Just had the best experience with Natalie at The Mint Salon. Natalie personally worked with my crazy work schedule to get me in for a much needed hair cut. My hair was super long and very damaged at the ends! She used a really cool technique to cut the damaged ends and gave my hair new life! The movement I get with this hair cut is incredible and I’ve been getting so many compliments on my new style everywhere I go! Natalie is super sweet and fun to talk to. She also loves to help her clients get their hair to the healthiest it can be and shared lots of good advice with me about what I can do to get my hair healthier and stronger.
Loved my experience here and coming back in a couple of weeks for highlights and lowlights with Natalie! Thank you so much!

Bad haircut from Eli, didn’t listen to me, I don’t recommend him!!’ Do ur homework and don’t rely solely on reviews. I asked to keep my hair long and he buzzed me. It wasn’t a balanced haircut

I had an extremely unfortunate $ 240 coloring experience at this salon with Eli right before the holidays.
I initially called called to make an appt. and said I was interested in going to Vanessa (based on reviews) for a platinum ombré job I thought might be relatively complicated on my dark hair. The woman on the phone said she could give me Vanessa’s number, but also recommended the owner of the salon, Eli, so I just booked that right away.
The first red flag was a miscommunication about my appt. The day of, Eli texted me and asked if we could move it to the following day. After a call and a text, the last thing I heard was «never mind, let’s keep the same time» in a text. A couple hours later, I went into the salon and waited 45 minutes but Eli didn’t show. This was a miscommunication, so I ended up going back to the salon the following day when Eli was there.
I showed him pictures of what I wanted and he moved forward with the bleach and toning «ombré» job. He seemed to think it would be an easy job. When the coloring was done, 1 – 2 inches of natural roots, then the rest of the hair was a deep honey color. He said I could come back in and he’d bring more of my natural color down if I wanted.
After inspecting my hair at home, I was really unhappy with it. It was not not an ombré style and it did not look like the photos I showed whatsoever. The color did not look pleasant with my skin tone either. I politely texted him and said I did want to bring down the roots to make it softer. I never heard back. I needed to leave for a trip and did not want to leave with my hair the way it was (several honest friends asked me «what happened?» regarding the color). I ended up making a last minute appt. with a stylist at another salon to fix it. The stylist was shocked at how bad the color job was and recommended I get a refund. There were several sections of hair that were mostly bleached, but had a large spot of my natural color right in the middle. Within the week, I called and left a voicemail asking for a refund and then again left a message with his wife. No calls or texts were returned.
My hair looks better after spending another $ 100+ with my new stylist but I will have to maintain monthly maintenance to fix the mistake from Mint Salon. Needless to say, I HIGHLY recommend avoiding Eli. I’m very upset I dropped $ 240 and compromised my hair health for this mistake.

I love this place! Such a cool atmosphere and Natalie gave me the best cut today! So talented and really knows how to work with my crazy hair. I have been to so many places and I just really appreciate Natalie’s presence and care. All the hair dressers are so friendly and warm and funny! Love it and love my hair!

Just got my hair done here for 1^st time by Eli. Went from red to light brown ombré. It came out really nice, my boyfriend loves it. Definitely would recommend to people

First time at this salon, getting a coloring job with Karen. A very good experience! I have medium brown hair with lots of old blonde highlights that got very light from the sun, and I decided to fulfill an old dream = get intense, fire-​hydrant red highlights (against a darker chocolate brown base.)
Karen was very friendly and down-​to-​earth; she did a great coloring job; gave me great instructions on how to maintain my color/​care for my hair, and the price was very reasonable (I’m not a rich Hermosa Beach housewife/​trust fund kid by any means!)
I’m a guitar player with a show coming up that’s special to me, and I needed a stylist that understands and likes various types of «rock and roll looks», but that didn’t cost a lot. I was a bit apprehensive to go into this salon because it’s in Hermosa Beach, but I saw the many great reviews and photos of clients before and after. And now I’m one of Karen’s happy clients!

I love my haircut that Byron did for me. He took his time and made sure that I got exactly what I wanted.
Before he took me to wash my hair he observed and tried to get an understanding of my hair which I greatly appreciated because the thickness of your hair can make all the difference.
He also favors the more natural products which I find to be less damaging to your hair.
The salon itself was very cute and the hair washing stations had the most comfortable tubs I have ever laid my neck in.

My hair was damaged, broken and thinned out on the sides due to previous bad haircuts. I was also using the wrong products, not protecting my hair from heat, pretty much I was being abusive to my poor hair :/​I found Natalie/​The Mint salon on Unilocal and I’m beyond grateful that I did! Natalie has completely helped transform my hair and bring it back to life! I’ve been going to her for cuts for about a year and a half now. She knows how to cut my hair and get it healthy without taking too much and making me freak out! lol. She has helped me with product recommendations as well and is always sweet, accommodating, fun to talk to and just amazing all around! I trust her implicitly and if she ever moves… Well I guess I’ll have to relocate too! I also reincorporated Ovation Cell Therapy which I highly recommend for strength and growth. Thanks girlie. Oh, parking on weekday mornings is a breeze but if you’re going on the weekend, give yourself an extra HOUR to park… Literally.

Last week I was in dire need of finding a new hairstylist. I had asked my previous stylist to take my hair to an all over ash blonde. (My hair naturally is a dark blonde but I had highlights in it already). After 3 different visits to her, I kept ending up with a horrible brassy base and white «highlights». It was time for a real color expert!
I went onto Unilocal,found Mint Salon and booked an appt with Eli. What a God send! I told him what I wanted and showed him pictures. He played around with my hair and said I needed a color correction. He was completely upfront with his prices and how long it would take. I said, «Work your magic!»
What a genius! He was so considerate and nice the whole time! My hair came out EXACTLY how I wanted! A look I had been trying to achieve for months by now! He asked if he could clean up my A-​line bob and I was thinking, you can do whatever you want to my hair! He had already gained my trust 100%! Let me tell you, he is a magician when it comes to cuts! My cut was more sassy and hip than I ever expected!
The whole staff is completely amazing. Greeted right when I walked in and offered something to drink right away as well. And they serve the drinks in purple mason jars! I’m in love with this salon! Very cool vibe and even cooler people! I can’t wait for my next appt!

I just moved to HB and was in need of a serious hair cut & color. I called Mint and they got me in immediatly. A short walk and presto– I was all fixed up.

I came down here with my coworker who got her hair done for a wedding. And am I glad I did! This guy referred me to VANESSA, and OMG let me tell you SHE IS AMAZING!!! I have never liked my hair cut/​color right after the salon. It usually takes me a week to like it. But Vanessa took her time cutting my hair, making sure everything was even. I loved it as soon as she curled and fixed up my hair!!! The part of my hair that she bleached is still healthy and smooth, no damage at all!!! I definitely found my hair stylist! I can’t wait to come back for my next treatment!!!
So if you are looking for awesome funky colors for your hair, I’d say go to VANESSA! But you have to make an appointment, she’s always busy!!! But worth the wait!!!

I called Mint Salon to fix a hack job one of my friends stylists did on me a few days prior. Realizing that I was going to have to cut my hair short to fix the mullet I had I asked the receptionist to schedule me someone that knows what they’re doing with short hair.
Eli had a vision and I just gave him free reign to fix my mullet. I have never had such a great hair cut before, Eli knew what he was doing and I had no worries.
Normally I grow my hair and donate it every couple years, but I think I’m going to keep it short for a while and have Eli clean it up every other month due to all the positive feedback :)

I have always had long hair, and have wanted to try a short cut for a while. I called Byron and he was able to squeeze me in on the same day. When I arrived he took his time understanding the cut I wanted, we even went through magazines to ensure we were on the same page. I ended up donating about 13″ of hair… and I love my new, short hair!
TLDR: Got my favorite haircut ever from Byron!

So I have been going to the same hair stylist for over 8yrs. I recently moved from Reno, NV to California, so you can see how nervous I would be to find a new hair stylist. I did my research for over a month on where I would go. I kept coming back to reviews for Mint salon and kept seeing a lot of satisfied customers. So I decided to finally call. I called the same day on a Saturday, and either it was faith or a miracle Karen had an available appt, the only one she had available the rest of the day. I rushed over there and got there right on time.
Karen has such a warm and friendly personality I felt good right away. She offered me water, or wine. We sat down and I told her how nervous I was. She took her time to listen to exactly what I want and needed. My hair was exactly what I wanted when we were done! I will definitely be going back for my hair cuts and coloring from now on. I love The Mint Salon! I was initially referred to Vanessa six years ago by a friend for a hair cut. Vanessa has always been super attentive, detailed and most of all patient with my hair. Years later, her relocation to the Mint has proven to be a pleasant change. The mint is located right by the strand in Hermosa Beach a couple yards away from the warm sand. You may want to schedule an appointment during the week in order to avoid a headache looking for a parking spot. Most of the parking spots available on 14^th St. are metered and restricted to a maximum time of 3 hours. Beware of the ticketers they are not messing around and will give you a ticket. lol
First thing when you walk in to your appointment you will be greeted and offered something to drink. Drinks usually vary but they always most certainly have Keurig coffee, ice tea or beer: D The vibe inside this salon is so fun and welcoming but also relaxing at the same time. Vanessa is so awesome she will go out of her way to make her clients feel entirely comfortable. My hair is so healthy and full of volume because of her. She applied an express blowout keratin treatment previously and it was worth every penny. My hair is very stubborn and wild but Vanessa has so much patience especially when color treating. Her attention, uplifting attitude and ingenuity make all the difference. This girl will not let you down!

Found her through a referral from a good friend. I almost do not want to Unilocal about her because she is truly a gem.
I see her regularly for maintenance and she helps keep my hair healthy and shiny. Trisha will work with you and is extremely conscientious of your hair style needs. Not only will she explain to you what she will do with your hair, but she will also give you tidbits on how to maintain the style when you get home.
I am never short of questions when I see her. I ALWAYS go home happy and satisfied.
