I love this teeny tiny coffee shop on the pier! I first found out about this place last spring when I lived/worked in Torrance and San Pedro. I immediately wanted to try this new coffee shop and I was freaking out because they serve Stumptown Coffee! Needless to say, I am impressed. The owner(maybe manager?) was so nice and even gave me a free pastry with my cortado. The cortado was terrific and their interior was minimal. No tables, no chairs. Just walk in, order, and enjoy. They do have juices and Kinfolk magazines for sale as well. Next time you’re in the area, stop by Scapegoat instead of Starbucks prior to your beach stroll. I’ve heard from a friend that they are moving locations soon so come check them out here before their move!

The people are nice and will stop and chat with you. The drinks are simple but they’ll make whatever you want. They will even let you try samples if you ask nicely. I got an iced earl grey and it was actually really nice. Usually hard to make those just right but it hit the spot without any cream or sugar. A little pricey, but it’s on the pier and it’s not like Starbucks is much better in that regard — plus, here you at least get better product and service. Will come back again :)

Finally another legit coffee house in Southbay. I would say the baristas here may be more skilled than the ones at Two Guns. Currently they are using coffee and espresso from Madcap roasters, but it looks like they’ve also used Stumptown in the past. My cappuccino was excellent, highlighting the espresso perfectly. The store itself is tiny, but who needs seats when the Hermosa beach pier is right outside? My new number one coffee joint in SB.

I am pleased knowing that the coffee culture is growing in South Bay. I reviewed Two Guns recently talking about how we are finally planting small business coffee shops around, with expensive beans no less. I do enjoy a $ 4 iced coffee once in a while especially if it’s Stumptown like this establishment carries. Quaint and smack right on the pier, this coffee shop doesn’t mess around. Menu is simple, espresso, Americano, cold brew nitro… The cold brew was really tasty, bitter but it had sweetness to it as well. The guys behind the counter were nice & sprouted friendly conversation. Milk or half and half is by request(in the fridge) and all sweeteners are on a cute shelf by the door. I dig the vibe here and happy to have them so close by!
