Amazing experience! We came in around 5 on a Friday night and were immediately sat. Our waitress and the rest of the supporting staff was attentive and patient! :) We ordered the spicy kani salad, calamari, and live scallop for appetizers — they were all fantastic. The live scallop was especially delicious. They made it with lime slices and an sweet brown sauce which we had never had but we were pleasantly surprised! We ordered the mermaid roll and the sexy girls roll and enjoyed both! The wasabi is extra spicy which we appreciated as well! This will definitely be our local go to sushi shop! :)

I order here way too much. It is so fresh and delicious. I always order the Christmas roll. It is worth the 40 minute drive out. I just can’t get enough!

I absolutely love coming here for lunch especially it’s only 6 mins away from my job. For roughly around $ 15, you can get a plate full with 3 diff rolls and soup or salad with freshly made ginger dressing. My absolute favorites are the Alaska, Tokyo and shrimp tempura sushi!

Visited on a business trip, and ordered the miso which was ok, but very hot which was nice. As I was not very hungry I ordered a special roll and asked if the special rolls can be ordered in appetizer quantity. She told me yes so I ordered half of another roll. When the dinner came, I had two full rolls which I was unable to finish. The waitress very kindly apologized when I asked her about it, and told me sorry repeatedly. The price was not corrected, even after asking. The waitress was kind and attentive, but Kumo Sushi did not make their mistake right which was not excusable. The sushi was average, and as I said before, the waitress was kind which earned Kumo Sushi the second star. I don’t ever believe a customer should be charged for a mistake that is not theirs.

This is hands down the best sushi place I’ve ever been to. The selection of specialty rolls is incredible and I have been able to try something new every time. I have never been disappointed and neither has anyone else that I have recommended this restaurant to. Some of my favorite rolls are the fantasy and the amigos. The presentation always amazes me :)

Kumo Sushi is one of my go-tos for food. The customer service is lacking though, and that’s the reason they get three stars. Everything we have ever ordered at Kumo has been incredibly fresh and delicious. It’s definitely a craving we go to satisfy. Try the black pepper tuna roll — it’s to die for. That said, a few years ago I would have given them a five, but the service has been going down. We were there last week and no one asked if we needed refills on drinks(even though we needed a refill before the food came out). We didn’t see our server more than once and had to hunt them down for the check. Overall I can get good sushi and far better service at other places — which is why we will only go every now and then for the great food. Hoping the service changes soon. We’d love to go there more.

Went here with my wife, and while the food was good, the service left a lot to be desired. We got two sushi rolls, one friend and one not. They gave us our drinks when we took our order, and no one came by again for around 30 minutes. Other people arrived and were served before we even had someone come back to check on us. When the food finally arrived, we asked about the wait and they told us it took a long time to prepare our type of roll. Really? I’ve been to tons of sushi places and, fried or not, rolls do not take 30 – 45 minutes to make. Even if that were the case, it does not excuse leaving us alone for that span of time, not offering refills Etc. Terrible experience.

My favorite sushi go-to. I used to frequent this place every other day, after yoga. So much so that they even recognized my to-go orders over the telephone, «is Thai for Tiba?» Of course they knew. I was asking for extra sriracha and pickled ginger galore, doesn’t take a detective to figure this one out. But their food? So fresh. Options of brown and white rice, a plethora of rolls to choose from(loooove the white diamond, the amazing roll, even the pikachu), and white tuna sashimi — instant win. They also give you a free Cali Roll if you order more than 20 bucks(takeaway only, you’re welcome) so I’d get on that too. Hopefully their service doesn’t plummet — it was a bit iffy the other day — but I’m a loyal customer. A little setback can’t keep me away from the yummies Their stuffed jalapeño app is also another try or die missing out kinda deal. Enjoy.

Well, if you like wasting money on creepily warm sushi & sashimi that you’ll probably be afraid to finish due to food safety concerns, this place is for you. My husband had the chicken teriyaki, which he described as «okay,» so I can’t recommend that either. The staff seemed friendly, so I’ll tack on a star for that, I guess. My experience was big disappointment considering the great reviews. I’m starting to think there just aren’t any good sushi places around except Ariake, which is what I’ll stick to next time I’m in a sushi kind of mood.

I thought Kumo sushi was OK, the service was great and the company was even better! I went there with my family and travelved there for the holidays. Being from California, it is really hard to compare what i am used to(freshness and quality) to sushi in VA. Three solid stars for this place, fun food presentations and excellent service. Try their cucubmber(instead of rice) option on the sushi rolls.

Best sushi in the area. Nice staff, excellent food, great selection of rolls and other stuff, also for non-sushi lovers. Tends to get real busy around noon so better call ahead of you have a larger group. A nice touch is that the waiters let you substitute almost everything for anything, many times even at no additional cost. My favorites are the spicy tuna and the sexy girl roll. They got a great lunch menu from Katsus, Maki Lunches, Bento Boxes, great rolls, sushi etc

I came here just to get take out and it was really good! They made the sushi nice and quick! I really liked the Eel and Avocado roll! I think that one was the best. They give a lot of spicy tuna and the eel inside of the sushi roll and I really liked that. But I didn’t like the Jalepeno and Yellowtail one. It was just a little too plain. And I will say I didn’t like the rice as much as other places. But I really liked the prices of the sushi. It was nice and I think it was worth the price. I also really liked the size and the décor of the place. I hope to come back to this place to actually eat here and try the hand rolls.

One of my two favorite sushi places in NOVA, outside the beltway, along with Yoko Sushi in Oakton VA. I consider Yoko the more traditional quality sushi house, whereas Kumo is the more trendy and fushion-y spot. Don’t get me wrong, Kumo has plenty of very traditional choices, but their fushion-y roll menu is pages long. This is not thecase at Yoko,.they have one page of fushion rolls and the rest is a true to form sushi restuarant. This place also has excellent bento boxes with teriyaki salmon and chicken as choices and these REALLY amazing duck scallion appetizer rolls. AMAZING Gets crowded for lunch and i always feel like the tables are about 6 inches closer together than comfortable. They need to lighten the load in there. They also serve live scallops, eak! LOL But i like it here and come often. Also, sidenote: the servers/service is REALLY dry, so FYI, you’re coming here for the food and atmosphere, not a friendship with your restaurant staff.

A small sushi restaurant located in Herndon with excellent food! We brought a large group and we were given edamame and rock shrimp tempura. I highly recommend the rock shrimp tempura for an appetizer, it was delicious. It reminded me of the honey walnut shrimp from panda express(I forget which chinese chain restaurant has it) except without the walnuts(it’s better off that way in my opinion). I had a Philadelphia roll and a dragon roll, both delicious! I’m a sucker for both rolls, who can resist eel and smoked salmon? Overall great service, atmosphere, and food.

We were craving some Japanese food and found this place on Unilocal– what a great little place to eat! Definitely recommend if you are looking for a quirky little Japanese place to satisfy your sushi cravings. Not only was the food tasty but the service was also good! We actually ended up showing up about 20 minutes before they opened, but the staff was SUPER accommodating and opened for us, seated us, and served us quickly! In Japanese style, we got water and warm towelettes to start our meal. The food was delicious! They have a large list of possible sushi rolls– and a great selection of kitchen entrees as well. They are one of the only Japanese restaurants I’ve been to in the area that has veggie curry! In short, we got a selection of sushi and some yakisoba— we were very pleased and I recommend them both!

I had the Katsu Pork. I think the katsu dish I had in Tokyo was far superior. Though the ingredients were of quality, the dish overall was bland. On atmosphere and food, I’d give this a three star. However, the really cute asian waitresses speaking in korean and mandarin bumps it up to a 4 star.

This is going to be bad. having Kumo right in my neighborhood. Finally had a chance to try this place with my best friend for dinner and it did not disappoint! I’m forever craving sushi too. We ordered four special rolls to share: Tiffany’s, Dancing Dragon, Butterfly, and Tiger’s Eye. My best friend and I agreed the Butterfly was our favorite, it will definitely be one of my defaults if I cannot decide on a roll to order. The restaurant looks small on the outside, but it’s nicely decorated and has a nice interior once you go in. I was also able to redeem points from Verizon Rewards for a 25% off coupon, not bad considering how fast your bill can stack up with special rolls. Found my new go to place for sushi in the Herndon area!

The quality here has plummeted since I went a few years ago. Stopped in for lunch the other day, and WOW. The sushi was really WARM, not at all fresh… had a very ‘fishy’ taste(like not the fish taste it’s supposed to have, like more of a stronger flavor that just didn’t feel right). Also, the Diet Coke needed its tank replaced or something because it was straight up FLAT. Was pretty excited to go here again because I had such great memories, but I’ll stick to Otani’s lunch buffet next time I want a sushi lunch… kind of sad that for less money and on a buffet I can find fresher sushi, but it’s true!

Went to Kumo for a quick pick up last week during my lunch break. I got a roll of shrimp tempura, a roll of eel and cucumber and a side salad for $ 9.25. Not only was it cheap but it was phenomenal sushi. My goodness, it was prepared so quick in front of my eyes and the place was packed. I’ve heard great things about all the food there and I will definitely be going back more than once a week.

The Mrs and I went for the first time last night. The sushi was really good, and fresh. The price was surprisingly reasonable. Really good value. My problems with the place is(1) The Service-It was good, but a little cold. Perhaps that is nitpicking… I don’t know. All of our food and drinks came on time, they accommodated our requests, but it doesn’t hurt to smile. And(2) The menu is almost too big. They should cut their special rolls by half. They have really good sushi, shashimi, etc… they don’t need gimmicky sushi to please every customer. Keep it simple. Verdict: We will certainly be repeat customers. Enjoyed it.

Vale a visita!
