally worth it.

Had dinner tonight at Jason Deli but was very disappointed. Had a Ruben with the corn-beef but it was sliced instead of shaves. Was tough I think someone put Salami on the sandwich. Have had this sandwich numerous times but not like this one. Remember when your quality goes so do your customers. I will probably give you another try, but my husband won’t.

Favorite, favorite, favorite! Best salad bar in town. Plenty of options for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. Plenty of kid friendly items as well. How do you beat free soft serve anyhow? Best customer service, and everyone seems to be happy to work there.

A quick stop on my way back east lead me to this great Jason’s chain in Hickory. Its a great stop off I-40, and it offers all the comforts of a chain! Try the Veggie Spinach Wrap!

Great place to get a sandwich or take your pick of the salad bar. They focus on healthy, organic food, and treat the diner to a lot of complimentary extras, like soft serve ice cream and mini-muffins. The salad bar includes hummus, different pasta and bean salads, and fruit and pudding options. As other users have mentioned, the only downside is that the price is a couple dollars higher than other places in the areas. Food and a drink will run you $ 10-$ 11, which is high for lunch. If this is your kind of place, it is worth it.

The food here is very good albeit pricey. Lunch set my wife and I back $ 17.00 They buy locally and use organic items when available which makes my wife happy. Your order at the counter and are given a number. You get your drink and take a seat and someone brings your food to your table. All servers are friendly. The ice cream which is included is light and airy like it had been whipped and is very good. I got the grilled Santa Fe chicken sandwich-grilled chicken, bacon, swiss, tomato and avocado on toasted wheat bread– very tasty. My wife got the homemade chicken salad wrap which she said was very good as well. We would eat here again when in the Hickory area; it’s just a little more than I’m used to paying for lunch, but for the food quality and a healthier lunch I guess it’s worth a little extra.
