Casey’s General Store

I think the c-​store market in this town took a step backward when Handimart sold out to Casey’s. Handimart had it more together with their huge variety of privately branded coffee, more food options, cleanliness and friendly staff and not to mention, lower gas prices. Cedar Rapids once had the lowest gas prices in Eastern Iowa thanks to nearby Nordstrom Oil. That’s no longer true. Gas here is now as expensive as Iowa City! Also, Handimart was more involved locally. For an Iowa company with so many CR locations, Casey’s doesn’t do a whole lot for this community.
Casey’s only saving grace is they brought with them their pizza & donuts. That earns them an extra star, albeit begrudgingly. While I’m not a fan of their cake donuts, many people are. Their pizza however is surprisingly good for a gas station. Their taco pizza is as good as it gets and a good value. Just $ 11.99 for a large this month.
